@BoneTactical Best, you re read what I wrote. I am a licensed armed guard, and when doing cash transfers, I am required to wear a side arm at all times. That's what I refer to as open carry.
"Not translatable into multiple environments" You'll have to explain that one, I have no idea what you were even trying to say there....with MOLLE I would argue it is the most versatile for hauling different gear for different environments. Backpacking, hiking, camping, overnight motorcycle trips, etc. Putting stuff on the outside isn't practical? What? Where do you put your Nalgene holders then? Where do you attach your wet gear to dry out while hiking then? Where do you attach additional pouches to hold more inventory? Do you even do outdoor activities? My FILBE was $50, is tough as nails, and will last me a lifetime. Good luck with your overpriced hipster pack.
Urban environments, where modern human beings spend 99% of their lives surrounded by other human beings. This is where MOLLE is not translatable. Unless you’re in a uniformed military troop movement, it’s not a good idea. Check out “the real greyman theory” to take your tactics to the next level 👊🏼

What do you mean its not translatable in multiple environments? I legit dont understand and am looking for clarification just so that's clear. In my opinion i think the "it makes you a target" idea is nonsense. Now a days i could where a shirt that says "i am literally carrying a gun bang bang i wanna be a hero look at me." And i guarantee you no one would bat an eye. Molle is on everything and it doesnt get any attention. I know people say that criminals are different but i just dont believe it. Please feel free to prove me wrong by showing me cases where armed civilians were targeted. I dont think you can go wrong by blending in but i am just not convinced these things matter. Just my 2 cents that no one asked for.
I was looking for anyone’s 2 cents so it was definitely asked for. This guy is just a twit who doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He thinks that wearing a MOLLE backpack as a civilian is a big deal, when really no one gives a flying F
You go into a buisness meeting, a kindergarden, a hospital, a bank, ... with a molle backpack, you look wrong in this environment. Like you are lost or an intruder. With a normal backpack like an Eastpak or a buisness backpack - you fit into the environment. It's like having a shotgun over your shoulder. In the woods or and the range - perfect environment. Everywhere else - not fitting into the environment.

Interesting points, I mainly use military packs for my gear since most civilian backpacks wear out quickly. I guess it really depends on the environment, if you live in a city than it’s probably gonna stand out more, I live in a small town in the south of USA and everyone here owns something with camo print 😂. It also depends on the situation, if we’re talking full on apocalypse then I don’t see the point in caring about the color of packs, most people would be too scared and would hide out in their homes at first, they wouldn’t come out until they needed something, after a week everyone who didn’t prepare would be dead only leaving those who did prepare left which would decrease the need for caring about stuff like bag color since everyone you meet would most likely be a prepper/fellow survivalist.

As a military aviator, I agree with your first point to a certain degree. Whenever we go to certain countries we are advised to blend in and not stand out as this would make us more likely to be a target. However, for the average civilian I don’t think this matters much considering I always see people wearing tactical gear back in the states and most people don’t care about it.
It is most definitely situational the dependent, and as a military aviator, they may brief you on some of the basics, but you would greatly benefit from checking out my videos on the real Greyman theory. The details matter, my friend don’t cheat the little things. Have a great week.
I agree with the first point. But that's more situation and environment rather than a negative point. If you want to be inconspicuous, use an inconspicuous backpack. If you want to be tactical and equip/attach multiple things to be prepared for more/dangerous situations, use the tactical MOLLE backpack.
Yes my friend you’re getting there! Give yourself time to process and then integrate this information into your tactical systems to become more effective👊🏼
Thought the exact same thing when I was building my pepper pack. However a military backpack is compatible with body armor. So u can attach it to ur vest or even stick a plate in the pouch inside it on mine. Which will protect my stuff (water, radio etc) from getting holes in them.
Yes! I have several videos on body armor as well. That will really help you with your planning and prepping, as well as to realize that both military backpacks and military body armor are very near the bottom of the list of recommended items for US civilians inside the US

@@BoneTactical people are simple. In a crowd, they see blue, they think tourist or non-threat. Most civilian backpack shoulder straps have MOLLE webbing on them so it wouldn't look very unnatural especially if the cover is secured with shock cord so that it looks like a pack and not a cover. I don't understand why you think someone would suspect a blue or red or orange backpack cover, but I suppose that's why you're the expert

