Hey Alexis! First of all your hair turned out soooo pretty and I can't wait to try this (although I admit, I'm really worried about what I've heard about the maintenance to try and keep red IN your hair, YET how impossible it is to get it out!) Anyway, I hope you can answer my QUESTION: WHERE, WHERE, WHERE did you get the amazing cabinets behind you? I cannot tell you HOW LONG I've been looking for something EXACTLY like them....sadly, to no avail so hopefully you can let me know and, hopefully, they're still available to buy from where you got them! My hairs been red for 10+ years now and I spent so long washing my hair in cold water cause that’s what I heard constantly about maintaining color. But I realized I didn’t feel like my hair was getting as clean though and I felt like I had more product build up by the next time I would wash. Then I did some research and figured out it’s actually not so good to wash your hair with cold water all the time. LUKEWARM IS KEY. I’m telling you, if you’re using high quality shampoo and conditioner, your color will last just as long even with lukewarm water. When the waters cold it doesn’t allow the cuticle of your hair to open up and doesn’t allow your shampoo and conditioner to do their job properly. I’ve noticed such a positive difference since I stopped washing my hair with freezing cold water. 🤗☺️
Also another tip for everyone out there. To know your heat protector is actually working, spray some on a part of your arm , let the product dry for a few seconds, hold your blow dryer a foot or two from your arm, and point it at the spot with the product. If you can feel that spot getting warm/hot, you need a different heat protectant. You’ll know it’s actually protecting your hair if that spot you sprayed feels cooler than the part of your arm without the product. :)

@@lexvirgilio Good to know! This is my first time going red (5months now) and I felt like I noticed the cold vs lukewarm water and my hair feeling dirty faster.
What shampoos / conditioners do you use and how often do you wash your hair? I struggle finding a balance since I like to run and feel like I need to shower everyday.
@@desdemonathomas511 I know it’s been a minute 😂 my family doesn’t even remember what I look like with my natural hair color lol. But most of the year I dye my hair every 7ish weeks ! In the summer time it’s more like every 5-6 weeks. I work in a warehouse and sweat my ass off once it gets hot out so i definitely wash my hair more often then lol ☺️
@@just_callme_t I use the redken color magnetics shampoo, TOTALLY recommend. my hair color bleeds significantly less like barely at all when I use that shampoo compared to any other one I’ve used. The conditioner is just as great. right now I’m using the Joico colorful conditioner and I’m really liking it so far. I’ve never been someone who can go a full week without washing my hair. I wash mine every other day - 2 days. Max 3 days .
I also rarely, I’m talking like a handful of times a year, put any kind of heat on my hair. Heat fades color much faster so if you do use heat, always use a protectant, and try to use as low of a heat as you can. Using anything above 350 degrees is gonna take a lot of vibrancy out of your color. (That goes for any color not just red). Just like heat tools, the sun is very damaging to your hair/hair color.So spray your hair with a heat protectant when you’re out in the sun , or try to wear a hat.

You did such an amazing job! The color looks so great on you! If you want to keep your hair strong and healthy I would recommend using a semi permanent color to refresh your ends (no developer) and use the color with developer on your roots where the color needs to lift, or you could even use the bleach to lift your roots to match the ends (keep an eye on them tho cause they lift faster) and use a semi permanent color all over. You didn't do anything wrong, but your hair will thank if you dont use 20 volume on the mids to ends every time
I'm glad it turned out so nice! As a Licensed Cosmetologist you should definitely only do your new growth and apply a color depositor only on the ends. Iroiro is good, abd manic panic has changed thier formulas and they're colors are super long lasting. Putting the developers over and over on your ends will cause the cuticle to pop open a d become damaged. That permanent color lifts and deposits. So if you're doing your ends with the roots it's lifting them further and further

Question for you! If I’ve had my hair professionally lightened can I just purchase the Ion color and just deposit that on the bleached parts of my hair? I’ve been doing at home toners and none are the giving me the color I want.
@@stephanieguzman5032 hello! It depends on how high lifted you hair is. If your hair is darker blonde on the brassy side it'll only hold reds and oranges now I your hair is platinum you can add just about any color. And the ion colors should work.

Washing your hair in colder water really does help! You dont have to use freezing cold water either tho but hot water opens up the cuticles in the hair more and colder water helps to close them so your hair will actually be healthier too

Babe I learned in cosmology school that prenatal vitamins are the best thing you can take. Pregnant or not. Helps with skin hair literally everything. Works better than hair skin and nail vitamins❤️
