    Fantastic! My parents bought a brand new Miele S230i around mid 80's. They bought it because it has the best filtration at the time and I had asthma. It was white and had the same turbo brush. That was huge thing for me. I was around 5 years old then. Despite the name difference this is pretty much the same vacuum with different color. What a nostalgia video for me!

      I managed to win the brand new in the box model too, but that video won’t be on my channel for a while though there is a short video of it on Instagram.

    Wonderful condition!, the hose clip is indeed for keeping the hose hooked up and off the ground, also i would like to thank you for the review on the Sebo X4 Pet i picked one up today brand new for £250, tried it today and its incredible (anything would be better than the Hoover i have at the moment truly awful machines) i also have a 14yr old Henry (car vacuum all its life still on original motor and brushes), 8yr old Hetty which i use for the hard floors downstairs in my home and a 10yr old George machine (used to wet vac car mats and carpets)

    Very nice vintage Miele there, Roger. Those bags are HUGE compared to the latest Miele C3 canisters. It's a shame they never thought to put the Super Air Clean filter on the exhaust, but very inventive to have two filters before the motor. As for that hook on the hose, my guess would be to allow the user to disconnect it & store on a hook when storing the cleaner, same idea as storing a central vac hose on a hose hanger. Congrats on a great find in absolutely superb condition! :-)

    I just bought my first Miele canister (model name Pure Suction and I'm saving for the turbonozzle and SUB20 elongated and articulated dusting brush. Still and all this S124 is still the most iconic Miele in my mind's eye.

    Nice vacuum cleaner.
    I had the s231 "europa", almost the same but in navyblue and rotating power control and without turbo brush.
    It had also the little ring on the hose and I think it's to put the électrobrush cord.

    It looks like you could hang the hose on a hook while it is attached to the vac

    The clip (ring on the hose) is for hanging up the hose in a broom cupboard, if you put the Miele into this broom cupboard. That is the only funktion of this ring.

    At 22:42 you can see that one of the vanes of the turbine in the turbo brush is broken, which was why it was noisier than it should have been, and you'd have probably felt more vibration through it too when it was running. Its not too serious as its only 1 vane, and the others all looked OK, but it obviously wont spin to its maximum potential due to it being slighty out of balance. I presume the old 80s plastics were not as able to withstand damage to them, as they weren't in the old Kirby fans from that era. Its a nice machine otherwise though.

      Well spotted. I only saw that when I watched the finished video back on my TV. I wouldn’t be surprised if the broken part of the fan is still in the dustbag.

      The turbines in turbonozzles are pretty much interchangeable so repairing it should be quite simple.

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not as simple to find a replacement turbine though.