I don’t think you guys understand, he’s right. Also, if your response to this is “don’t tell me what to do! They’ll be scared of me” you absolutely have a mindset that will kill you. What he’s talking about is a very real special ops training subject called “grey man”. Whether it’s an enemy of the state, or the state itself, you want to blend in, it’s your advantage, you want to to move between crowds, cities, urban areas and not be singled out as capable. Any small amount of research would’ve told y’all that you want to blend in, you’re not scaring anyone away, you’re just getting shot first. Sturdy bug out bag is fine, but blatantly rocking that look is a luxury an advantaged combat force has, not you evading or trying to survive.
While I am doing what I can to help others and to make the world a better place it’s also helpful to us that this type of person makes them self a target so that those of us intelligent enough to better ourselves will survive
Problem is, he's saying what he's saying while looking like he's looking. It isn't going to be the backpack that this guy is carrying that gives him away. Conversely, I see pink haired obviously-dudes-trying-to-be-not-dudes here in Portland carrying molle bags all the time. Nobody, anywhere, ever thinks one of those marshmallows in a rainbow colored dress and fishnet leggings over xer cankles is going to be the prepper in the room, molle or no.
In the South a lot more people wear tactical stuff and they open carry and they know how to prevent collateral damage so if anything bad happens they will defend themselves and the people around them 🤬

I dont think you have to worry about profiling. Its not like molle is particularly rare anymore. I mean, you could buy a molle pack at Big 5. We've been fighting with molle for 20 years, its not like any normie could have gone to a surplus store. I mean, having a fancy hiking backpack could make you a target too. It looks like you've got money and expensive equipment for liberating. Probably with better food too. The grey man concept is overstated. Molle is very translatable. Thats how it was designed. Adding extra pouches is nice. Lashing points are nice too. The civilian pack has molle beat in weight and comfort. But it also depends on how much you are willing to spend. You could easily spend a whole bunch of money and buy a nice, new civilian bag from Arcteryx or something. Or, you could buy something a little heavier and a whole lot cheaper with molle at a surplus store.

Bro, just observing me walk for more than 4 seconds would probably give me away faster than that pack would. Not to mention, “tactical gear” is so common place these days, I’d disregard someone wearing this pack before someone who walks with a purpose, stays alert and wearing a “Wenger” backpack. I have a shoulder strap mounted flashlight and knife and the tools I’m using regularly can go on the outside so I don’t have to keep digging in the bag. The bags themselves can be great if the situation calls for it but I do agree that they aren’t an everyday back pack.

agree with point 1 but also it does not matter on how you bag looks when sh!t hits fan as anybody with big bag ends up as walking lootbox for someone else and thats the thing you need to have on mind all time and also if you didnt realised lot of "civil" companies or bag manufacturers adding fake molle webbing on their bags and those are impractical as they just looks as molle but really not have parameters of molle... btw if you dont want to ppl see your molle you can just add bag cover...

I like that you mentioned 'big bag'. Other than somewhere like an airport, anyone carrying a big or full backpack is going to stand out, regardless of the style of pack. Greg, Everything you said about Molle backpacks is absolutely true, [but] I have to admit I am “that guy”. Now with that said let me explain. I have three molle backpacks and they all do a different duty. One goes from my house to the car and stays no further way from me than a chair in my house, the backseat of my Subaru or my hotel room. I have a ton of things on the exterior of my EDC molle bag; e.g. hard sunglass case, IFAK & tourniquet, S-hooks, carabiners, gloves and anything that I may need easily. My range molle bag carries everything that I will need for whatever range trip I am doing. I much prefer a backpack over the standard range bag. It is one less thing I have to carry in my hands. Furthermore, it is larger than most standard range bags. My travel molle bag is one of my carryons when I fly and you would notice it immediately. It is loaded with enough clothes and other essentials so that I can complete my trip even if my check luggage doesn’t make it. My travel molle bag is Camo patterned, but the thing that screams tacticool more than my backpack is my ball cap, with its Velcro patch on the front, Camo pattern and BrimIt clips. One BrimIt clip is Molon Labe and the other is the Sig logo. If you saw me in the airport, you would probably roll your eyes and think to yourself, “What a dork.” Then you would immediately dismiss me and start scanning for someone who your spidey sense indicates may be a threat. What is the old adage, “What is better hidden than what is in plain sight.” Now let’s talk about you. You would set off my spidey sense so quickly it would make my head spin. You could carry the most indescript backpack, wear a button down dress shirt and khaki pants, and you would still scream “operator” to anyone familiar with your business. Now if you wore loafers with no socks, you just “might” make me discount you 😂, but probably not. Thanks for making these videos. I do find them very interesting. While I have never been an operator or in combat, I am very aware of the things that can indicate, “shoot me first.”
I got a molle bag for going to the range but my end of days bag is definitely REI lol. I'm with you because in my case, I am not military and I also thought of how I would be profiled or targeted.
I can tell you with certainty that I would take a modular style pack (or molle) over canvas packs. My main reason is the fact that the molle pack can be broken down and modified to be sleeker or even to have enough equipment for an entire shelter setup. With just one pack, it can be platformed for cqb or long-range trecks. I prefer versatile options. But to each ones own.
Doesn't matter what I wear or carry. Last time I flew international I had a blue and gray hiking bag and the airport security still asked me if I'm military. On point 3, I've found attaching gear to the outside of my pack is very practical.

