did not imagine this weeks project ending this way 🫣 hopefully these trenches keep the water out of our foundation and it dries up well 🤞🏼See you next Sunday Pack 💛
Just think of it this way: the rain was a test run for the drainage system before you finished the job in it's entirety and can make any necessary tweaks. Also, you hadn't finished any other cabin work, so you weren't set too far back on things.
Hey ladies, maybe you need to make a water cooler. Yeppers, my brother will tie ropes to the top of his cans and drop them into the lake. It’s not the coldest in the summer but it works 😝🤗🥂
Kubota, if you’re watching, these women need to have this machine FOREVER! My goodness, it certainly saved the day. Good work Tangerine and my favourite women on TH-cam.
The fact you can react to these problems confidently, forming and executing a plan on the go in the middle of the "crisis" just shows how far you've come and the pros you now are. Salute!!
I do the same! I have three kids who are 32, 30 & 28! Between them and Jaz & Crystal-as well as some other content creators, I’m not worried about the future at all!

After you get the French drains done, lay a sheet of plastic sheeting (12-mil, I think Vis clean) across the entire crawl space and up the side walls at least a foot. Make sure it's overlapped, taped, etc. Then put kraft faced insulation into the inter-joist spaces with the kraft paper side facing up (toward the living space). If you don't insulate the inter-joist spaces, the crawl becomes part of the house's environmental envelope and makes conditioning the space challenging.
My husband had an uncle who lived out in the woods in the part of Wisconsin that’s as far north as you can get. At some point like in the 80s he decided to add an extra story to his small home. He got his extra story built, and he put on Tyvek, and then he never did another thing. We moved to the area in 1996, and that’s when we first discovered it. For years one of our silliest jokes has been, oh look it’s done, it’s got the Tyvek on. RIP Uncle Jerry, you were a wild man.
Thank you Michael. We love those machines. Clementine and tangerine make our lives easier. I guess we could have used a generator and a sump pump. But that could have taken forever. The machines are simply the best. 😊🐶
Hey Ladies! When I saw the titled of the new video my heart sank for both of you. Just wanted to let you know you’re one of the channels my folks love to watch, they ask every SATURDAY “ if there a new episode of Vanwives, and I have to tell them all the time “It’s not Sunday yet!” Thanks for making content that makes my Dad talk about construction and my Mom feel empowered to learn new things and connect with my dad in new ways, and just being apart of our Sunday evenings.
Awe thank you for sharing and caring with us! That’s SO sweet about your mom and your dad. You filled up our hearts. So happy to have all of you as part of our pack. 💛🐾
For the metal top trim piece, get your hammerdrill and some tapcom screws. This way you can tighten down the tapcons to secure the trim piece without deforming it.

When digging a waterway with water in it, never start digging in the water! Always leave a land bridge to act as a Coffer Dam , and dig your trench in the dry. Otherwise you create a muddy mess that is likely to just keep collapsing in on itself. Once the trench is complete, sloped, and solid bottomed, THEN go back and remove the Coffer Dam. I suspect you already know, but if you plan to run your downspouts to a drain, skip the temptation to connect to the footer drains, and ruin them in their own drains. And congratulations on your new Ramset toy! That will be so useful from here on out. You can even shoot pins into mild steel using the red loads. (Mild steel, like the kind that holds your solar panels up. That's mild steel). You ladies always impress, and you've done it once again!
David- thank you for giving them advice and praise! Some channels end up with arrogant put downs instead of constructive comments! There’s already enough pessimism and hate speech on this earth. Hoping more will think twice before commenting and spread positivity!
I don't want to hear you being so down on yourselves! You're doing an amazing job and you'd been pushing yourselves so hard. You got there in time to divert disaster! Great job! 👏 👏 👏
My heart just broke when I saw all the rain in the trench after all your hard work. Thank goodness you dug the trench in time to save the cabin. You worked so hard to get where you were to have the terrible rain storm. Looking forward to seeing you next week, hope you recovered after everything that happened. 💛💛🐾🐾
We could not believe it, after all the hard work. This happens, mother nature just does what she wants. lol It was a good test. See you next Sunday. 💛🐶
One more point, and Bombas knows this too -- While it is generally accepted that socks are the number one requested item for homeless, actually those in poverty too, what is coming to light now is that undergarments are actually needed more. Bombas works with many homeless organizations ( I work for one in the United States) and they alternatively will donate undergarments too. Socks are asked for because it is less embarrassing to ask for socks than underwear. As a general rule, when a homeless person comes to our organization for a shower, we routinely will place a fresh pair of undergarments, socks and toothbrush and toothpaste in the changing room for them. I am sorry for going on, but from a hygiene perspective, combs for men and hair brushes for women are also massively important (imagine going days or weeks without washing or combing/brushing your hair. Women get feminine hygiene product too. Anyway, sorry for the soapbox story - Bombas is a wonderful organization - I get all my socks from them.
It's good to know the waterproofing works and the foundations are sealed. Not quite how you wanted to test it. Love the faces you both pulled using the ramshot but they are fun to use and it makes life so much easier using right tools. Can't wait for next Sunday and see how much further you have gotten ❤❤
I’m so impressed with your ability to tackle any job and how well it turns out. Your cabin now has a new life and will last a long time for you ladies. Kudos to you both. 👍😃
Think about putting visqueen plastic down in your basement after it dries out. Keeps moisture from rising but you have to vent the area through your lower door. Sometimes a fan on the backside of vent is required to pull out moisture. Looking good. You guys work so hard.
You two girls are amazing! There is nothing you can’t figure out! What a joy to watch young people work for what they want and enjoy! Keep on keeping on!

