    I am 2 months into a 12 month Nomad lure only quest.
    So far its been pretty good, have nailed more barra than normal over winter.
    Not going to lie, but at times have wanted to go to some of my tried and tested lures, so this makes it hard.
    I love top water lures for fresh, target barra and toga, and love a good walk the dog action, been finding the chug works better than the maverick. Maybe just haven’t worked the maverick out yet. Loving the madmacs offshore and ya jigs work a treat up here too. Just need to buy more colours…..

    Great range of gear guys but your lures need to drop in price. Your $18 jigs, I get exactly the same for $5 each elsewhere. The rods, braid and leader are all top notch though.

      I’ve used they’re jigs and other “expensive jigs” a lot and they completely out perform the jigs you buy for $5 my dad has got some cheap ones and doesn’t have as much luck as using a brand that’s taken they’re own experience to make their products

      @@John_Williams421 lures are a consumable so I don’t see the point in spending top dollar for that.
      I agree with you when you say the big brands are better, but in my experience, put a lure of any sort in front of a fish and it will eat it if it wants to. Fish doesn’t care what brand it is. Unless they have talked to the fish and interviewed them to ask which one is better, I don’t think it really matters. As long as they flutter when falling and are half decent quality.
      I have outfished my mate on $5 jigs when he was using bait and nomad jigs.
      If someone wants to spend $120 on 5 jigs while I spend the same on 24 jigs.. go for it!

    Bro how to do soft shad spinning on a popping rod

  • @i1bike
    @i1bike 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    i dont get something.
    How strong is that break if you are letting the jig flutter down, and you manage to hook fish with break that is so light, so jig can flutter, i really dont get it. Do you open the break while jig flutters down ?
    My logic was to buy baitrunner feeder reel and do slow pitch with it, cuz it has 2 breaks, front break for hooking up the fish, and rear break for jig flutter.
    I hope that someone can explain me how is slowpitch done.

    • @JacobE-23
      @JacobE-23 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For me, I usually leave my drag a little loose, but keep my thumb on the spool to set the hook. If I need more drag I increase and vise versa. Baitrunner should be fine. But this comments a year old I'm sure you've tried by now lol

      I still didnt get it, zero fish on slow pitch. Fast jigging is simple, i take very slow reel and just jig up, allowing jig to flutter down, cuz slow reel needs time to pick up the slack. I just do not get it, how the slow pitch works. Watched maybe 50 videos by now. How to hook a fish if your bail is open so slow jig can flutter ?????

  • @donaldveasey6835

    I’ve tried tying directly to the assist hooks without using a swivel and it spun my j-braid bad. This is in the Gulf of Mexico.

    • @mikedefee
      @mikedefee 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      And the deeper you fish the more the twist. I always use a swivel to avoid this issue!

    Great video, very informative. Helpful. Question though, what pound fluro leader do you like for PE2-4 setup with say 60-100gm jigs?

    • @NomadTackle
      @NomadTackle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Really depends on what you're chasing - Anywhere from 40-100lb

    • @JacobE-23
      @JacobE-23 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use 100lb, never know whats gonna bite. Had sea robbins, dogfish, spanish macks all go for the same jig within a few minutes. I like the extra thickness for the toothy fish.

    how much flourocarbon length you need

      I usually do about the length or my rod from the real seat to tip. Works good for me.

    Is all easy going until you catch a nice fish and then it looks like a lot of effort to reel it in with that flimsy rod.

    • @NomadTackle
      @NomadTackle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats all part of the challenge in our books - The set up is designed to work the jig to get the bite. Nomad SPJ rods are designed to have plenty of power when the fight is on which is different to traditional SPJ rods.

    • @JacobE-23
      @JacobE-23 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The rods are pretty strong, they just look flimsy. But yea it is a bit of a good fight still versus a stiffer, stronger rod.
