      sad apart is they don't even define reality from fiction most of the time making 100% of this interaction worse every single time. learn everything on the net without any moral value and all internet norms which doesn't apply to everyone in terms of culture law and mostly people . and these people take anything they don't know or agree hostile interactions too because they don't know how the world works.

    The Vtuber industry is so huge now, it's a bit hard to say how all-encompassing Rin's experiences may be for the entire industry. By 2023, there are ~50k active Vtubers, ranging all the way from small indies who average below 100 concurrent viewers to major agency talents with record breaking views, and how things work (especially among indies) would be quite different in the West too. That said, in the JP indies/smaller agencies space there definitely seems to be a fair bit of similarities with underground idol/smaller idol agencies.

    I honestly REALLY hate how common death threats are. Whether people have trouble separating fact from fiction, fantasy from reality, and just para-social BS.

    • @felisconcolori
      @felisconcolori 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      People who have not been exposed to the reality of death don't see it as a serious issue. That's at least what I think of US and other western countries. As we continue to change and evolve over time, things change. Societal and cultural norms, production processes, exposure to death and dying in the home (if you have grandparents or even parents living with you or you with them), and of course food preparation. The idea of death is hidden behind polite euphemisms. But that's already too long of a comment.

    • @Greippi10
      @Greippi10 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      It's such an easy thing to say, the ultimate vent for frustrations. But now the recipient legitimately has to consider, that what if there's an actual chance the threat was serious, and the recipient no longer feels safe at home, the one place every person should have to feel safe at? These edgy kids never get that.

    • @mjdxp5688
      @mjdxp5688 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It should be seen as a much more serious crime than it is. If you threaten someone online you should definitely be arrested.

    • @mathis8210
      @mathis8210 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It is not common at all. There are thousands over thousands of people interacting and you only get very few actual threats (No, a "kys" does not count as a threat!).
      The only reason it seems so common to many people now is, that they are exposed to way more interactions than people were before the internet.

      I feel like that's not a really good comparision since agencies varies greatly from one another. He mention 100% merch taken but in Hololive from what we know is about 50% and negotiable depending on how involved the talents themself are in the merch. As for pure earnings, Indie likely would earn more at 1/10 of the subscribers compared to agency Vtubers but if you join an agency, it's for more than just the income, you are getting the support of the agency itself and the connections they have. And a part of the money the agency takes would go back to investing in you through 3D lives, concerts, models, protecting you from trolls, etc... And if you have extra income, you can spend them through the agency for content (e.g Hololive's Marine with her highly animated MVs, and she does that a lot which means her earnings is really high) Most indies would struggle to achieve the level of content an agency can help you do unless you are really popular like Ui-mama.

    I think V-Tubers are fun to watch regardless of if you like Anime or not.
    What makes them fun to watch is the fact that they can behave so liberally due of the ambiguity of their identities being hidden.
    They can act very extreme and over the top without being worried about embarrassing themselves publicly. Kind of like how people would behave around their friends.
    I feel like Sora The Troll is much like a V-Tuber in the way he behaves. The main difference is that he's not embarrassed to be seen or confronted in public.

      On other hand, with some of the vtubers whove ive seen doing some irl stuff ive wondered how much the masks actually help to hide their identity. Obiviously you still dont know their irl names or such but one would think that they could still recognize them, right? Or maybe not. Maybe theyd just blend to the crowd like anyone else.

    This is the first time for me to see the Vtuber situation upclose in an actual interview. I'm not into Vtubers myself and I knew very little about them, no more than just "scratching the surface" and the "annoying high pitched cringe voices" random people (mostly haters) rants about wasn't enough to have a good view of a clear picture. I couldn't imagine the Vtubers having it rough (at least in the Japanese industry), because as Sora have mentioned, from outside they seem to be somewhat wealthy.
    It's not really new to find out that "appearances can be deceiving", but still is can be hugely surprising when you get to look deeper into a subject such as this one. I genuinely feel like I'm ending the day having my perspective getting a little more bigger.
    I just subscribed today after seeing some "dumbest rules in Japanese shop" and some others that are super funny, and I'm glad of this today's finding 😊

    One thing that I always heard from independent Vtuber is that their circle of friends is really small, so they often say something along the lines of "IDK what I would do if I ever quit Vtubing, without connection, I might just come back to my parent house" especially they who start at young age, even big Vtuber, and those in agency wonder about this, they feel like they lose the change of "being normal" and get in a relationship with someone, so if there's another one, I really wanted you to collab with a bunch of indies to do talks like this, between their Vtubing career and their private life, how did they balance it? it's such a sensitive question, so I understand if it's not included anyway~

      Unfortunately that type of behaviour is growing, within the west also, with more people living vicariously online and shutting themselves out from real relationships. It's easier than ever for people to avoid, forget, or even never properly learn basic social etiquette and norms. Parents aren't without blame either.
