Steve buscemi is the kind of actor you just cant get your eyes off him when hes on screen. Truly an amazing actor.
@MrPitjoey 🙂🙂🙂🙂
Mr. Pink.
I met him on a movie set (the Billy Bathgate movie that didn't quite make it) when I was an extra and stand-in for Mike Starr. Really nice guy from what I remember. That was back in 90' or 91'. Sort of funny, and I will be name dropping, but I also met Tom Cruise (briefly) since he sort of snuck onto into town and onto the set. He was dating Nicole Kidman at the time. I also was able to meet Abe Vigoda, Steven Hill, Stanley Tucci and Dustin Hoffman. It was pretty neat to know that these are regular people, with all the regular people quirks and attitudes, that are just doing a job that they enjoy. I met the cinematographer and had spoken with him at length, not knowing how well regarded he was in the motion picture industry. I didn't find out until he had passed away. I just had to look him up because I couldn't remember his name. He was Néstor Almendros. He passed in 92'.
Exactly. Whoever wrote this script is lousy, but Buscemi still made it work.
Yeah. Steve keeps proving that he's not just a pretty face.
Why is Buscemi just the best in everything he does
Because he fully harnesses his Busceminess.
hasnt had sex in 9 years
Because he is the best
I bet if somebody asked him to build a bridge to nowhere he could do it
You’re out of your element Jaidyn
“She had a rod in her leg...couldn’t dance...it sucked”
hilarious delivery 🤣🤣
And the crowd was silent like wtf!?
...and Chris' uncomfortable reaction of 'how do I even respond to that?'.
Mouser
This just shows why the actors matter. This skit was so dumb but buscemi made it hilarious
Kattan kinda sucked though, maybe get a dog house or something, ya know?
You're totally right. They used to write such lame skits for Chris Farley and he made them gold
Nature Boy RIP. 😥
The interviewee left without his 💼.
It is likely derived from Monty Python's How to Irritate People.
John was so flustered by the interview he left his briefcase.
It's Michael!
Well it looks like John!
john will get it tomorrow XD
I love this
@@mikevicchiarelli2369 -- He spells it Jon.
The pacing of this skit is so different from any snl skit I've ever seen. They really trusted the audience to go there with them. I liked it.
I wonder if it started out as a Kids In The Hall sketch originally. Steve Buscemi's character gave me real Dave Foley vibes.
That trust was misplaced
The pacing instantly reminded me of Kids in the Hall
It's a Jack Handy sketch.
looks like a regular boss to me
Stefan Czerwiński i
Yeah, I was gonna say this too. Nothing irregular going on here. Just boss-business as usual.
n the bosses r crazy in general so..
Yep, nothing new to see here....
A typical out of touch dumbass.
“ Yuckla” - UCLA... some HR are like this no joke
You are right! They act just like this.
We usually pronounce it "oocla". Or at least I did when I went there haha
"Oh, you went to Indiana University of Pennsylvania?"
"No, the... one in Indiana."
"Oh. Is that a community college?"
"It's a traditional four-year in Bloomington. Big Ten school? Hoosiers?"
"Oh, so not Purdue?"
when i was about 7 years old i had no idea what it was either. and why the letters were always featured with some bear.
Doctor of Philosophy?
We are looking for a PhD. You aren’t qualified.
Don’t ever assume H.R. is on your side. They are there to protect the company. Steve Buscemi is the best character actor ever.
And they don't even do that too well if you include the poor applicant screening practices. You are a resource and their C in HR-224 told them that warm bodies with diploma XYZ is all they need, the rest is fashion.
I looked up the linked in profiles of the HR managers for some companies where I used to work. They really are full of shiit 24/7, personal profiles packed with hollow jargon BS and no real substance to be found anywhere.
What kind of moron would think HR is on their side? Those people don't have souls.
@@Kromsmitesyou Exactly. I can't count the number of dolts I've worked with in the past, who thought HR would back them up when they got into a battle with their manager or the higher ups of the company. I think too many people watched the sitcom "The Office" where they portray the HR guy in it as some kind of impartial judge to back up the workers, when in reality, those guys are just looking for excuses to shit can "trouble makers". The ONLY time HR would back up the worker, is to protect the companies ass, and if they think that worker has some kind of proof of abuse, that could cost the company $$$ in the courtroom.
@@jeffjackson9679 Truer words have never been spoken. I learned the hard way when I reported my manager to HR because she was spending an hour of company time each day gossiping with one of my colleagues about confidential and personal matters about the rest of my colleagues and myself. My manager did everything in her power to get me terminated. I was terminated.
