CVS closing dozens of pharmacies inside Target stores by end of April

  • CVS is still working on closing hundreds of stores, including some pharmacies inside Target stores, blaming the changes on waning foot traffic, rising competition and workforce shortages, according to Bailey Schulz, a consumer news reporter for USA Today, who joined CBS News with her look at CVS' plan.

    After years of horrible service from CVS where insurance companies could force you to go, not caring that you would sit in their drive-thru window for 20 minutes or more, or that they couldn't even get your prescriptions reordered knowing that you are mandated to go to them to get them so you had to wait a week for them to find it somewhere else, we moved over to a local pharmacy as soon as the law was passed thank you that said insurance companies could not mandate where you bought your prescriptions . We now have zero issues when picking up prescriptions with a polite, efficient staff that thinks on their feet when they run into an issue even before you've got there LOL

    CVS didn’t really want business, because of their EXTREME and EXCESSIVE price gouging!! The difference between CVS and other stores is outrageous!! I went into CVS to purchase an item, but I knew how much the product was at another store…the difference in price was $8.00…and I walked out!
    How could they expect to stay in business…They have zero appreciation for customers.

      They overprice their prescriptions if you don’t have insurance as well. For example, I take Ambien which is a generic. I typically would pay between $6 and $12 at virtually any pharmacy. CVS would charge almost $70 for the same damn thing. And it was pretty much the same with any other medicine I took as well. I will never go to a CVS on principle alone.

      You can price match Amazon, Walgreens, and Target, and on most products their prices are similar! CVS is a bully…they will mark up their prices for the heck of it…served up with a side of “take it or leave it!” Such goofiness…insanity at its best! Good riddens CVS…go back to school and learn some business etiquette, basics, skills, and RESPECT for the CUSTOMER!!

    I’m honestly SHOCKED at the Target closings considering how much CVS benefited from the free labor. The reason independent CVS locations have bad customer service is because they open way too many of them, and can run one on a skeleton crew. You have one licensed pharmacist, and one regular pharmacy clerk that has to run back and forth from drive through to store counter, and maybe if you’re lucky, there may be a third person. On the actual sales floor however, you have one single person running everything else. It’s ridiculous. I’d gladly drive an extra mile if it meant more staff.
    Now, for the ones inside Target… …one licensed pharmacist, and one regular clerk. Did you know that Target has a one plus one rule? That means one guest in line waiting, and one guest checking out. If you have a third guest, they’re supposed to request backup. Well, they freaking gave the CVS one of these call buttons! So there will be times a Target employee will hop on with zero training. All they do is take your info for refills, put it in the queue to get filled, and check out anyone that has one ready. CVS isn’t the one paying for the help, Target is!

    • @chriskay1449
      @chriskay1449 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The labor isn't free. YOu have shown you don't know how those stores work. The stores inside Target are fully owned and operated by CVS. That labor is in no way free. CVS pays for the pharmacists and workers inside each of them.

    • @UmmYeahOk
      @UmmYeahOk 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@chriskay1449 I worked for Target for four years. No one wanted to answer the CVS calls for backup for that reason. We weren’t trained, and we weren’t CVS employees. They gave Starbucks one of these buttons too, they were just smart enough not to use them, because yeah, what on earth are untrained Target employees supposed to do? Anyway, I only worked the CVS counter when an actual Target team lead would tell me to. So one Target employee ordering another Target employee to work for CVS. I clocked in as either a Target cashier or Target sales floor. I don’t even know the punch clock code for a CVS or Starbucks employee. Target was paying ME to work for CVS. Personal real life experience.
      CVS may lease out the store from Target and hire their own CVS employees, but as far as being short staffed on purpose, if they needed backup, they got someone from Target to jump on.

    • @UmmYeahOk
      @UmmYeahOk 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure where my reply went, but for anyone else reading, the short version: I worked at Target for FOUR YEARS. CVS may have their own staff, but just like with stand alones, they don’t schedule enough. When CVS calls for backup, everyone carrying a Target walkie hears the call. None of us will jump on because just like with Starbucks, none of us were trained. None of us are clocked in as those companies employees. HOWEVER, if your target team lead TELLS you to jump on for CVS, you do it. So I personally worked the CVS counter several times checking out guests and setting up the refill requests. Me. A Target employee.

    • @UmmYeahOk
      @UmmYeahOk 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@dman1908honestly I think CVS only needs one licensed pharmacist on staff during opening hours. So I think that’s the person with the lab coat, with the regular CVS employees wearing their shirt. So Target employees do see different screens they aren’t used to, which could send many in a panic, especially if they don’t know where the refill slips are, or how they are stored once filled, but they aren’t calling up doctor’s offices or insurance companies. They’re just helping the line move since it should be quick and easy “in theory,” but it’s still a Target employee working temporarily for CVS, and that’s not ok.

Go back to the old days when your doctor could call in an RX and it would be ready by the time you left the office. Go back to being like a hospital gift shop. Get well cards, a box of chocolates, fresh-cut flowers, etc. Carry only medication RX and OTCs. Get employees who don't hate their life or their career choices to wait on customers. In this day and age. I fail to understand why it takes so freaking long to fill a prescription. Why they don't have ample machines that keep a high majority of medications in tubes and what not and just make a selection and give a count to the machine on how much medications to distribute to each patient and it releases that amount. The medications is bagged up and a label is printed and attached and the medication is ready to go. I bet we could learn so much from other countries that have this system so much quicker and easier for everyone involved.

      Sure thing. Let's create more robots to take over and lets just fire the whole crew because who needs a job when a robot can do your job for you right? It's not like these people have families to take care of or bills to pay. I would much rather wait in a long line and be assisted by a human being who can interact with me and have a normal conversation with me as opposed to a robot who just spits out a prescription and sends you on your way. As if the invention of self checkout wasn't enough, lets add the same concept to a pharmacy!

      I shop there all the time. Especially if I am waiting on the pharmacy to fill my prescription, I can grab a few grocery items I may need for the house while I wait and by the time I am done they are usually done filling my script.

      @@alk3078 It was good for the rich- not so much for everyone else. Rich got over 90% of tax cuts that was advertised for being for middle class. Then when debt went up, they talked about cutting back SS and Medicare.

      @@Mlogan11 You got a payroll tax cut. Your standard deduction doubled. If you have kids , your child tax credit doubled. What did old Joe do for you? Oh yeah, he gave us nine percent inflation and five dollar gas.
