- We walked through Casco Viejo, Panama which is the heart of Panama City. Some of the highlights included eating at Cafe Coca Cola, the only restaurant in the world that can officially use “Coca Cola” in its name, shopping for souvenirs, walking though Independence Square, Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica of Santa Maria the Ancient, Panama Canal Museum, Placa conmemorativa Independencia, Monumento al canal de Panama, France Square, and the picturesque La Calle De los Sombreros
“Casco Antiguo (Spanish for Old Quarter), also known as Casco Viejo or San Felipe, is the historic district of Panama City. Completed and settled in 1673, it was built following the near-total destruction of the original Panamá city, Panamá Viejo in 1671, when the latter was attacked by pirates. It was designated a World Heritage Site in 1997” - Wikipedia
