I know this is going against the current here, but I am personally very tired of leopard print. I think the fashion industry has done this classic print a disservice by overdoing it for so many years. I personally avoid it. Here where I live, we call trousers "dress pants". I love wearing them because they look so elegant. So many things here are classics, with the possible exception of wide leg pants, and that is always a plus, to me! Like you, I'm not sure about vests. I like the look, especially layered, and consider it kind of classic also, but will we wake up one day and find the industry has declared them a "has been"? At which point, we have to be true to our personal style. For example, I wear mostly slim straight jeans shapes because that is my most flattering look. I don't believe straight leg jeans will ever go "out", because I was wearing them in college back in the dark ages! But some people are calling slim (not skinny) jeans "not the most 'modern' shape." Oh well, still going to buy and wear them and feel good. I guess it helps that I don't live in a very fashion forward part of the country!! 😂
I love all of the Jean shapes. I'm very into the wide leg, but enjoy a straight or a skinny just depending on the day. I really want to try the vest look ,maybe get one or two!
I have one leopard long sleeve top from Chicos. I love it but I agree with you one item is enough for me. BTW I love the highlights in your hair, very flattering. Thanks for all you do for our underserved community.
I’m originally from England. There we call pants trousers but we also called them pants. Also we call a purse a handbag. A purse in England is a very small and is used for change.
Love this video, Cathy! It’s great to see fashion for us ladies over 50 without the emphasis on plus sizes. Not every gal over 50 is plus-sized. As for vests, I love my fleece and insulated vests and wear them Fall, Winter, and Spring. They don’t add bulk (the down vests tend to) and they fit underneath jackets and coats. However, dressier vests remind me of the 70s and 80s styles.
Hi Cathy. Wonderful content. You have great taste in fashion and I enjoy all of your videos. Thank you for opening our minds to new trends in fashion. ❤
@@StyleWithCathy Hi Cathy. It is not speedy, unfortunately. However, I am happy to be alive and I have resigned myself that recovery from this could take up to 6 months until I feel like myself again. So, the doctors say. That being said, I am working every day to improve my strength and vitality. Take good care and thank you for your good wishes. ❤️
I love leopard print! I saved a top and pumps. I’m getting more! I love a lot of the fall trends. I’m not a play person, but it’s not as big in FL, where I live, either. I’m 5’ 2” and and apple shape too. Keep the videos coming!
I do like vests but don’t wear them because they aren’t made for women with large busts. They gape in all the wrong places. In Australia pants and trousers are the same thing. Trousers is an older term but the same so it’s like calling a dress a frock dress. It doesn’t make sense. I bought some beautiful Slingbacks from Vaneli at Nordstrom. They are rather expensive but definitely have excellent materials and workmanship and the really good things about them are that they have small block heels and come in multiple widths. I have wide feet but with Vaneli I find the medium width fits me perfectly.
Cathy you look great . Keep it up. I started the game Junes Journey. I love mystery’s. I also watched Downton Abbey for about 4 years from stat to finish. I love that series.
@@annesmith6582 Wow! Harsh! Maybe some are, but mine is not! It is a camel color leather crossbody, and most of the people commenting on mine are very young.
New subscriber here and enjoying ALL your lovely suggestions for us older ladies with bodies that have some natural padding 😂 Thank you Cathy for encouragement to wear bold colors and patterns. If it is correctly sized we can all look fashionable and be confident in how we look. I like, however, that you make it clear that we need not be slaves to fashion either- that our “best look”is when we love ourselves as we are, and feel comfortable and confident in whatever we’re wearing. Thank you!
I’m here for all the trends. I only wear leopard print in accessories. Shoes, bags, scarves, but I purchased a blazer that has cuffed leopard print and it really pops!
Australia here. Most people when referring to Trousers would mean dress pants, Slacks or men’s trousers. Trousers is a more masculine term here. Jeans are just Jeans.
