- The Planet J1407b AKA Super Saturn & Lord of The Rings is well known as the planet with the largest known ring system in the universe. After doing some researched I had to ask myself, is J1407b real?

CORRECTION: J1407b’s hypothetical ring size was closer to 200x bigger than Saturn, not 40,000. Somehow made that error while scripting.

@@gdsushib0y361i agree
If it was 40,000 x larger, it would be 46.7 au units big, which is bigger then the distance from pluto to the sun, and half the distance of sedna to the sun. which really puts into prospective how large space is
4th comment! anyways, I never believed Kyplanet until now...

To be fair, something that is the equivalent of the J1407b myth could certainly still exist out there. A giant ring system that no one has yet to see. Something is waiting to be discovered that is even more glorious than J1407b.
This is true, the vast majority of objects out there we will never observe. It’s likely that there is a planet out there with rings even bigger than J1407b’s
There is An exoplanet named assassin-21b its rings are 3x wider Than j1407b rings or 600x wider Than saturns and this planet is only 100 Million years old só that turns it completly young the rings can be proto planetary disks too in reality they dicovered 2 of these planets the other one Name is gaia 21 bcv B the rings of gaia 21 bcv B are 1.5 times wider Than j1407b or 300 times wider Than saturns and the age is also Young with 160 Million years old.😉👍

Even though it’s not real there are other of them! Kyplanet also made a video of j1407b like planets
its a brown dwarf system with an evolving protoplanetary disk the size of one AU
If a Mars-Like Planet replaced Venus, Super-Earth replaced Earth with Mercury as its moon in orbit around it and an Earth-Type Planet replaced Mars with Io as its moon in orbit around it, what would happen to each planet? What would the climate, conditions, environment and temperature be like on each planet, would any of those substituted planets be habitable, livable, inhabitable and hospitable to life?
the Earth-sized planet replacing Mars would probably be quite decent

I enjoy watching Kyplanet's videos. He's quite underrated, people often underestimate him and often side with AI generated scam channels.
And thats why we do science folks!!!
What I always wondered was... how did those rings created? Like... usually rings appear when a moon or a set of moons reaches the Roche limit, so the tidal forces of the planet tear the moon apart into pieces, creating a ring system. But in this case the Roche limit can't be so many times bigger than those of Saturn!
Or eventually another idea is that if two small moons collide and they disintegrate completely (but I'm not sure this is possible), they also might create a ring system. But so big... it would be impossible, it would mean that all of its moons collided at the same time which kind of unlikely...?
But I never though the planet didn't exist at all, I just supposed that what created such a big ring system there must have happened a phenomena that we do not know yet. (I was hoping for alien structures or something similar)
Knowing that the planet is not a planet at all makes me kind of sad :c
But, hey, the idea that we saw a rogue planet/red dwarf or something like that is even more exciting honestly! Especially because we would have been extremely lucky!
wonderful comment, it might be possible if somehow a planet got destroyed orbiting any low mass stars like brown dwarfs without other body destroying it until someone rings formed if you want these rings to get bigger for something like j140 you need way more objects perfectly re-creating how the previous ones did. the more similar each planet's mass material the more perfect this ring looks and the chances are beyond impossible. I'm not a physicist knowing how to create this but these are my thoughts. these newly discovered planets that might have even bigger rings? I'm not a believer to these
the simpler explanation is that its a rogue brown dwarf with an evolving protoplanetary disk about 1 AU
Another theory is that the planet could be much further away from it's star and could have an orbit like Neptune which takes over 150 years to complete.
Thanks for being truthful and informative lol
Real J1407
J1407 is an object that surrounds our galaxy. J1407 is a black dwarf star that is becoming a new system, it is possible to find planets around J1407. and J1407 has a size that may be smaller than the sun but over time it gets bigger. however, the J1407 ring is real but not as big as we think, it is just gas floating in its orbit
Who knows? Maybe we can detect what J1407B really was. In your previous video, you explained how went to the moon only 66 years after the first plane flight. Maybe we’d be able to build better telescopes. Maybe we might even be able to find another ‘Lord of the Rings’. We might just have to wait another 66 years.
Fly high j1407b, you will be missed😢🕊
How could it be missed if it never existed to begin with

yes it was fake some people still think the planet exists
It does exist, but it's not a planet. There's no plausible explanation as to why the star randomly dimmed, other than the fact that there was a brown dwarf with a protoplanetary disk.

