  • Leaving France for a new life in Guadeloupe is a decision that Celia made on the spur of the moment but it's not one that this mother of two regrets in the slightest.
    In this interview, Celia explains her motivations for not returning to France, and what is life like in Guadeloupe. The story of leaving France for a new life in the french Antilles will hopefully inspire others of Guadeloupe descent to make the same move too.

    I've only seen Guadeloupe on the map. Now I'm curious about it. 🤔 I'm so glad things lined up for her to make this change.

      Me too! The cultural scene there looks very vibrant. Maybe an Exodus Collective field trip is in order 😁

      Yeah, I’m guadeloupean. I love us not being that known. Foreigners wanting to learn about us is very appreciated though I want us to steer away from tourism and France in general.

    Yall have to learn Guadeloupean Creole (mostly spoken language by the locals) and French to be well integrated in the country

      I speak Haitian creole and I still have a hard time understanding my aunt/godmother from Guadeloupe 😂

      I imagine they're pretty good given its a Guadeloupe is considered a part of France...

      Let me know if you have specific questions that I can maybe help with. Let be honest it is not that simple as we have limited specialists and getting an appointment can take ages( it always help if you know somebody) On a bright note the new hospital is partially opened, we have some eye centers which recently opened but yes island reality in some areas

    Could you make a video comparing Grenada and Guadeloupe and how they are similar and different? Maybe other videos comparing with St. Lucia, Jamaica?

      Most of the islands are the same,,i was born in Martinique, lived in Trinidad from age 4-5, visited several Caribbean islands moved to the U.S. visited Cameroon Africa, where my husband is from, and i am planning on moving to Cameroon in the future,,Even Cameroon is so similar to the Caribbean,,even the foods, except i only saw breadfruit growing on the coast of Cameroon.of course in the Caribbean english is spoken the most,French ,Spanish. next

    What about english speaking persons, how hard or easy it is to find employment for unskilled persons? I do speak St.lucian Creole.
    I am a British and St.Lucian citizen.

      Guadeloupean Creole is very different but i think you will understand people here. You also have to learn french

      @@stephaniefaustin4394 well we’re under French law, so if you want to understand that i think there’s a bunch of videos of Americans explaining the legalities and process of moving to France.

      @@stephaniefaustin4394 if u type « agences immobilières guadeloupe » u’ll see a couple real estate companies for renting and buying here. There’s also a few apps to help u look for a place: « Bien’ici » and « Leboncoin ». Getting a job here isn’t that easy though, it’s best if u know someone. But speaking English is a huge advantage since tourism is our main breadwinner, so I encourage u to try ur shot.
