I don't think many people believe a voluntary organization has a right to their labor. It's just the opposite. Running a voluntary organization can be a bit of a challenge because it is difficult to demand action from people. Also, because the organization doesn't provide the workers with resources, it is the place where they devote less dedication than their jobs that actually pay them. Inevitably, many voluntary organizations have to pay people to get some stuff done.
Nobody has a 'right' to anybody's labor. However, a well-run voluntary organization that serves a valuable purpose will attract both willing volunteers and also committed employees. Of course many voluntary organizations do need paid staff. If their ambition is big, they need the certainty of contracted staff, to execute their plans with confidence. That is in the interests of their beneficiaries.