It's practical. You can modify it for any scenario by adding, moving, or removing molle bags and pouches. They come in all kinds of colors. They are so prevalent now that I don't think anyone will be singled out for having them.
Yes, if no one is carrying a backpack just having one will get you profiled. Absolutely. That’s why I keep one in my vehicle, office, home, etc. ready to go. People carry backpacks when the situation requires it, so carrying a backpack when you need one will be normal. Busy city streets, gym, coffee shops, airports, busses, taxis, train stations and public transport… even offices and job sites. They all have people carrying backpacks. And unless you’re on a uniformed military op or in the woods with no one around… a MOLLE backpack will be one of the worst options 👊🏼
There are plenty of durable, like new packs on E bay. Wilderness Experience, North Face, Kelty all made gear that the molle packs copied. Put a mountaineering back on a molle frame and suspension system. Better yet, go modern and get by with 10-15 lbs of gear like modern thru hikers

I think it's best to have two, one for more discreet (blend in) the other for utility (hiking or rucking). I wear a small molle pouch on my belt when out and about, on lookers see it and have a weary look. Ironically it holds my sketching supplies and a charger. Edit: plus the molle bag would be good to hold easy access items that aren't important (holding points might rip).

That being said, what type of boots do you recommend? Military style of boots are affordable durable and useful in most every situation, but the boots scream the same things out like the bag does. Maybe just get black pairs instead of brown? Or just different pair all the together?

I live in the middle of nowhere, that alone discounts most of these and I do in fact put stuff on the outside of the backpack because it’s quicker and easier to access, inside the backpack is camp setup stuff like tarps tents hammocks and whathaveyou that take up a lot of space that you don’t need to quickly unpack or pack up and on the outside are pouches that hold things like med kits or a fire kit, maybe dog poop bags (you can use dog poop bags for a lot of things including carrying small amounts of water, storing freshly killed meat, carrying small bundles of fibrous tinder that you don’t want wet, etc)

Man's got a point. I got my Molle bag back when BF2 came out and it was a popular trend in college. We would actively target anyone else with a molle bag then would begin interogating them with questions like "what's your rank? Xbox or ps3? Which map do you like?" Putting things that are important in an easy to reach spot where it can't get lost is not stupid. A molle anything is great for extra storage and modularity in a shtf situation
Putting things that are important were you know they are inside your backpack and where they’re easy to get to as a great idea. Strapping them to the outside of your backpack where they are easy for thieves to get to anywhere if you are operating in a jungle environment or urban room, clearing or heavy foliage where they will get you stuck and likely get you killed is not such a good idea, especially when they are jingling and jangling around, but it’s always good that we have a few who are willing to use packed out MOLLE bags to be sacrificial lambs and take attention off the rest of us so that we can be successful

I mean, maybe this was a point years ago when molle was new to civilians but...let's be honest, anything that the military used and was practical in some way in the end got used also by the "normal public" Just take trench coats for example. I don't know why I'd wear a molle backpack in the city or in my daily life, but I could definitely see how it would be good to have for hiking/camping or just in the house for when SHTF. No-one is going to profile me when I'm outdoors, and I don't care about being profiled when SHTF

I'm big into playing airsoft, so here's my take. When at a team event, i use my molle backpack as quick-to-improvise ghillie gear. I'm the event i need to hide my pack, or temporarily blend with wooded surroundings, I place foliage and branches into the molle loops. I mean, it also involves a boonie hat and my vest too, but even still. Why to own a MOLLE pack 1: They’re practical and most often durable 2: you’re most likely a prepper or have military interest, I want you on my team 3: Having webbing is great for packing outside of your pack. When your civilian pack is full, have fun carry in your hand or second bag.