It is all fascinating and I'm looking forward to seeing how it all holds up. I have no doubt it will be perfect! I really think Kubota should consider donating Tangerine to you permanently as Clementine's partner too! Your channel is the best advertising ever for their company!!

You could also be getting water from underneath. MIght want to keep an eye out for underground seepage, and you'd then have to install a sump pump. Good Luck.
Blue tapcon screws were hard for me to find in Baja. Which I thought was totally weird because they are for concrete and everything where I was … was concrete!!!! Wild!
What a great job on weatherproofing the foundation, as you well know a good foundation is everything in your house and your life as you can attest to. Best of luck as you go forward. Can't wait until next week for more on this build.
I don't think anything could get you two down!! Absolutely amazing what you do and how you handle those little 'disasters'!! Just love watching your vids, so impressed,
This was definitely a very thorough and frustrating job. You all did great. What a building that was set up with so many problems. You guys are amazing.
Don't give up ladies, so many people are rooting for you. I got a big hit this week learning that my dad has early onset dementia symptoms in addition to his Parkinson's, but your builds and your grit keep me grinding it out with you. Water will clear, I'll support dad, and you
Sending you strength and calm. Been there, it's hard work. Take it day by day by hour by hour when you need to. And get people to come and help for an hour here and there. My dad, at the beginning, enjoyed a little card game with a part time carer who came in for an hour now and then. Another person brought a hand wax therapy machine, warms the wax and eases the pains he developed there.
Wow! I can't say it enough you two are amazing! Im traveling to Dallas today for work, so thank you for another great video and positive vibes! Happy Sunday!