@@jeffjackson9679Union isn't a sure bet. Teacher here, you can get a rep who doesn't get it, doesn't make to the effort to fight or is "wink wink" w/ the principal.
Having encountered people like this, this was hilarious. People are fuckin crazy, man.
Sure you have, buddy.
I've been in interviews like this, like 2 seconds in you know it will be a nightmare and you won't get the job and you don't even want the job anymore but you sit through it and suffer.
Why? You owe them nothing. Bet we all keep open the hope they'll turn it around.
Yeah I know the feeling. The worst part is when you get the job.
Just walk out of a job interview like that. Why waste your time.
I once went into an interview for a data entry position and when I got there, it was a ghetto hair extension store. They told me the manager will be right with me. I politely said "excuse me for a minute" and got the hell out.
@@googlesucks6029 lolol
Most of the comedy in this sketch oozes from the stilted tension and the awkward pauses and silences, and Buscemi doles it out perfectly 😂👌
Steve Buesemi makes the crazy scene work. Great acting skills.
Steve Buscemi is so good. This was a simple script but he makes it so interesting. I have watched it again and again just to observe his facial expressions.
Steve Buscemi is a pro. He puts his comedy hat on and puts his own slant on the comedy performance. On the drama side he never fails to make his character believable and interesting! It's sad his life was cut short by his "pal " Tony Soprano" ! He's a great actor and never fails to " deliver!
This interviewer is like every single interviewer in the state of New Mexico.
Except for the 'you got the job' part. Literally!
Coach Bert 😂. Whenever I see him my brain goes there
😂😂
I went to an interview and the boss didnt like me, he said i was too serious. Fair. 2 years later, post lockdown, i went to another interview, different place, same guy. I didnt remember him. But he did remember me. He was not pleased at the fact that i forgot about him. Good times.
@Digmer so did you get the job?
@@RonWrightwrites when was the last time you had sex?
My favourite non-Monty Python Monty Python sketch.
And now for something completely different.
Reminds me of the mission to the Kilimandscharo...
@@maximilian_3002 Also, the Silly Job Interview sketch. Which is what the OP was talking about.
This is absolutely nothing like Monty Python.
Z's Life
It’s not a Monty python sketch, but anyone who has watched their Flying Circus show can see that it is the spitting image of their style of humor 😂
@@ValensBellator agreed, how can you not picture John Cleese in the Steve Buscemi roll?
Chris Kattan can play the most absurd characters (Mr. Peepers) and he can also nail the straight man role. Underrated great actor.
Michael.. 🤣🤣
I like when he did golem
What are you saying? He's not a straight man? He's playing a straight man ? God man!!! You probably went to yuckla too!
This interviewer is literally how my wife reacts to everything I say
Get out. Now!

A fucking men. I ditched that paranoid distrustful bitch 2 years ago. Literally accused me of cheating on her every day. Buh bye!
Why is she still your wife?
Does she call you John too?
"what does it say here? yucka yuckala yuck yucka!? what?" "that's ucla"
what is that, some kind of club? :D :D
Why didn't you go to Pepperdine?
@@jongilbertson2106 I went to Pepperdine for grad school, and I love that they were mentioned. Like, he's never heard of UCLA, but he HAS heard of the much smaller, Church of Christ-affiliated school twenty miles away from UCLA?
He doesn't get the accolades he deserves. I recently heard he was a firefighter in NY and went back to help during 911. What a guy
Yeah, watch a documentary called A Good Job. It focuses on Steve a lot, and it's about the FDNY.
You should see a picture of him in his youth very handsome
@@dansmith935 I saw him years ago, like 29 & I don't know that I would call him handsome but he was/is incredibly sexy
Buscemi’s best impression of Vince McMahon
Steve Buscemi is a great dramatic and comedic actor, and from all accounts, a really good guy.
And a great fire fighter! He was a fire fighter before he went into acting full time. After 9/11 he volunteered his services to help with the search and rescue.

I’ve been on job interviews like this when I was younger. I’ll never forget this one interview I went on the boss asked me do I intimidate you. I told him no you don’t. I’ll never forget his face and the way he cared himself he was so full of himself I actually got hired and never showed up because I knew it wouldn’t work out ended up getting a job that paid a lot more and I’m glad that I did because now I own my own business doing the same thing
Honestly that is cool but now it's your turn to give the crazy boss interview
@@seanraines5871 Yeah I should do that now. I just interviewed a guy on the phone the other day and I should’ve had them come into my office and be like hey Do I intimidate you
I can imagine bringing some kid into an interview just to ask him if I intimidate them. What better way to waste the new generations time. Your ex boss was a major tool.
