I feel Knuckles was laughing because he is Struggling With Pain and Near his Limit, While Sonic Lasted Much Longer. I feel that the reason why Sonic could resist the corruption better is Because of his will power and Experience at handling the chaos Emeralds.. Perhaps it's being so used to utilizing the chaos emerald Probably gave him more resistance against The cyber corruption
As a reminder in their digitized states, Knuckles, Tails, and Any can’t physically feel anything. The corruption is the closest thing to them feeing pain, and it catches Amy and Tails off-guard. But Knuckles? Dude’s used to getting into scuffles. To him, he probably felt more alive than since he got beat up by that Asura and locked away. Course, pain is still pain which is why he still collapsed, but the last echidna’s made of hardy stock compared to the other two who aren’t always training.

My heart actually dropped when I heard and seen each of them face the pain. Most especially Amy. Knuckles was a bit funny yet it's shocking because he's laughing it off and keeping to himself that he cannot fall under Sonic's accomplishments. I actually felt that...all of it

Man Tails and Amy finally understand Sonic pain of cyber corruption to Tails as a brother and Amy as a friend or girlfriend to Sonic i dont know and the first time i hear her agony for the first time. Knuckles understand too but he laugh of pain like he doesn't care if he get hurt by the corruption and to proof that he still got his pride

Thats why everyones voices got deeped and why the writing and dialoge wasnt just a bunch of stating the obvious or do this then you play as sonic this game had actual risk and stakes in terms of story
I think this voice direction is just for this game. Which is really dumb given this comes off as really desperate for the English directors to go “super serious” when the Japanese VAs are just doing it as a normal.
This is only more on the American side, because compared to the Japanese dub, the characters sound just like they always have. I guess it's whimsy to make them sound more mature and deeper on the western side.

If nothing else, Omega could very well be even more at risk. From what I remember, the cyberization that Tails, Knuckles, and Amy are suffering from have them half here and half in cyberspace. At his roots, Omega is a program developed by Eggman. Sure, Omega has a robotic shell, but I'm sure it'd do little to shield his programming from the influence of Cyberspace. Just look at Sage, if nothing else, Omega could very well end up in a similar state as her.