Hi Cathy, Great video!!! I think that Fall 2024 fashion is awesome. I love leopard print and wear it often in the Fall and Winter months more than the cooler months. Bright red is not my favorite but I do love claret. I purchased a Vince Camuto claret red silk blouse with a v-neck and a single ruffle down the front. That was a Nordstrom Anniversary sale pick a few years ago. It comes out for the Christmas Holidays and get put away after Valentines Day. Try Portland Leather for a brownish colored purse; they ship to Canada. My take on trousers is a dressy pant with a waistband, zipper and bar or button closure, and front pleats. They lay nicely when constructed in a crepe fabric. Have a wonderful week! Carol
Flare-leg jeans are a better option for me than the wide-leg shape. The flares still give a modern silhouette without all the bulk the whole way down my leg. That said, they are both really cute for those who can wear both. Thanks for the great content.
Have you ever tried getting a purse from a yard sale. Probably 80 percent of mine are from a yard sale and only about $2.00 maybe $3.00 sometimes. Thanks for sharing your trends suggestions. I just got a Joan Rivers leopard blazer at a tard sale for 3 bucks. And it is in great shape. I just subscribed to your channel.
I guess I’m stuck in the 90’s. 😅 I’m 52 and just plain refuse to dress like my mother or like I’m retiring to FL. I will keep my straight cargo pants, t-shorts, and Adidas.
Hi Cathy great trends! I have a few things I picked up for fall that are in line with your trends! I love that what I picked is on your trend list! I found a great cotton knit cable vest (kind of vertical lines 😊) that can be worn with or without a shirt. It is lands end. I found a plaid light flannel shirt with burgundy tan lines on Amazon that will look great with it! And a nice white floral button shirt with Oran’s, tan colors for an other casual outfit fit. I also saw the red trend, and love burgundy! I have a burgundy crossbody from coach from a few years ago (present to myself for retiring). And found a great soft longer bomber jacket in burgundy from H&M! I am just waiting for the weather to get cold enough to wear it! Have a great fall everyone!
In Britain we call pants trousers. They are exactly the same thing. The type of trouser is determined by the descriptor wide leg trouser etc. Hope this helps
I am in Michigan, when someone says trouser I think of pleated trousers whether it's a single pleat or a double pleat, with a wider waistband and belt loops, a good example is the aritzia effortless pants. Any other dress pants with a flat front I just call a flat front pant.
Trousers are pants, but not all pants are trousers. I believe that a trouser has a more formal or men's wear look, usually with a wider pant leg. Ladies pants today usually have a comfort or stretch panel built in, a sewn on separate waistband with buttons and hooks is no longer common. However, the use of stretch fabrics shortens the life span of pants as the elastic fibers become damaged from wearing and washing the garment.
Hi Cathy, thanks for the video, I enjoyed watching it. I don't wear vests or blazers because I don't like the way they look on me. I am short petite, and apple shape, a lot of styles are not for me. Have a great week 😊
I am apple shaped with thin legs and hips. Plus sizes in pants tend to have huge legs, saddle hips and extra material around the crotch already so making the legs even wider for those like me will definitely look frumpy. If they did slimmer pant legs with no built-in saddle bags and a flare at the bottom, that will be OK.
Hi Cathy! I have been following your channel for awhile and love your content. I appreciate your style tips for us apple bodies and weight loss encouragement. I bought the Tory Burch Ella medium size tote in red in the early summer and love it. I think the Ella is offered in a few different sizes. In one of your videos, you asked about other retailers you could try. I don't know if this is available to you in Canada, but I would love to see you try on some of the styles from Anthropologie. Good luck with your channel.. I'll be watching! Take care of yourself. I was a hospice nurse and know how difficult it can be to care for a terminally ill loved one. ❤
Hi Wendy, I just looked up your TB tote, very nice! I have been keeping an eye on Anthropologie but so far nothing jumps out at me. Looking forward to their fall clothes. Thank you for kind wishes. 💖
This is my first time watching your channel and I thoroughly enjoyed it. You are so personal and engaging! I thought I would share a couple of brands of crossbody bags that I like. Stone Mountain has some nice reasonably good priced ones. I also like the Islee brand that carries designer looking like (to me) bags. I have a retro looking leather one that is around 9 x 12 inches with multi pockets that I love (more expensive than Stone Mountain). There are other sleek looking Islee crossbody bags that look even more expensive than they sell for. Best wishes with your channel. New subscriber here.
Cathy, I suspect the brown shade you are looking for is called “cognac” in leather goods. I also live in Ontario and always understood trouser to mean a tailored pant, cuffed or not, with a fly front and buttoned inset waistband, think of a men’s suit pant, that is a trouser. However I refer to pants as pants also!
