I'll be visiting Dumaguete in early December. I plan on landing in Cebu, saying hello to come acquaintances, then taking the ferry over. I set aside two weeks vacation.
But the ferry tickets early as they can sell out space. The ferry ride will take a whole day. It's about 4.5 hours & between waiting to board, ticket checks & off boarding you will spend a full day on that trip. You may be fully aware of this & specifically want this experience. But I just wanted to note for a 2 week trip that ferry ride will eat a day in itself & some people may not be comfortable on the ocean for over 4 hours. Especially during rainy season & choppy waves even for a large ferry. Boarding & such is always a hassle but you flights really aren't too much more & will give you a couple hours back for exploring. If you do want the ferry experience for the longer ride go with the top option for more comfort. The ferry ride from Duma to Siquijor is a great one though.
Calvin is super nice...he's given me some very helpful tips and info about both the Philippines in general and Dumaguete specifically. Glad I met him and I look forward to seeing him when he shows up at the expats meeting.
Anyone else see a small pattern of folks politely, jokingly, but with hidden seriousness & truthfulness in their words when they say, I found paradise, now the rest of you stay away. Lol
I always get a kick out of seeing all the orange haired seniors in the Philippines. Filipina's love blonde hair so every 50 plus year old man runs to the 7-11 to buy some blonde hair coloring that turns orange. I present an example here.
Semi-Christian? but thinks he is more a Buddist?!? LOL, you are or you aren’t.... Not hating here, just making a point that either you are a Christian or you are not.
Interesting guy, so great score, but the editing was choppy and hard to follow and Please~No More Crotch Shots... very cringe. I had to listen to it off screen. Peace and Love, B Goat
As the only Expat in the Philippines that has visited every single province and city Dumaguete did not make my top 100 you really need to get out and explore more
Guy is trying too hard to fit into a niche that i think he will have a very hard time to succeed. That terrain is mainly for retirees because most of people who want and can move to the Philippines are retirees. Or maybe a super charismatic guy but then he will have to do a real travel vlog, not sit down interview with random boomers. If he was my son or brother I would advise to take a step back, go back to the states, look for a job and maybe do content on the side and see how it goes. As the other commentator said, not hating but just me think. I told the same to Dr Mike TV guy back in 2019 or so. And I think he eventually moved back to the US and found a job...Last time I check, which was a wiser move than roaming around SEA in younger years and hoping that one day they will be the next Joe Rogan. There are also other opportunity costs, not just wages such as making connections with people of same age, not that there is anything wrong with making friends will older people, but for most part you will reap more benefit and joy if you have friends in your league. Plus think retirement contributions schemes, the 401k and stuff. Plus actually getting some relevant work experience that you can leverage over time, even into retirement. Idk😂

Let’s meet up if you have time! Please let me know if you’re open to an interview, no worries if not.

I absolutely agree Kevin :)
Where and when is this expats meeting?
First time I've seen an expat has address cultural life there. Good find!
Thanks so much :)

Great show
Thank you so much Michael
Congratulations on the baby Calvin. Did it increase your SS check?

How to get in touch with this man, my male friend from Florida wants to connect with him...
Please ask your friend to reach out to the Unitarian church in Dumaguete

Just some liberal from California with a quest for some spirituality. 😂
Appreciate the interview but the visuals aren't great looking up the legs of someone's shorts like that.
Thank you for the feedback!
Hehehe. I know what you are thinking
@@BigBrother04 What are you thinking?
@@EasternDreamer615 about what?
He did it on purpose. He's a lieral, and everyone in the states knows how liberals are. Sickening.

Why so much editing? Jerky movements throughout most of the video? Otherwise a very nice informative interview.😊