I’m glad yall didn’t give up on the new cabin. I’m enjoying this build because I have a large basement in a very wet area. I have a system that has floor drains inside the basement and plastic sheeting on the interior walls that directs the water to the drain/sump.
Jazzy’s ND when re-holstering. Remember lady - finger off the trigger until you’re on target and ready to shoot! Great video - I’m learning a lot about re-habbing - not something I’ll ever do, but good for you both!
I love both you girls content. My daughter and I look forward seeing what you girls are up every Sunday. Also seeing the real stars of the show Bela and Izzy. Keep up the great work fellow Canadian.
When y’all go to encapsulate your crawl space, look into installing a whole house dehumidifier that will drain out excess moisture. It made a huge difference for our basement in MD/DC area home.
Great work my fellow Canucks,I can’t even imagine taking on this sort of building project never mind filming and documenting the entire thing with this sort of quality. i’m extremely impressed.
You did the right thing. after seeing the title I kept asking why you hadn't dug your trenches for the entire length of the drainage you needed but when you are that busy some things just get past you plus you had no idea that the weather would change so quickly. Things should be okay and there should be no damage so good on you ladies!! See you next Sunday with hopefully good news on the project.
Well done ladies. Your hard work will pay off soon when you realize you have fixed the whole issue. This rain storm was definitely a test. With the crazy weather we now get it will be satisfying to sit back and be comforted with the fact that you have constructed something solid. I can't wait to see how beautiful you will turn this cabin around. You are an inspiration to many! Sending hugs from Vancouver Island where we know RAIN!!
You gals are so inspirational. Really admire your work ethic and your ability to organize each project you take on. If this ever ends, which I hope it dosn't, you should become contractors.
You ladies do an amazing job. Also want to compliment you on your video editing. Great content and quality. Love how you help educate your viewers as you take on new tasks
Wow, that's a lot of rain! Where I live we've been praying for rain. Been watching the clouds coming and going and the scorching sun drying out what little moisture there is left in the soil. Every situation has its challenges and you two are just fantatic in dealing with the very many presented to you. Well done ladies! Your love is the greatest blessing of all. ❤❤👭🐕🐕
Don't beat yourselves up. We all live and learn, and you ladies have learned so many skills over the years, and you do it with a passion to work things out.
I'm still very proud of you both! You were doing a great job... and you saved the day. Mind you, I don't know if you could have done it without your fluffy supervisors.

Thank you for watching 💛
I like the cement work. That's nice! Great job!
I love both you girls content. My daughter and I look forward seeing what you girls are up every Sunday. Also seeing the real stars of the show Bela and Izzy. Keep up the great work fellow Canadian.
Totally enjoyed this episode. Very exciting. Both of you are so safety conscious. Thanks for the excitement.🧡🧡🧡🧡
Great you Gals , Another super fun video posting !
Glad yall got to the trenching before the downpour/becoming wet in crawl space... Be safe!!! Can't wait for the next continuing project...
When y’all go to encapsulate your crawl space, look into installing a whole house dehumidifier that will drain out excess moisture. It made a huge difference for our basement in MD/DC area home.
I love mid sentence "oh bumblebee" then kept going with your train of thought😆
Ach du Schande! Na ein Glück habt ihr zwischendurch mal geguckt und es aufgeräumt.
Respekt!
Wow that sucks glad you got to put that glue and roll on the foundation hoping that french drain prevents future water issues
Great work my fellow Canucks,I can’t even imagine taking on this sort of building project never mind filming and documenting the entire thing with this sort of quality. i’m extremely impressed.
All this prep work detail on the foundation is a great investment.
You ladies rock!! It is super inspiring to watch you two take on any project that comes your way! JUST WOW! ❤
You have no idea your vlogs helps me with some of my projects. I'm sure I'm not alone.
Thx for sharing your life. 💛❤️💛
Enjoy you ladies so much! Proud of you two! Watching you tackle all these issues!
Much love from CALIFORNIA. ❤
Love sunday afternoon when your video come on great one this week can went for next week love from the UK 🇬🇧 xx
Good afternoon Shanee from the Uk. Sending love back from the pack. 💛🐾
Rain, sleet, snow or sunshine always fighting the good fight!
Keep up the good work girls!
✌️🤟🖖🐾🐾
Every week you to accomplish soooo much, what a team you make. ❤❤❤
Great job on the membrane and dimple stuff!! 🎉 You can’t be mad at yourselves; weather does it’s thing. Just rest up and wait for the sunshine!! 🎉☀️
You gals are so inspirational. Really admire your work ethic and your ability to organize each project you take on. If this ever ends, which I hope it dosn't, you should become contractors.
Bombas are the BEST sock! love them!!
How stressful for you both. Good test to see if there is water still coming in.❤❤ you two are inspiring! Bella and Izzy are the sweetest!!
You two never cease to amaze me ‼️ What an awesome job. And of course having fabulous supervisors helps, too❣️🐾🐾
You ladies do an amazing job.
I’m glad you girlies were doing it, I would have thought the dimples were the indentations on the other side!
I so look forward to your video's on a sunday, you both are a inspiration, ive never seen two young woman work so hard, you are brilliant
I wanted to say “the cracks are showing” but you beat me to it. 😊 I’m sure you will fix whatever problems you find along the way. 😊