I love brown shoes and bags because I wear so much black. I think the brown warms the black and gives a little interest to my looks. I love the look of a slingback but the strap always slides down. Does anyone else have this issue? I even bought sticky straps off Amazon to hold the strap in place, but they were a fail.
I usually think of a trouser as those that Katherine Hepburn wore - high waisted, wider legs, dressier. I recently bought a pair of wide leg pants, and as flattering as they were, they were so high waisted (and they were petites) they were uncomfortable when sitting as they came up to my bra. I think the wider pants need a narrower top to balance them, and I think a tucked in top works best, but no way could I do that with such a high waist. Love the vest look - with jeans, white shirt hanging below the vest. I like that leather jacket from Talbots - I have one very similar from JJill which I've had for years, and it always looks good. Love sling backs - as my heels are very narrow, and they fit so well. Fall clothing is the best - so many great colors and styles. To me, leopard print is a classic, and always looks good, as long as it's not overdone. I have a camel cashmere sweater and I always wear it with an animal print scarf, and I also have a great leopard belt. I just don't like when you see someone wearing head to toe animal print. The only thing I'm not excited about is the color red - not a good one for me, although a shoe or bag might be ok!
My daughter lives in the UK and her friends laugh at me because when I talk of pants they are thinking underpants. They call pants trousers and jeans. I also had a problem with them telling me I needed a jumper, they'd mean a sweater! Thanks so much for your videos.
I'm in Europe. Trousers are for men. We say jeans if they are jeans and just pants. Now that's Ireland and the UK. Cannot speak for the rest😂. Great video ❤
Here in Oz we are a mix of British and US🤷♀️ We say pants and trousers. It depends on the context. But we also call underwear pants. We know what you mean though. Love your picks!
I love stripes but have been afraid to wear them, unless they are subtle. Maybe I'll step out of my comfort zone and wear some navy and white stripes! Great video! I think trousers are confusing, too. As a petite, I avoid them. Too much fabric in the front.
Hi, when I wear wide leg or flare pants I go with a pointy toe shoe, that helps to extend the leg. Some nice booties or flats would work. I also would match the shoe colour to the pants or wear a skin toned shoe. Hope that helps. 😊
Hello! I love your videos! You are so positive! Can you provide a link for the plaid sneakers with a link? I am not seeing in the more section. Thanks so much!! Take care 💕
I love leopard print and remember years ago I wore a leopard print skirt with a red blouse and got lots of compliments on it. And vests, I have always loved them too! Have you tried Quince for purses? I have a couple of their bags and the leather is very good quality plus the prices can't be beat.
I love the trends because I have quite a lot of pieces that will work for these looks. I especially like a nice brown leather shoe and belt with jeans as it dresses them up. When I wear sneakers with jeans it’s much more casual. Two different looks, each of which works depending on where I’m going. I grew up in the UK and trousers meant dress pants, whereas all other names were self explanatory (jeans, chinos, sweat pants, leggings). Like you, I prefer a smaller plaid or checked pattern and I love a horizontal stripe when the colour/width of stripe is just right, so I often wait til I can try it on in store. I’m loving the summer weather but also looking forward to sweater weather 😂
I love all the trends besides one: leopard print. It's so wannabe sexy, housecat going wild...In my opinion it never can be classy, even in small doses it always looks cheap. No such thing as "subtle animal prints" - for me they are always gaudy and tacky.
No red for me. Check and animal prints with discretion. I love faux leather jackets. Must get some wide leg jeans. I am 83 but still like to dress attractively with a modern touch😊😊😊😊
I like all of the trends. Last season I did declutter my animal print as it was supposed to be out; now it's back in. Already starting my collection of wide leg pants, animal print and casual tops as I work from home mostly. Great video keep them coming! It is so sad that walmart canada is not the same as the US; we would have such good clothing items to choose from.
Trousers I consider dress pants. I wore vests in the late 80s and liked them. Wider leg jeans work for me as I have such big knees. Skirts for me are below knee because of my knees. Red if a blue red, not orangey. Depends on the brown shade. Overall I don't buy much in the fall due to colors available.
