I think you got a good deal with the 226 and the 4-150 would work great with it too. I enjoy seeing Buddy the Dog, my dad had a dog similar looking to Buddy the Dog. Those welds look like something I would do, but I ain't claiming them welds, I blame other folks for that, just kidding. Thanks for the fun, have a great evening!😃
I think you misunderstood. It wasn't the front discs on the soil finisher that brought the rocks up, it was the whole tool. The sweeps would dig them out and the spike teeth on the back would roll them right up top. I remember dad doing a field demo and the idea was that the Glencoe Soil Finisher would incorporate chemicals really well. We did a pass to loosen the ground up like it had some primary tillage done. Then we spread a bag of flour on the ground fairly thick so it could be seen. Then we made a pass with the finisher, drove a steel plate in the ground, dug away one side and pulled the plate away. This allowed us to see a profile of the ground and you could clearly see how well the flour had been mixed with the soil. It was finny, because at first it was showing flour deeper than what the finisher was working. Then we figured out the steel plate was dragging some flour down with it when we drove it in. We made a second and third pass to see how much difference that would make on the mixture of flour and soil. I don't recall a huge difference with that part, but I distinctly remember how many rocks had come up by the end of it. All sorts of them.
Great buy! We had a 226 I believe 22’ and worked great, replaced it with a Krause field finisher and wish now we had kept the 226 as extra because it made a very level seed bed just needed a rolling basket behind it. Thanks for the video.
I’d say that was a deal. I have a 230 the newer high clearance version. Love the tool. Around here they are the main spring tillage tool. Usually one pass maybe 2 if it’s weedy or rough. Most have 3 bar spring tooth harrows. Newer ones often have spring tooth harrow and rolling baskets. 95% of the land is fall tilled. So Soil finishers with disks in front like your landloll are rare here. Infact I’d never seen one in person. chisel plows or diskrippers excepting some special project. are strictly fall tools. Disks or deep tillage of any sort make terrible lumps in spring on the clay.
Awesome find! What a great deal! Please tell me that random bolt setting on the top of the roller basket frame just rode there all the way from the auction yard back to the field lol!
“I’ll bring you back right after the fiery crash”. 😂 You pull enough junk home you should consider a set of lights with magnetic bases. You could put a trailer wire harness on it to make it convenient.
We had a Glencoe soil finisher at the dairy I help out on. The last time I used it was behind a hot 4450. That tractor didn't know it was working because I have had the same finisher behind my 4020. As long you weren't trying to get up a steep sandy gravely hill it was good too. The front disk gangs were for residue management so we adjusted them up enough to just scim the surface.
Always good to have backups. By the way what's the deal with that 115+hp looking Deere in the background? Does it need help(you are going to work on it) or did someone get lost and deliver it to the wrong address?
I think you did great on that! I've kinda had my eye out for one but there aren't any in my area. I think they would handle more trash than the older 3 bar cultivators.
i drug a 4 row ih 455 corn planter home with a blown tire on it before because it was only 10 miles to home and it was 100 degrees in the shade and it was also a sunday and no one had a 235/35/14 tire in stock it was a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG 10 miles at 5mph along with a corn planter throwing the damn truck around
You complain about your "Narrow Roads" that would be considered superhighways compared to the gravel trail we drive to get to our home. For 2 cars to meet and pass both have to place their passenger sides out in the grass and near the ditch and ease by each other. It is a good way to see if it is some outsider. Many times it is a chance to chat with someone you know. Today, on the chip and seal shock absorber and tire test track, compliments of our wonderful road commissioner who wastes money keeping the wealthy donor's roads in good shape, we had some idiot coming toward us at a high rate of speed. It was so tempting to not place our right wheels on the edge of the chip-and-seal road and take our share to the middle imaginary line down the center. With the very uneven surface, they would have either hit us or bounced into the ditch and slid belly up to the church of the almighty dollar. Meet a tractor with duals on it and you have to pull off into someone's driveway to let the tractor by. We would kill for the horrible roads you have.
Looks like you made a great purchase!
Time will tell, but I think I did alright!
Looks like a pretty good buy

4-150 woooooow pull that thing
It should pull it!!
@@rosstheoliverman I hope so maybe if you make the tractor more better lol you did well on that one sir
That machine should work really well for you and you got a great deal.
Amen on the having double on the old equipment. Might be the barley pops talking but makes sense lol

It’s very possible that when we discussed that I was pretty deep in the barley pops. There’s a good chance i misunderstood most of what we said 🤣
@@rosstheoliverman 😂😂😂
You will find you will like this one better. The rolling baskets make a fine seed bed.
Nice bud
Looks like it should work good.
👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
What a great deal.

Very nice field cultivator Ross,
Ross, wow no excitement taken your treasure home 😂 Thanks Michael
Oh come on Ross, the solution isn't a smaller disk but a bigger tractor 😂😂😂

Buddy the dog must always enjoy the excitement that he sees with the adventures of Ross The Oliver Man
Man that was a deal and in nice shape too. Glad you were able to get it.
Good video Ross. Looks like you got a great deal. Another sweet toy. Buddy looked satisfied with your deal also.
I pulled a 22ft Brady FC with 5 bar harrow behind my 1456. I also had a 14ft Oliver 252 and it towed horribly.
Solid packer or crowfoot packer behind your Oliver field cultivator and 1755
Pretty nice field cultivator it's almost like a sculpture. That Minneapolis Moline next to it looked really good too.
Definitely a good deal. Have to have tools to play with the tractors. See you later.
Looks a good buy 👍
I think you got a great buy an I think buddy the dog approves of it also
Awesome find! What a great deal! Please tell me that random bolt setting on the top of the roller basket frame just rode there all the way from the auction yard back to the field lol!
😃😃😃😃😃👍👍👍👍👍
We have two of the Glencoe soil finishers . Love them but we have rebuilt both of them . Great bye ross , From turkey creek farms be safe n thankful
Just right for putting behind your 4-150

Yep both! Nice look tool ! For a tool!! Ha
Ross, you can always take a little cut out of the disks to mak3 your pull easier.

Nice deal
Squirrel 🐿️
Looks good and a good price.

I knew it was a 226 as soon as I saw filed cultivator
😁👍👍👍👍👍

Is that a JD 4020 in the background?? 😆
Yes
You bought a field cultivator and I bought a pair of your beach sandles
I would buy the baskets from ya for 800 any day. Dang good deal Ross
You're thinking backwards Ross. Need a 4-225, not a smaller disk. 😊
You have that in cylinders.
I've only seen 226s as 20ft and 24ft
you will need more land for parking
22 ft with 6 wheels
Cool
moveing equipment onthe highway is always risky
Hey, you could always spend money on things that will always cost you. Lawyers know how to bleed a turnip to death.
