    I like your channel because my Grandfather was a in German called Stellmacher.
    He build woodwheels and Waggons coaches and he had a sawmill in German called Gatter.
    One blade saw vertikal.
    It is still there and his Workshop too
    As i was a kid i joint my Grandfather and my father when they worked with the sawmill and in Front of our house were stacked planks as high that you canot look outside the Front Windows..
    My Grandfather and my father are long gone but the memorries came back when i see you working
    Take care yours

    Good stuff Nathan, it is interesting to note that the act of sawing one's own lumber is a good lesson for all of us. The ability to find great value in bug eaten and microbe infested product and value it for the defects they cause rather than looking at the product as spoiled. Great video thumbs up.

    Hi from Grand Rapids MI. Watch your channel regularly and enjoy your presentations, (straight-forward and highly understandable from a strictly non saw mill point of view, like myself). Also a subscriber. Would you consider doing a segment on electric back up generators. I've been researching several different makes of portable models for electric backup for my suburban home, a confusing experience to say the least. Without mentioning any manufacturers, (although I am seriously looking at a Champion portable inverter type, 8750 surge watts). I would also definitely look into converting it to Nat Gas. Don't like messing with gasoline and LP needs to be heated in winter to be efficient (or even work). I already use NG for heat so it is the logical choice for us. Do you have electric backup, either a portable or standby with auto transfer switch? I think electric power is headed in direction of less reliability as time goes on. What say you? Mark N from "the cold North".

    Well, that’s the first time I have ever heard anyone equate the ambrosia beetle (technically, a weevil) with the boxelder bug (considered a ‘true bug’). Ambrosia maple has clear evidence of tunneling in the stained areas but I’ve only seen red streaking from trees that the boxelder bug has colonized around, no tunneling. I’ll admit that the term ‘ambrosia beetle’ encompasses a very broadly defined range but I don’t think it applies to the boxelder bug. Note: I am not an entomologist and I don’t play one on TV.

    • @OutoftheWoods0623
      @OutoftheWoods0623  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup...It's a fungus that forms when the tree gets damaged in some way. The ambrosia beetle will bore in and cause the green streaks...and then the fungus will occur, giving you the red. Pretty spectacular. If someone runs into the tree with a tractor, that'll cause the fungus to form as well...along with wind damage or anything else along those lines.
      Learned that my first year in college and have heard it repeated several times. By the way what’s TV? 😂😂
