Anybody find it funny that at a Peace Conference between the Palestinians and the Israelis some brilliant mind thought serving shellfish (crab cakes) was a good idea... its debatable amongst Muslims and a big No No for the Jews.
Keep in mind, this is tv.. Toby tips over due to recoil cuz they need comic relief. Camera’s in the press briefing use flashes, so the audience gets the brashness of the briefings. I watched these shows when they came out, quite enjoying watching some of them again
Because they aren’t just pointing the camera at the podium from a set place - they are photographing the whole room, including the journalists and not using the flash will mean images would be unevenly lit
Mostly for effect as a TV a scene. But also, photographers like to control their own scene and lighting. If they didn’t use a flash they’d be at the mercy of other lights and photographers.
@@swilson42 It's all effect. Photographers do like control. Which is why flash stinks. It just blasts light for a moment. It is ugly and crude. And entirely inappropriate in this setting. In fact other photographers would be annoyed that they set their exposure and some newbie went banging off a flash messing up their own exposure. TV definitely hates it when they have their camera set up (in this case likely a pool feed) and flashes go off messing up the exposure. It's also funny to think of a pool feed in that room as it is built over an actual swimming pool.
The trouble is half the time the "Worlds Problems" are problems the US caused in the first place because it seemed like a good idea at the time. For example, overthrowing Iran's Democracy.
I love the fact that you can't say "Damn" or "god" on most American TV shows, they bleep "shit" and "ass" but british swear words like wanker (wank means masturbate, if you don't know), which are actually harsher most words that get bleeped, are fine.
When I'm rewatching the show I skip these 4 episodes (2 gaza + 2 camp david) because, as one of the characters says, "What are we even doing here?" The entire story arc was terribly written.
I think Josh Malina pointed that out on an episode of The West Wing Weekly and I'd never caught that before....Muslims can eat shellfish but you're right they're not kosher.
Goyim do not know kosher. A Reformed Jew from the state of Georgia wrote in the 1950s thanking his Christian friends for serving pork/ham at lunches, since knowing it wasn’t kosher, they normally gave him Lobster Thermidor, instead. They probably served cheeseburgers as well vs :-) .
He did not. He was a toddler when the war ended. There's a famous episode where he arranges a funeral for a Korean War vet. It's called In Excelsis Deo. It's from season 1.
Opening scene of the Christmas episode in season 4 ("Holy Night", when his father makes a surprise appearance at the White House), establishes that he was born shortly before Christmas 1957, so he would have been close to 42 when the series began.
The whole 5th season is definitely the weakest for the West Wing. You can tell they missed Sorkin (fortunately they found their footing again in the 6th and 7th with the Santos/Vinnick story.)
I don’t really get why you say that it’s a pretty simplistic way of handling it but it’s tv politics it will always be simplistic in the end the west wing explained what both moderates and extremes in both parties involved in the conflicted wanted and empathized that if something wasn’t done nothing would get better in the show battler burnt a lot of political capital and time trying to resolve it in real life we didn’t bother we let it fester we let colonization occur and we allowed radical groups to gain to much control with in the Palestine government
It was just an awful episode with scene after scene of high school textbook dialogue. (Who talks at length about Gaza during pickup basketball?) And also a head spinning 180 by Bartlet who was like "let's blow em all up" at the end of Season 5 but is suddenly hell bent on peace at the start of Season 6.
Inconsistent writing and major shakeups for the sake of major shakeups. I actually do like seasons 5-6 even though I recognize they are weaker, and I like episode 8 of Star Wars even though it is different.
"This is the way we do it in Brooklyn."
Oh Toby, never change.
he was a marine in the show
So funny.

That's the joke
That hug in the beginning. 😢❤❤❤

LOVE THIS SERIES! Hate that there’ll never be any new episodes. 😢
Use of the word “wanker” amused me greatly
What a strange title for the clip. Only refers to a few seconds out of 4.5 minutes.
I don't understand why the photographer is using flash photography. The "stage" is already lit for TV and photographers.

At the time this show is placed, that was what you did because post processing wasn’t yet there…
@@jhwheuer That's not the case.
When skeet’s season?
Once again proving America can’t solve all the world’s problems if they just don’t want it solved.
The trouble is half the time the "Worlds Problems" are problems the US caused in the first place because it seemed like a good idea at the time.
For example, overthrowing Iran's Democracy.
It can't solve them either way.
Except that they did negotiate a treaty. And as Bartlet once said, sometimes you're just trying to keep it from totally blowing up.
Yeah someone definitely wasn't paying attention
Oh crap, who was watching the twins when Andi was in Gaza?
Whichever Max intern is tasked with making these clips, maybe put them in an order that makes sense and watch more than 10 seconds before titling it.
Kyle, you only get what you pay for, and you didn't pay to watch it.
@@cameltanker1286 I paid for the whole thing on DVD, now I gotta pay another 250 bucks to watch it on my phone ? That sucks !

Even in the 1990s this was busshit!
My goodness. Margaret must have been made in a lab. She is beautiful, smart, and that sultry voice of hers is the icing on the cake.
Not to mention she knows how to forge the president's signature.

From what I understand crabs are not kosher so why are they serving crab cakes at a lunch with jews and muslims?

Didn’t Toby serve in Korea? Surely he would be surprised by the recoil on a shotgun.
He did not. He was a toddler when the war ended. There's a famous episode where he arranges a funeral for a Korean War vet. It's called In Excelsis Deo. It's from season 1.
No I think he was born during Korea, but sometime around the 50''s to 65? he was tagging along with his sisters
How old do you think he was?
I was re- listening to WWWeekly, and during " Somebody's going to emergency, Toby had mentioned being with his sisters.

Man, the Gaza plotline didn't age super well, gutted that's why Sorkin always stuck to fictional countries

Season 5-6 were akin to Star Wars episode 8
Wow!!!!! 😂
Ok, I'll bite. How?

Star Wars 8 was " The Last Jedi" right?
So you're saying it was the best of the later seasons but wildly uneven?
