Supergas are my absolute favourite. You can get the 2750 Classic canvas style for about £30, sometimes less, depending on how rare the colour you want is. I was a loyal converse wearer for years and years but Superga is just a way better shoe, lasts longer, more comfortable and no more expensive than the All Stars. I live in them now.
Adriana I know Supergas are really underrated for what they are. I've had a pair of supergas for 5 yrs and they are my absolute faves. They beat all my others and that's saying a lot because i have lots of trainers. I need to get a new pair actually.

The Common Projects shoe was nice looking but nothing special for that price. The Guccis were beautiful though. They were my favorites by far. They totally stood out in the pack.

The Common Projects - you chose the wrong ones! The plain Original Achilles are the best and can't be compared to any other sneakers. They are so comfortable in every possible way, the sole, the leather, the fit, everything. You should have gone for those instead of the Tournament ones. A little bit more pricey, but so worth it. I'm on my third colour and pair for the past five years, nothing compares.

Please dont buy Porsellis. If she wears them for a week, she might rave about them. But they are a shame when it comes to durability for how much they cost. The biggest waste of money in my lifetime award goes to those flats.

For everybody who wishes to buy Vans Old School I'm just bringing in my opinion for information :) I have the same blue ones as Lizzy and they did rub me at the back of the foot at the beginning but they're good now. I sometimes walk a lot in them and I don't find them as comfortable as my Nike AF1. But they are great and go with a lot of outfits !

Great video! I'm definitely a leather trainer gal. Love my Converse dainty ox in white leather and my No Name's Arcade Straps in black leather, both are so easy to style. But I've got my eye on Sezane's Jack sneakers in nude and Bobbies la fugitive in nude, as well.
I have the Common Projects in the blush pink colourway. If you have relatively wide feet like myself, AVOID. Whilst they look beautiful, everyone said to go a full size down (they don't do half sizes). So I tried on a UK 7 which is my TTS, and it fitted but felt long on the toe box. A UK 6 felt a lot more snug, and I thought as the leather is soft it would stretch and break in. NOPE. Several months later, and they still hurt my feet after wearing them all day. If you're looking for cool sneakers but have a bit more of a budget, go buy some Adidas Stan Smiths x Raf Simons. I have two pairs now, and they dwarf the comfort of my Common Projects whilst looking effortlessly cool with the "R" that only real fashion nerds would know stands for :) haha
I am so proud of me for once I am "on trend" haha, I bought my Old Skools back in Jan and I have been OBSESSED with them, they go with absolutely everything, without a doubt the best shoe purchase I have made in a long time. I did however get them in Leather - because I'm in scotland, and it rains. Plus I love how slightly different they look (the stitching and laces are black vs white) and everyone is wearing them just now, so nice to have a slightly different pair lol! :) Love the video
I have three pairs of Nike sneakers that are completely flat and I love them! I'm not a big trend follower so the Cortez wasn't really on my radar but, personal opinion, I think they're absolutely hideous. I think style wise you'd probably like the SB Zoom Janoski better, they're more in line with the Vans Old Skool. I have a pair and they're super comfortable. I love those and Vans and Converse the most. I love the look of the Gucci ones but in a couple of years (or less) I could see those falling out of style pretty quickly since they're so gimmicky. I've had a pair of Superga flatforms before and had to sell them after only wearing them once or twice because they were so unbelievably heavy but this makes me think they might be worth another shot! Can't wait till it's been a while and you do another Testing Basics update to see how you get on with these in the long run!
I have had 5 pairs of Supergas over the years and love them. My favourite pair are the gunmetal flatforms but after a lot of wear, the sole is coming unstuck from the upper and the piping at the top is coming unstitched. So while they are great shoes they're not the best in terms of longevity
Lovely video as always! Though I have to say I disagree with the common projects because for me they have been so much more comfortable on the feet than the vans and supergas. I usually wear a size 36.5 and I go for 35 in these but are softer on your feet and much less heavier than the other brands. If you do choose to give them another try, choose the white ones (I recommend the retro styles which wont dig onto your feet as much) and wear them a couple more times! Great video though and keep up the great work :D
Having owned a pair of each one of these except for the Guccis (which I think are hideous in the WORST possible way eugh) and the Supergas in this specific style, I must say I 200% agree with your assessment :) I will add though that the Vans look nicer on you because you have such tall, slim legs. On a shorter person these really are quite objectively unflattering, and worse when in skirt/shorts. They either make a shorter person look like they are wearing clown shoes or make one look stumpy and chunky... Mainly because the opening of the shoe is cut quite narrow and the tongue is higher. If anyone is after a pair of Common Projects, I recommend Axel Arigatos instead. Still premium with a good fraction off the price tag, and definitely do not hurt the feet as much. It is almost universally agreed amongst serial trainer wearers/owners that CPs are not known to be comfortable and take quite a bit to wear in, and they're sizing is weird (indeed, always size down)! And finally... Supergas will cut into your heel more often than not. I am surprised these didn't so I'll have to try this style the next time. Sorry for the verbosity..... This post got me so excited! Hope this helps anyone who is deliberating over a pair.
Such a helpful video thanks for spending the time on these Lizzy :) I was thinking to get some of the Nike Cortez but think i might pass on those now as you're right about how they look a little bit like a toy lol. In terms of favourite trainers, i am a huge fan of Common Projects, i have two pairs of the classic style of them (the ones you got are metallic and also have a different sized sole) so wanted to share my experience with the classic ones :) I definitely agree to size down, a full or half size works well. I usually wear size 37.5/38 in shoes and my CP are a 37. I think depending on the shape of your foot you will notice different breaking in process, for my boyfriend (who has 4 pairs lol were fans over here) he never experienced any rubbing. For myself however, the back of my ankle was rubbed quite a lot for the first few weeks when i wore them. Its now been a year though and my white common projects are my most warn trainers, i walk like 18,000 steps in them on holiday and in London day to day and my feet feel great in them. I also love how the leather wears, so i think trying different styles of them could be a good thing to do :) Wow that was longer than i expected but wanted to share my thoughts on Common Projects because they're my go too! Nike tennis classics are my favorite! They're leather and have a much nicer sole than the Cortez. But if I had the $$ those Gucci sneakers would be mine!!! Thanks Lizzy for another awesome video!

