I thought this was supposed to be a speedrun but this is just normal morrowind gameplay.
The hero of a speedrun would be completely terrifying. They fly through wall, instantly kill people with lockpicks, and seem to be able to predict the future. What's really scary is that they'll do *whatever* will accomplish their goals the quickest, murdering people they could easily persuade in the name of expediency. They will throw their allies down mountain. They have godlike power but lack any sense of morality.
Well, the hero does have a terrible personality: 43 at the end speaks by itself
Doesn't it sound very fair lore-wise though? Aren't early Daedric princes and Tribunal Gods did pretty much the same throughout the history?

Hero: Shut up, peasant, I'm breeding chickens, this is very important business. Then I have to finish collecting shiny rocks and cook the perfect meal for that darn noble.
A speedrunner playing an epic RPG:
King: You slaughtered 3 towns, left an entire country to die, stole all the ancient relics from the Elves, lied your way through 3 cities and let the dragon eat my daughter. What do you have to say for yourself!?
Hero: I saved the world, didn't I? And I did it before lunch.
This guy beats the game in 28:59 whilst I'd be still in the character select screen trying to justify not playing a dark elf for the 100th time

I've seen this game run at least 10 times by now and even with mostly understanding how the tricks work, seeing it with the stat menu makes it so much clearer what's happening when. That was an amazing idea and probably helped a ton of new people not get lost.
Starting the main quest with Keening and Sunder already in your possession is hilarious to me
Elder Scrolls speedruns are easily some of the best. While other games have you styling on bosses and sprinting like mad with the occasional sequence break, Elder Scrolls is just constant game abuse and I love it.
It's the story of a Redguard that went so fast he *ASCENDED* thru time and space.
CHIM and dragonbreaks, so this speedrun is lore-friendly.
He still has the best Redguard voice, too.

I absolutely love the fact that Bethesda games are held together with duct tape. During normal play, you might experience a bug or two, but usually nothing worse than a game crash. If you want to, though, you can absolutely abuse the hell out of these games. I think it's charming, and allows for some really interesting (if unintended) gameplay. Also, the modding scene is second to none (except maybe minecraft), because of how open the game engine is.
I love how as GDQ has gone on, more and more quotes pop up that are hilarious without context.
Morrowind has speedrunning? My horizons are broadened again by the brave recordrunners who elevate video gaming to sport.
Yeah, Morrowind speedruns have been around for like 15 years. I remember reading about how to beat it in just a few minutes waaay back.
You can beat the game in literally 5 mins.

It was 5am. Everyone was sleeping.
But there was always at least 80,000 people watching on Twitch.
Kassandra M it was run at 5 AM. Its sad but unavoidable in a 24 hour marathon that there are periods with little audience. Luckily even at its lowest the stream had at least 90k viewers.
Gotta give this game credit, any game made today abused this hard would crash immediately and repeatedly

good commentary. i miss systems and design like this in games, i think they could be so much more if they weren't dumbed down (not the same thing as accessible) by shareholders and publishers

It does look better.
considering how much stuff is in this game, and how old it is it looks stunning... and if you have the skill for it you can make it look even better with mods (sadly i lack those skills)

i recall an old 7 minute speed run of this game. was that TAS? i dont recall it being marked as such, unless it WAS and i just didnt know what TAS was yet.
That was an any% run. This is all mainline quests.
It may have been an any % run. This was an 'all main quests' run, so there's lots more to do.
This here is a speedrun in the category all main quests completed, while faster speedruns are just killing the end boss.
Several years ago i saw a speedrun of morrowind in only 7min. Was it a TAS or something got patched since ?

If you do the stat glitch he did near the start, you can just get keening and sunder (with Lockpick if you want) and just kill dagoth ur and beat the game right after making your character.