Cathy, you give us good advice! I am apple shaped, plus size, 5'3 tall. I have thought that jeggings might make me look taller, but in fact jeans which are fitted around the thigh and flare out slightly elongate my short legs. I have been very selfconscious about my round tummy, but with a top which has the right length and fit I am not too bothered. When my legs look good people don't look at the tummy. However, I am annoyed with all these A-line tops for plus sized women. They look like maternity wear on me. 😂
I am sick & tired of being put under a microscope whenever I go out. I basically dress for myself & wear what looks good on me. Classics work best for me. People seem to notice whatever I wear. I am having a complex. Since I just turned 80 this should not bother me anymore.
I’m American and lived in England for 15 years. What we call ‘pants’ the British mean underwear! As in briefs or ‘knickers.’ They always refer to what we call slacks or pants as ‘trousers’! 🙋♀️🥰‼️
I went to Catholic school and wore green plaid uniforms. I loved my uniform (weird, right) but don't have much plaid in my wardrobe as an adult. Must be subconscious. I love red and leopard print but don't go places where I could show it off. Once again, I find that purses and scarves are where I can be fashion forward.
I went to a Catholic school too and a uniform was mandatory including a blazer which I loved. It was smart and everyone was dressed the same so no one felt left out.
Vermonter here - I used to think of "pants" and "trousers" being men's wear. Jeans are synonymous with dungarees, always made from denim. Women wear slacks. I think of slacks as being tailored, so I have adopted "pants" to refer to other than jeans and not quite slacks. Oh, my word, nothing we wear should be this confusing! I have several pairs of whatever covers my legs to my waist and is not a skirt or dress! Whatever we call 'em, it is likely regional in origin.
I love leopard print. I have a brown leopard print handbag on my wishlist, which will cover two trends. The pants vs trousers question really comes down to each English speaking country having expressions specific to them. If you decide to only talk about trousers from now on, we will still understand what you mean. 😅 Thanks for the update, it's nice that all these trends are very wearable. ❤
You're right Cathy, here in England we say trousers and jeans. Pants are underwear. We don't say vest as that is what we wear under our tops as an extra layer to keep us warm. What you call a button up vest, we call a waistcoat and without buttons is either a sleeveless jumper or tank top.
Ugh the 70’s are back didn’t like vests then except the crocheted ones didn’t like the 70 styles but , they are here to stay for a while I’m on the fence of wide leg jeans yet Bagalini bags they gave RFID wallets with some slash proof straps
I love wide leg jeans. I’m also 5’4”. And some of the ones I’ve bought are way too long. I’m just going to cut them off and leave them raw. I can’t wait for cooler weather he4e. It won’t be here for at least two or three months. But I’ve waited this long. So I can wait a little longer. My daughter and her family, except for one granddaughter moved back to Ohio from Georgia. And my daughter hates the cold like me and her dad. I think trousers are t hs same as pants.
As purses go I am a huge fan of Patricia Nash purses. Not sure if you have T.J. Maxx stores in CA but in the states they will sometimes have a great deal on the brand otherwise I get them through Dillard's or Macy's. I love the quality and have had some for 20 years and when oiled they look brand new so they do last a LONG time ;)
When I think of trousers I think menswear. Usually tailored maybe belt loops workwear….material could be khaki, or something that is that weight of fabric in any color. To me they have to have some sort of waistband. I also believe that the fabric is what makes it a trouser.
Hi thanks for sharing this video it was very interesting and very helpful I really enjoyed watching you video it hard to believe that we are looking at fall clothes uk Jean called jeans and pants are called trousers in uk❤xx

Cathy you are glowing and i love your hair cut and color, it looks wispy light and shiny. It adds to your glow, you are looking good. 👍
Wilma Flintstone was a fashion icon and trend setter in her leopard print dress! The look endures!
😄
😂😂😂
I love red and glad to see it getting a moment again.
Red goes real nice with leopard print….could wear 2 trends in 1🤩
Cathy, as you continue to lose more weight it is so wonderful to see you get excited about different styles, colors, ideas. Love what your doing.
Thank you so much! 😊
The wide-leg jeans looked awesome.🥰😍😘
I liked all the fall looks you showed in the video. And yes I think they would be flattering.
I'm with you Karen, I will wear my skinny jeans because I like them. 😊
I love all of the Jean shapes. I'm very into the wide leg, but enjoy a straight or a skinny just depending on the day. I really want to try the vest look ,maybe get one or two!
@@StyleWithCathyme too!