The message that I’m saying is if people are desperate and you have something that they want or something that they may be inquisitive about then you could fall victim. I guess maybe you live or work in a rural area, or maybe you’ve been sheltered your whole life, if so then it make sense that you don’t understand what I have said in the previous text, maybe you have never seen senseless violence before.
Friendly prepper tip: when the tap runs out, pull from your water heater. Should buy you at least another week :)

It’s not the gear, it’s the person. If you look squared away but are wearing a my little pony bag, I’m watching you over the skinny 17 year old with airsoft tacticool gear.
I understand what you are saying, young man and when you first start to learn about tactics and subterfuge, this is the opinion that you take. As you continue learning and gaining experience on your knowledge journey, you will eventually hopefully realize and get to the point where experience shows you that certain “squared away“ guys as you put it at the elite level can tone down or displace the appearance of being squared away and that’s what I am trying to introduce the layman to in this video. When you are ready for the next level, check out the titled “the real Gray man theory.” a quick example of an improvement you could use is the way that you type and present yourself to the world in this situation starting with the word bro are showing a lower IQ level before you even begin your statement. As my everyday backpack, I have a small quality leather backpack. Fits with any outfit or environment. But if I’m working out at the ranch or doing some kind of work, I use my molle backpack. I have a shoulder strap mounted flashlight and knife and the tools I’m using regularly can go on the outside so I don’t have to keep digging in the bag. The bags themselves can be great if the situation calls for it but I do agree that they aren’t an everyday back pack.

What is the old adage, “What is better hidden than what is in plain sight.”
Now let’s talk about you.
Glad I could help you get it the next level brother! Stay sharp !
I got a molle bag for going to the range but my end of days bag is definitely REI lol. I'm with you because in my case, I am not military and I also thought of how I would be profiled or targeted.
Very intelligent 👊🏼
I can tell you with certainty that I would take a modular style pack (or molle) over canvas packs. My main reason is the fact that the molle pack can be broken down and modified to be sleeker or even to have enough equipment for an entire shelter setup. With just one pack, it can be platformed for cqb or long-range trecks. I prefer versatile options. But to each ones own.
Thanks for your service

Where I’m from, people don’t really ever carry a backpack.
So just by carrying one, in this situation, you’re probably going to be profiled.

Putting things that are important in an easy to reach spot where it can't get lost is not stupid.
4th reason : anything on the outside is tempting to thieves in a crowd. They'll lift it gently.

Yes he’s a big fan and takes a lot of inspiration form my videos 👊🏼
Reason 1 .... Solution, use a low profile rain cover (like the maxpedition heavy duty rain cover in black or tan ) .
Military backpacks have good durability.
That’s probably the worst solution I’ve ever heard… being that it actually makes the situation worse 🤣 anyway, Thanks for the feedback! To learn more about tactical skill levels and how to advance check out this video: th-cam.com/video/f6s82m5GHGU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6VX-qEwWk9rFSCvX

Smart man! 👊🏼
Why to own a MOLLE pack
1: They’re practical and most often durable
2: you’re most likely a prepper or have military interest, I want you on my team
3: Having webbing is great for packing outside of your pack. When your civilian pack is full, have fun carry in your hand or second bag.
@@SmallandWoods for poorly trained or untrained low level military grunts MOLLE is practical absolutely. Not for the people using it but for the government paying to equip the disposable soldiers. Once an operator gains a little experience he learns that jingling and jangling around like the Beverly hillbillies with crap strapped all over the outside of his pack that can get caught during room clearing or in heavy brush is possible to get him killed… thanks for showing your level of skill (or lack thereof)! It’s important for us to see how ignorant the common English speaking person is in our modern times so we can make more basic videos that are able to be understood by the average person. Sorry this was over your head young man, check out “the real gray man theory for beginners video” to develop entry level tactical knowledge and progress towards being able to understand the basic concepts shared in this video 👊🏼
@@BoneTactical I have no idea where you got the whole “operator” speech from. I’m talking about general usage. You have a great imagination because your story about clearing rooms and having stuff hanging all around the pack, no idea where you got that from. Also, you don’t know anything about my skills, but you’ve shown what kind of person you are :)
@@SmallandWoods just trying to help young man! Have a great rest of your weekend!
@@BoneTactical I'm pretty sure that MOLLE doesn't require that what you attach is loose, poorly placed, excessive and loud. Also, who clears a building with a big rucksack on? No idea why you're calling the OP a young man. Passive-aggressive and arrogant. You've done an excellent job in the comments of showing your mid-tier skill that will remain frozen in place because of your ego. Furthermore, your attitude will repel people who would take the time to share more insightful comments. Get over yourself. Your content has value but you're dragging yourself down.
Idk, you make some great points but i think in a survival situation molle is great due to the massive amount of additional equipment i can haul that wouldnt fit in pretty much any bag, examples being a miltilayer sleep system, multiple water sources, and aditional medical kits placed externally for ease of access. In an urban environment i think i agree with you though, the first battle you win is the draw and if you dont look like a threat you increase your lethality.

@Bone Tactical Well bless your heart you sound like you know everything. Types of bags and gear really depend on WHERE you live. Like myself im in a small southern town . I carry use 5.11 gear and I fit in with the general population but I don't everything. Hell most the people around here wear camo drive trucks and wait for it about 90 percent of the people here actually carry. What do you about that.