I've especially been loving the Testing basics series and I'm always excited when a cheaper item wins :) I think it would also be really helpful if you could just mention in which country each item of clothing is made in. Very often, this info can't be found online but it's a piece of info that always interests me.
I find Vans more confortable than Superga, they don't hurt my toes at all if I wear them all day. My faves are still Converse, though, nothing will ever compare 🖤
I got a pair of silver trainers from stradivarius in the sale for £12, so unbelievably comfortable and I love them so much that I wish that I'd bought another pair 😍 I also have a white pair of trainers from them. Would 100% recommend!!! ✨

Vans Old Skool lovers, what's your favourite colour combination of them? I was thinking I would get more use from the black & white ones (as shown on the video) but I don't absolutely love the look of them. However, I love the look of the dark/light blue ones, but how easy are they to style? (My wardrobe is basically monochrome, just FYI)

I wish I could wear Supergas - I've tried a few times but my "toe box" area is too wide - you need to have more tapered feet to fit them well. Love Vans. Those ones look awesome.

in Hong Kong especially, people wear Skechers Classic, the Onitsuka Tiger white one and Stan Smith like crazy. So good to have Superga as a refreshing option.

In terms of favourite trainers, i am a huge fan of Common Projects, i have two pairs of the classic style of them (the ones you got are metallic and also have a different sized sole) so wanted to share my experience with the classic ones :) I definitely agree to size down, a full or half size works well. I usually wear size 37.5/38 in shoes and my CP are a 37. I think depending on the shape of your foot you will notice different breaking in process, for my boyfriend (who has 4 pairs lol were fans over here) he never experienced any rubbing. For myself however, the back of my ankle was rubbed quite a lot for the first few weeks when i wore them. Its now been a year though and my white common projects are my most warn trainers, i walk like 18,000 steps in them on holiday and in London day to day and my feet feel great in them. I also love how the leather wears, so i think trying different styles of them could be a good thing to do :) Wow that was longer than i expected but wanted to share my thoughts on Common Projects because they're my go too! Nike tennis classics are my favorite! They're leather and have a much nicer sole than the Cortez. But if I had the $$ those Gucci sneakers would be mine!!!

I've just discovered your videos because of Anna and I love them! I've especially been loving the Testing basics series and I'm always excited when a cheaper item wins :) I think it would also be really helpful if you could just mention in which country each item of clothing is made in. Very often, this info can't be found online but it's a piece of info that always interests me.

I find Vans more confortable than Superga, they don't hurt my toes at all if I wear them all day. My faves are still Converse, though, nothing will ever compare 🖤

I got a pair of silver trainers from stradivarius in the sale for £12, so unbelievably comfortable and I love them so much that I wish that I'd bought another pair 😍 I also have a white pair of trainers from them. Would 100% recommend!!! ✨

Excellent as always! I feel like I'm the only person that's found the Vans to rub, I've had to put some heel protectors in :( I do love them though and they are so much easier to style, I have them in a black suede which I love! I don't wear trainers enough to justify designer pairs so I'm definitely with you on this @lizzyhadfield

I was wondering, since the warmer months are around the corner, if you could do a flat slipper sandal testing basics. I love my Birkenstocks but here in Berlin everyone is wearing them. If you are going to be testing the sportier trainers, can you try to get your hands on a pair of Allbirds? They're a newer brand and they're made of merino wool from New Zealand! I hear they're super comfortable! Would love to know what you think of them!

Hey Lizzy, I love this series! I was wondering if you'd consider doing court heels at some point? I think they're quite the staple in a work wardrobe and can be worn more casually as well. I'd love to see how you would style them with jeans/trousers/dresses :)

How about doing a testing basics on a specific item, but then having them all cost the same? For example trainers, but all cost a 100 +/- 10? I think that could be interesting too.

I love your outfits here and all your videos generally. the outfit with the white high waisted Rachel Comey pants is wonderful, and the red and pink too. I wish I could wear Supergas - I've tried a few times but my "toe box" area is too wide - you need to have more tapered feet to fit them well. Love Vans. Those ones look awesome.