@Quentin Hapsburg of course
Great story John
Is this the room for Arguments?
I've told you once..
Well no, you haven't.
-Monty Python
I'm sorry, but this is Abuse. You want Room 12A.
That's the question I have asked myself my entire adult life: Why didn't I go to Pepperdine?
But you didn’t, you went to Uckla
That's the question I ask myself how long has it been since I've had sex not just with that girl but any girl.
Parents weren’t wealthy enough
@@Cinerary Or hip enough😂
The most interesting part of this to me was at 3:42, when Chris Kattan makes his eyes into perfectly black slits of incredulity.
Holy crap, this certainly hits home! Pretty apt depiction of most bosses!
Likewise 🤣

Your bosses suck lol guess thats a common thing
I’ve had a boss like this but without the funny
John nailed it.
steve buscemi being micheal keaton for a sketch
How in gods name can even 1 in 20 not find this absolutely Hilarious? This was freak"n awesome!
Is this why we are always so nervous to go to job interviews? This is how it goes in our minds the night before 😆
This looks right in American businesses the dumbest bastard in the room is always the boss. My Dad called it the septic tank promotion system where the big pieces float to the top. This is funny because it's true.
You're right and my UPS driver dad would have loved that expression.
@Alissa Robertson; 😂😂😂 pathetically true. Your dad is brilliant!!
American? Haven't done much vocational travel have you?
such hostility toward John -- err michael -- from the moment he walked in 🤣
"alright you got the job"
omg I'm gonna die laughing. xD
john left his briefcase because he was so shocked
Love!
His name was Michael
Aww you beat me to it by 4 months. Every word too, including the wrong name. :(
I just keep looping it over and over and laughing. Buschemi makes the character so interesting
..crazy boss steve buscemi vs evil boss will ferrell..now that would be an amazing video.Imagine those two working together.THe first would creep out the workers, the second would kill them..
ahahahahahahaha
That would make a good movie.... Must happen
Oh yeah Mr. Tarkanian, lol.
I had an interview similar to that but it was a Woman. By the end of the interview I shook her hand, thanked her for the interview, and declined the position she was offering. She was highly stressed out.
Maybe if you took the "position" it would help her de-stress.
Chris Kattan is locked into Steve's focused performance and doesn't miss a beat.. Good stuff!!!
On 911 Buscemi put on his firefighter clothes and went to the towers to help out. I can’t tell you i hi ow much I respect this man.
Worked the same long, nightmarish shifts as anyone else for as long as they needed him. Has never asked for recognition or attention because of it. Heck of a guy.
@@MatthewChristianMurray he is a good man.
I doubt he makes many mistakes and he looks like he remembers his lines. He is probably great at improv also.
Buscemi rocks!
He's so good at being condescending.
Brilliant sketch.
That said, I have no idea why Natasha Henstridge appears at the end.
If it was modern times I think they would rename it "craigslist job interview" lol
I’ve had interviews like this. I’m triggered
Not exactly like this, but it does remind me of some interviews I have had.
That's when you get up & leave.
I'm just before a job interview and came here to relax 😂
In a weird minimalist way this might be the most well written sketch in SNL history. Also a good 5-10 years before this became the norm as "cringe comedy" ala The Office, etc. Both performances are spot on.
this sketch was from 1998
It’s not even the best job interview sketch, which is malfeasance in railway hiring practices
One of the worst sketches ever, even for SNL’s standards 😂
Don’t compare this random nonsense sketche with the office.
@@diegocantelli you’re right the office is cringe af
@@Brainstrain wow, that’s an old, good one.
I thought this was hilarious just because of the weirdness.
Today's SNL crew would no way keep a straight face in this skit, absolutely hilarious.
Who cares?
I swear this is like a Raymond Carver short story or something
Chris Kattan left his briefcase there when he left the room lol
LMFAO!!! Steve Buscemi makes the skit! He’s one of the most talented, versatile actors alive.
Everything he does is top notch!
One time after 2 or 3 minutes at an interview, my interviewer said "we're not going to continue with this", he knew I was high on something, yeah high on coke.
Sounds like a great interview.