I’m with you on the leopard animal print … not a fan.
I have one leopard long sleeve top from Chicos. I love it but I agree with you one item is enough for me. BTW I love the highlights in your hair, very flattering. Thanks for all you do for our underserved community.
I like leather purses. I enjoy your channel
Thank you so much!
Love your haircut!
I’m originally from England. There we call pants trousers but we also called them pants. Also we call a purse a handbag. A purse in England is a very small and is used for change.
I must have those plaid sneakers❤❤❤❤!!
Love them all!
I still love loafers.
Love the Talbots cheetah sling backs!
I’m liking Sak purses now. I have painful shoulders and the Sak shoulder straps are more comfortable for me.
My mom from Canada always said slacks which I also say. Trousers were for men.
Hi Cathy. Wonderful content. You have great taste in fashion and I enjoy all of your videos. Thank you for opening our minds to new trends in fashion. ❤
Thanks so much Gina! I hope that you are having a speedy recovery! 💖
I love Fossil leather purses and I have several in a brown tone.
I love leopard print! I saved a top and pumps. I’m getting more! I love a lot of the fall trends. I’m not a play person, but it’s not as big in FL, where I live, either. I’m 5’ 2” and and apple shape too. Keep the videos coming!
Love leopard print. And I love the red idea
I love wearing vests!!!
Cathy you look great . Keep it up. I started the game Junes Journey. I love mystery’s. I also watched Downton Abbey for about 4 years from stat to finish. I love that series.
Nailed it!
I love Patricia Nash purses. I get compliments on mine all the time, and it's 7 or 8 years old. They are pretty and hold up really well.
@@annesmith6582 Wow! Harsh! Maybe some are, but mine is not! It is a camel color leather crossbody, and most of the people commenting on mine are very young.
New subscriber here and enjoying ALL your lovely suggestions for us older ladies with bodies that have some natural padding 😂
Thank you Cathy for encouragement to wear bold colors and patterns. If it is correctly sized we can all look fashionable and be confident in how we look.
I like, however, that you make it clear that we need not be slaves to fashion either- that our “best look”is when we love ourselves as we are, and feel comfortable and confident in whatever we’re wearing. Thank you!
Thank you!
I have those exact leopard print shoe you showed first and i love them
I love vests!
I always think of slouchy dress pants with pleats as trousers.
I’m here for all the trends. I only wear leopard print in accessories. Shoes, bags, scarves, but I purchased a blazer that has cuffed leopard print and it really pops!
Love that!
Thank you Cathy😊
I bought red driving moccasins that I wear all the time. I get compliments on them all the time and they are extremely comfortable.
Australia here. Most people when referring to Trousers would mean dress pants, Slacks or men’s trousers. Trousers is a more masculine term here. Jeans are just Jeans.
Order the red dress!
I enjoyed the video. Thanks so much ❤️. I do agree with the trends. I like Talbot. Enjoy your day 💗
Thanks for watching!
Yes we wear trousers in the UK Cathy.
Kathy, well timed and helpful. I am planning to use red as my accent color. My favorite daily purse brand is Bagalini. ❤
Carol
Thank you Carol! Have a great week! 💖
Flare-leg jeans are a better option for me than the wide-leg shape. The flares still give a modern silhouette without all the bulk the whole way down my leg. That said, they are both really cute for those who can wear both. Thanks for the great content.
Girl, I'm with you on the leopard print! I have a leopard print blouse & I'm looking for a nice leopard print shoe. 🐆
Thank you for subscribing! 🥰
Thanks!
Thank you! 🥰
I guess I’m stuck in the 90’s. 😅 I’m 52 and just plain refuse to dress like my mother or like I’m retiring to FL. I will keep my straight cargo pants, t-shorts, and Adidas.
I’m loving the Fossil Zoey large crossbody in cognac. I don’t have it but it’s on my wishlist….thought you might like it too!
I’m very careful just above the knee look as chubby knees can spoil an elegant look.
It does, thank you for sharing! 😊
Thanks for watching!
Really enjoy your videos! Just found you, subscribed. Looking forward to catching up on your earlier stuff - and the future stuff. Hi from BC!
Awesome, thank you!
Pants in the UK refers to undies.
Welcome and thank you for subscribing! 🥰
Thank you! 😊
I am happy to hear you are from Canada! What province are you located in?