You know what's crazy? I did a whole presentation on rings for my science class a couple years ago, and J1407b was one of the topics. Basically, all that information I told them about J1407b was false all along
My entire life has been a lie.
now people gotta rename it to j1408
just like the recent info/studies that dropped about the ultra-short period exoplanet K2-399b. New studies have confirmed it to be a pair of binary ultra-cool stars that orbit the G-type star and not an exoplanet

Suggestion: Replace all the planets with objects, make earth a bowling ball, then collide a watermelon the same size and mass with the object you’re colliding it with. For example, if you’re colliding a watermelon with bowling ball earth (which you should try terraforming) you should make the watermelon have the same size and mass as the earth. Pls try my suggestion you’re the best TH-camr ever and I rly want to have my suggestion in a video!
I was theorising the fact that it was impossible for a planet to have such big ring, thx ship for confirming my though .
Opinion: J1407b is a failed star with an extraordinarily large and thin protoplanetary disk
As much as it sucks that it’s more than likely a rouge brown dwarf, I still think it’s cool to think that it’s just flying out there, alone in the dark vacuum of space. Even if it doesn’t have the rings we thought it did. It’s just out there, and we’ll never see it again. That kinda makes up for it imo.
Me being depressed when I heard is not real cause j1407b is my fav exoplanet
Suggestion: take the biggest star and the biggest black hole make them binary and have earth orbit
the though of the rings being unstable would problably be even more cool. Just imagine NASA finding planet like this, everybody would be fricking out and start loving it
4:03 I guess a protoplanetary disc are like rings of stars.
Kind of sad that J1407B was a lie
I remember trying to show this planet to my uncle in space engine mid summer and couldn’t find it. I was a little sad and started thinking maybe I wrote it wrong or it was a bug. I had remembered showing it to my grandma so I knew I wasn’t tripping.
Hey Chip, I watched your videos on a different account on guest. I love your videos.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Finally people would know more about the misinformation
I like how big TH-camrs don't make and spread misinformation
you will be missed J1407b 🫡...
to people who think J1407b is older than saturn, its not. saturn is 15.6 billion or idk(i dont know yet i forgot) while J1407b is younger, it may look like its bigger than saturn, but it just had a lot of moons, because of its atmosphere its so big its bigger than sun(the rings are bigger) and i’ll end here. bye
Man do more “documentaries” (idk what to call it) this was nice
I already knew it was disproven as a planet orbiting the star, I was actually surprised J1407b was still in SE, although it was cool so I didn't mind.

The problem is the NASA website doesn’t update whenever a planet is proven wrong. Once the plan is placed the editors would only add to this list not remove it.

To just how massive space really is out there I’m sure within that undescribable size of space a planet like that exists out there.
the scientists who discovered this mustve been search by the nasa
Heard Saturn might be losing its rings by 2028, not sure if it's true, have done a bit of research on it and it seems true. I think it would be cool and interesting if you did a video about it! :)

Milkey way has their own Lord of the rings Before the film 😮🤯🤯
And just because a game doesn’t have it in there doesn’t mean it’s not real
tbh it being a brown dwarf with a protoplanetary disc makes much more sense than a planet with super big rings
Correction: J1407b is a brown dwarf, and is super young. The rings you see are actually a planetary disk. This explains both its age and that its a myth.
Celestia has a add on with j1407b on its website but you have to get the game to get the add on

There are two candidates that arw also eclipsing their stars. One 'planet'is still exlipsing its star (a K type) wheras another one had its eclipse past a b type star. Both 'planets' can both replace J1407B.

THANK YOU FOR SPREADING THE TRUTH AROUND SPACE CHIP (like kyplanet)
I think J1407b is real, but it isn’t an exoplanet, but Instead a rogue brown dwarf with huge rings around it that just flew by J1407 at the perfect time that astronomers were looking at J1407.
And that is what space chip said.
