Very useful, but I have to correct you - in a friendly way of course - there’s a chord which most don’t know and is not only a beautiful sound but possibly the least known played harmony in all of music - minr7th(#5).
I thought they had specific names haha. 1. I used to write it like that but G/C is quicker. 2. this chord is all over SongSelect CCLI chord charts lol 3. I’d say it is an add2, because it actually resolves to 1 instead of the 3. Case in point, Pre-Chorus of Leeland’s “Inhabit” 5. in Gospel we voice with shell LH 1 b7 and RH b9 4 5 8. A would be in the melody so it could be Xb7sus4(13,b9) 6. from studying the block chords of George Shearing and Errol Garner, it’s easier to say Xmaj7#11/7 like interpreted by Chordie. 7. minMaj7(13). The chord tones should be noted first and then the tensions. 9. Also for speed and to get the musician to play exactly what I want to hear it’s just Bb/Ab.
Oh shit, I've used the Sus4b9 before. But it was an A chord instead! I never found anything to do with it other than alternate between it and Amin9 though.
The tone of your keyboard makes it difficult to definitively hear the characteristics of each chord. Your instrument produces a very warm sound, and if it were brighter, it would be easier for me to hear the distinctive nature of each tone within the harmonic structure.
Thank you for another inspiring lesson!
Thanks to have remembered me that I can omit the 7 on a Xsus4b9 chord, and move this position everywheree

I call that first one the bliss chord, since it lacks the minor triad. No sadness.
amazing as usual brother. what piano sound is that you're using?
Just purchased harmony magic. Thanks Noah!
@@allinthemind2006 my pleasure, hope you enjoy it!
I love these chords, and have spent years telling my students and guitarists to stop calling them m7#5 🤦
@@LeviClay hahah oh yeah I can see the logic there 🤣

I can name all the chords. It may not be the real name, but I’ll have a name for it.
@@robinsarchiz hahah that’s awesome- I’m curious what your names are
@@NoahKellman for example a dominant7#9 might be The Philandering Grandpa, because it’s cool but also feels wrong.
@@robinsarchiz i have always called lamely voiced dom 7th b9 chords, "my grandme's oldsmobile." so i might be a little older than you.
So real
Can I name "Em7b13" instead of "Csus2/E" and "CM7sus2/E"?
Yes. The name depends on the function. Is it a C chord in the music? Or is it an E chord? That defines what name it is.
name 3 chords...
my hands are to small for this, I hate myself
@@ol4765 nahh just roll the chords! Not necessary to hit all the notes at once. Sounds better rolled anyway :)
first one, sue, second one, terry