@@Cinerary it was a quicky, in and out of there, then I went to the beach
Can we say something about the how Steve Buscemi never once look like he was glancing at cue cards ever in the sketch. That is so rare to see
JOB APPLICANT GOES HOME AND HIS WIFE ASKS "HONEY, HOW DID THE INTERVIEW GO?" TO WHICH HE REPLIED "MY BOSS KIND OF WAS A STRANGE LITTLE GUY, YA KNOW"? Wife- Strange, what you mean by strange? Guy- "You know, he was just Strange!"

Literally in every other review, my boss would be like 'Why did you put this in the highlights section. It's not important, I have never heard of it "
“Yah-ley? I’ve never heard of that school. It’s in New Haven, Connecticut? Only New Haven I’ve heard of is in Idaho. Anyway, despite your fake schooling, you’re clearly a bright guy who can think on his feet. You start tomorrow. Now GET OUT!”
This reminds me of the way he was talking to William H Macy at that meeting in the restaurant in Fargo 🤣🤣🤣
The first minute of this video was so real. Sometimes you just know they aren’t going to give you the job and they already made up their mind
Buscemi is so good at being a villain.
Man I love steve buscemi. Great actor, private life, no known addictions, no harassing his female coleagues. Seem to be less and less ‘normal’ actors...
"When's the last time you had sex!" @ Natasha Henstridge
Oh, my sweet innocent lamb...huge % of actors have always been out there - they or the studios hid it. Most hide it now because if you're a questionable person, they might lose money on you in a production. No one will hire you. This has happened to a lot of actors with problems, careers just die - unless you're Mel Gibson and you can afford to make your own movies.
That was the most serious character I've seen chris kattan do. He's good
Like Mango? Please?
@@hitmanhydraulics645 mango is hilarious
When you realize an interview is going badly, just start asking ridiculous questions, for fun. 😎
for some strange reason this felt like a Kids In The Hall sketch to me
Buscemi and Kataan were so laser-focused into this dry but stupidly hilarious sketch. Very KitH/Flying Circus-esque.
SO REALISTIC THAT THAT SKETCH NOT ONLY MADE ME FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE, BUT IN DIRE NEED TO SEEK OUT A QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL THERAPIST BECAUSE I'VE HAD DEALINGS WITH A SUPERVISOR JUST LIKE HIM IN MY PAST.
Buscemi really giving me big Michael Keaton vibes.
Same
Bushcemi reminds me of his character in Fargo in this.
Buchsemi nailed the Fargo character
"So... do you own a doghouse?"
One of the weirder sketches...but I still love it! Chris Kattan is a way underrated cast member :D
Oh I wish SNL actors could nowadays look at the person they're talking to instead of cue cards.
They’ve always looked at cue cards.
Pretty magic. From firefighter to SNL.
Wow, he certainly can separate his personal misery from his ability to hire the guy, congrats...l'd kill everybody if l hadn't had it in 9 yrs..
I’ve had roommate’s like this 😂
I love everytime he goes "god, MAN" I crack up... The audience doednt know what's up lol
There are interviews like this one.
Buscemi is a truly amazing actor
First half reminds me of my pharmacist 😂
It was aired on 98'...21 years ago! Dangggg
I could tell by the diplomat briefcase that it was around that era

22 years now!
That's some fucked up shit isn't it
This was probably my favorite SNL episode
That's how Steve Jobs acted with employees
Yes. I heard...
Very funny, Steve played the role very well.
SNL should have recreations for throwback sketches. This was a great skit. Would love to see Alex Moffat and James Austin Johnson do this one.
Whoa. Good call on that casting, man. I'd love to see that :)
That nutcase made him forget his suitcase
That's totally my previous Boss.
this is pretty much how USPS interviews go.
Buscemi is giving off some serious Dave Foley vibes in this one.
I've had bad interviews before and ended up getting the job... and good interviews that I didn't. It's weird how that works...
I'm struck by two things. First: how did this wonderfully bizarre sketch ever get past the first read-through? And second, how can they get away with not seeming to look at cue cards and just about everyone else can't manage it?
One time I had a job interview and it looked like I wasn't going to get it and the boss asked about my history and why I went back to working with glass after getting an education and geomatic engineering and why I wanted to survey now all of a sudden.. so dressed to the nines I crawled over his desk give him a close-up view of the large scar on my chin and how I had recently gotten it from working with glass, the second I sat back down he said you've got the job I need someone who isn't afraid to crawl around in the bush and on roofs and yell at rich people😂😂😂😂
Chris Kattan playing a normal person in a sketch. My brain doesn't know what to do with that.😂
Steve looks like Gary Sinise
This is much more sad than funny. I love it.
“Michael” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
