    Hi, please include the list of your climbing gear in your videos. I think it would help a lot for would be climbers. I love your videos. Thank you very much for sharing your expertise.

    I am a tree guy, so I stumbled in here. This is an excellent video. I am a senior citizen, so I am using moving rope technique with a Petzl zigzag, PMI chest roller and a rope walker system. The zigzag is my high ascender above the chest roller. This may seem strange to a caver and most tree guys, but I am top heavy and the chest roller makes a big difference in arm fatigue and general body stress, Without the chest roller, each step up the rope is like doing a chin up because you need to use your arms to get the rope close to your body. That near vertical posture isn't going to happen with my body type, but the chest roller makes longer climbs doable. When resting on the rope, I use the foot ascender to apply a little pressure through the chest roller to keep me more upright. My gear won't work in a cave because the zigzag wouldn't survive very long in a gritty environment. Also, the zigzag is not midline attachable so it cannot pass knots or rebelays which also rules out rock climbing. I've got trees in my back yard and climbing is cheaper than golf and more fun in my opinion. Another advantage of trees is you descend to get out of them. How come I don't do rock climbing? I am not into dynamic ropes and whippers or hanging by my finger tips. Caving gear and applications are much more adaptable to my interests. You have a wonderful site here. Maybe you have done it already, but you might do a video explaining the advantages of chest rollers for top heavy climbers. When I say top heavy, I mean deep chested. The guys with broad shoulders that disappear when they turn sideways don't have this problem.

      A rope runner pro would work instead of your Zig Zag as its midline attachable.

    Good video. Thanks.
    Constructive criticism:
    The music was much louder than the narrative, hence adjusting volume is necessary in some environments.
    Please keep producing.
    Good stuff.

    Do you have a breakdown of the gear used in this set up? I’m looking for a more efficient accent method for caving/mine exploring and this method looks like it would be really well suited to my needs. Thanks!

    Excellent, content, videography and sound. Very clear. I liked the comment about using a tether on each ascender. Would have liked to see 2-3 minutes on how to tie and set up the system including tethers and the "rope management" that is involved. I have it all figured out for the Mitchell System and that took hundreds of hours to appreciate the details. I am helping a friend with his newly purchased Ropewalker and your video helped. When he arrives today we will start by watching this video.

    hi Derek the videos are very interesting and specifically this one that you teach how to climb by simple rope. In my country I do not find anything of devices that you carry as many chest as of feet you can tell me where to buy one to practice thank you very much

    • @DerekBristol
      @DerekBristol  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The most common ascenders used in the Ropewalker system are the Petzl Croll and Basic, which should be widely available. The harnesses for a foot and knee ascender, as well as the chest roller, are not as widely available. Retailers in the US, including On Rope 1, Karst Sports, and Inner Mountain Outfitters carry this equipment, but it may be more difficult to source in Europe.

    Is there any alternatives to the chest roller that has been discounted?

    • @DerekBristol
      @DerekBristol  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I assume you mean discontinued. It does seem that the PMI/Rock Exotica double and single chest rollers are no longer being manufactured, and there aren't any obvious alternatives. You can try to find a used one, or a used Simmons roller, from online caving groups. There are always some of these sitting in someone's basement not being used. The best alternative I've seen is this note on the OnRope 1 website: "The original PMI Double Chest Roller has been discontinued and is no longer available. We are in the process of designing a new one and anticipate it being available around the beginning of July. If you order now, they will be shipped out in 'first come, first serve' when the new ones are made. Sorry for the delay, however we're trying to keep the Ropewalker system alive."

    • @DerekBristol
      @DerekBristol  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@noahdrums5810 The Caving Gear Swap FB page would be a place to ask if anyone has one to sell. A PMI chest roller sold there about 2-3 weeks ago, but you don't have to wait for someone to offer one up.

    Do u have links to buy knee and chest roller?is it workable in caving?we dont need chest harness for this techniques? Tks a lot

    Where can a person buy a chest roller? I like the videos, but it would be helpful to have links to equipment used, rather than links to things like cameras and equipment used to make a video.

    • @DerekBristol
      @DerekBristol  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t believe Rock Exotica / PMI are making these anymore. Check with OnRope 1. They may still have some of the BMS chest rollers.

      It's a Petzl Microcender. Unfortunately not made anymore. The CMI Ultrascender Small (right-hand version) is a good alternative.
