I think you are right. Not sure my reasoning at the time, I think I just got excited at the thought of Memory Lapsing them over and over and having Meddling Mage. First turn Hypnotic Specter definitely hurt me.
@@CloudgoatRanger I think the line is fine IF your opponent can't cast any threats until later. Which we know is not the case here. To be fair, Memory Lapsing your opponent 3x in a row is pretty fun, so there's that.
Well, the three-color manabase sure it fun to root for... Q1: thoughts on keeping your cantrip rather than the angels when he verdicted you in G2? Felt like a flipped angel would just run away with the game.
I'd probably keep the Lightning Angel again given the choice, but it is close. If I untap, any land is great if I have the Lightning Angel, I need a second white source to flip the Exalted (though most of the deck's sources could produce white). If I don't hit a land right away and have to use my turn playing Portent, I am not flipping the Exalted that turn anyway. So if there is land in the next two cards the Lightning Angel seems better than Portent. Plus, I was thinking that he might have a Plow or a Vindicate and I wanted a second threat.
@@CloudgoatRanger That line of reasoning makes sense. Tight playing. I had one other thing I disagreed with (the ordering off portent when you saw mom/fire-ice/fire-ice, but it's more likely I'm wrong ;).
@@drycereal1 I think my thought process was to guarantee that I have a Fire/Ice to kill the Specter and then resolve a Mother of Runes. How would you have ordered it?
@@CloudgoatRanger I would have drawn mother of runes and kept 2 fire/ice on top. It's a more defensive play, but lets you answer another threat or dig deeper. I may be under-valueing mom in the matchup, though.
I love these uploads, thanks for sharing them. There's very little premodern in my neighborhood so it's fun to watch these.
I'd have shuffled that very first Portent to find land.

I was gonna say, shuffle it to find land, or least removal for a Hippie you know is probably coming.

I was wondering why no old mulligan rule?
Premodern is played with all contemporary rules, including the current mulligan
You were at 14 not 13. He was wrong.