Great tips in this video!
I live in Ontario, what about you?

I love brown shoes and bags because I wear so much black. I think the brown warms the black and gives a little interest to my looks. I love the look of a slingback but the strap always slides down. Does anyone else have this issue? I even bought sticky straps off Amazon to hold the strap in place, but they were a fail.
Maybe you could try like a Mary Jane with a strap also in the front? Ps I have a similar problem.
Thanks for sharing!!
Wouldn’t it be nice to have leopard sling back kitten heels.
Google leopard sling back kitten heels, there are tons of them at all price points on the internet!
I love stripes but have been afraid to wear them, unless they are subtle. Maybe I'll step out of my comfort zone and wear some navy and white stripes! Great video! I think trousers are confusing, too. As a petite, I avoid them. Too much fabric in the front.
Thanks Mary!
Hi Cathy, What kinds of footwear will you be pairing with the wide or flare style pants this winter? Looking for a practical, stylish option. Thanks!
Hi, when I wear wide leg or flare pants I go with a pointy toe shoe, that helps to extend the leg. Some nice booties or flats would work. I also would match the shoe colour to the pants or wear a skin toned shoe. Hope that helps. 😊
I like leather good, especially purses with black and brown combined. So chic. Very difficult to find
In the Chicago area trousers are menswear but not exclusive to men. Typically loose leg, high waist and tailored.
That’s my definition too!
Hello! I love your videos! You are so positive! Can you provide a link for the plaid sneakers with a link? I am not seeing in the more section. Thanks so much!! Take care 💕
Never mind my daughter walked in and showed me the pinned comment things. Unfortunately they’re sold out at Nordy’s
Yes, I saw that and was looking for an alternative one. If I find one I will let you know.

I love leopard print and remember years ago I wore a leopard print skirt with a red blouse and got lots of compliments on it. And vests, I have always loved them too! Have you tried Quince for purses? I have a couple of their bags and the leather is very good quality plus the prices can't be beat.
Thanks for sharing!!
Loved this video. Love the leopard shoes. Rothy's has a cute pair, however I can never get the right fight in that brand. Blessings to you from Texas.
Thanks for watching! 💖
It's looking and feeling like fall here today. I'm so glad that the humid weather has past. 😊
Vivaia do sling back shoes and I think they do it with a kitten heal too
I like all of the trends.
Thanks Donna!
There is a great brown purse by Coach called Empire. Comes in a larger size and a smaller size. Brown, black and in the smaller size, tan.
Yes, it's a challenge to find flattering tops with an apple belly. Thanks for watching!
I am right there with you ladies. 😕
I have large bust, and the a line tunics look like maternity wear on me too!
I am sick & tired of being put under a microscope whenever I go out.
I basically dress for myself & wear what looks good on me. Classics work best for me.
People seem to notice whatever I wear.
I am having a complex. Since I just turned 80 this should not bother me anymore.
Can't go wrong with classics.
I am from the U.K. and we wear trousers and jeans. To us pants are underwear for both men (underpants) and women (knickers).
Thanks for watching! Yes, super nice when we can actually wear the trends. 😄
You're right Cathy, here in England we say trousers and jeans. Pants are underwear.
We don't say vest as that is what we wear under our tops as an extra layer to keep us warm. What you call a button up vest, we call a waistcoat and without buttons is either a sleeveless jumper or tank top.
Thanks for the information. 😊
In Aus, we call dressy pants, just pants. Trousers are more a male thing
In the UK, yes, it’s trousers. I understand “pants” means underwear!
In the US, we refer to undies as underpants or panties.
As purses go I am a huge fan of Patricia Nash purses. Not sure if you have T.J. Maxx stores in CA but in the states they will sometimes have a great deal on the brand otherwise I get them through Dillard's or Macy's. I love the quality and have had some for 20 years and when oiled they look brand new so they do last a LONG time ;)
I love her bags!
The only way I would wear a vest is over a white button-down shirt. NO showing upper arms for me!
My thoughts is trousers are more structured. With button and zipper. Pleats in the front. As dress pants i have an elestic waist
I know, where did summer go? Time seems to fly anymore, except winter...it drags on and on! 😄
In the US pants is a general term for all pants like tops. Trousers are more referenced to a dressser pant.
