Lol the nostalgia at the beginning. This game brings me back when I was like 8 years old. This is probably one of the most underrated games out there. I tip my hat to you good sir...and also fuck the kelp forest.
And then continuing to give up on the game after being super confused because they didn't read the FREAKING TUTORIAL!

I remember the boss' being way harder then they actually were. Also, I REALLY don't remember the flying dutchman fight. Oh yea, when I went back to the game there wasn't a whole lot left to interest me, but two things got, hard! Kelp forest's last friggin' spatula (lol) and holy moly, the dream sequence! It blew my mind on how they managed to make such huge maps! I had so many feelings for this game and am glad to have played this. But I do wonder why Squidward wasn't a playable character, I 100% expected to play him!
Too bad they only played 4 episodes

Plot Twist: Battle for Bikini Bottom 3D
This is honestly one of the most underrated games ever. This is up there with Skyrim for me.
I cannot wait for the Elder's Scrolls X Spongebob crossover.

Anyways, I'm definitely a fan now and can't wait to see you tackle the Movie game. Love that one too, although it was definitely restricted to follow the Movie timeline (and that backtracking), but I'm glad to see more people appreciate Heavy Iron :)
Despite Truth or Square being somewhat lackluster, I hope that Heavy Iron gets to make the game for the new movie. They could totally pull it off.

This game is getting a rehydrated version in 2020
Heat oven to 150C/130C fan/gas 2. Put the prunes in a bowl with the brandy and brown sugar, stir, then set aside to soak.
Dust the rabbit in the flour. Heat the oil in a large flameproof dish and brown the rabbit all over until golden - you may have to do this in batches. Set the rabbit aside. Add the bacon, vegetables, garlic and herbs to the dish and fry for 5 mins until starting to colour.
Pour in the red wine and scrape all the goodness off the bottom of the dish. Add the chicken stock and put the rabbit back in the dish with the boozy prunes, then cover and cook for 2 hrs, stirring occasionally, until the rabbit is totally tender. Serve scattered with parsley and wild rice on the side.
The mermaid man stage ball room part made me cry as a kid it was brutal and even tho i am much better at it now its still a little brutal this is an amazing review and i will always love this game and even let my future kids play this game XD

That's not really a coincidence, THQ is a publisher who owned the rights for Spongebob video games years ago. They hire development studios, in this case Heavy Iron, to make the games for them.
Its pretty appalling to find someone who basically has all the same emotions about this game as me. This game is my childhood.

Other than your voiceover, which I thought needed improvement in places, video was otherwise fairly well scripted and edited. Couple of bits ran on too long, both of which happened to be musical bits in this case: the "One Pair of Pants later" part, and the part where you played the Robot Patrick music. Obviously, yes, the latter song is good, but we don't need to hear it for THAT long. :P
Other than that, good effort. Keep at it, just improve the voiceover.
The voice overs are definitely some of the weaker points. If I record different lines on different days, they sound way too inconsistent, so I settle for tracks that aren't necessarily perfect. Thanks for the feedback!

I miss this game so much! My favorite character is Sandy and my favorite part was sliding down the mountains! We, me and my sister, had fun! I used to explore and just have fun, while my sister wanted to complete it! The hardest part, and it took us years, was the final boss! I miss those days! I love rewatching this video for the nostalgia! Bobby, thank you for reviving the memories I once had! This was the best game ever when I was younger! You just made me miss childhood, and I love that! Thank you again for the memories!
Great review. I just started thinking about how much fun this game was and how much it felt like SpongeBob and wanted to see what others thought. Glad I'm not alone. I'm considering buying another PS2 for this game.

Battle for Bikini Bottom is one of my favorite games of all time. I love both BfBB and The Movie game. Let's just hope Heavy Iron does the inevitable Spongebob Movie 2 tie in game. This review was awesome, great job!

I play both of these games on the GameCube Since I was 4 Yrs old! 4! these games with always be engraved in my mind. they are my most favorite games of all time and i still play them today! Both games deserve a gold medal and 3000 dollars... well in my opinion.
it's funny because i'm only 12 but i remember getting this game for the ps2 and loving it. I've beaten it 2 times! In my opinion it is the best spongebob game ever created and it deserves a sequel!

Second, I noticed that you made a comment on Tak's jumping controls. Now I'm curious. Do you actually like the Tak trilogy? Or do you dislike the games? I just would love to know because it's hard to find fans of Tak nowadays.
+Liam Triforce I am so conflicted on those games. I remember really like the second one, but I haven't payed that one in years. The first one has a lot of really good ideas, but it's like it goes out of its way to piss me off with incredibly frustrating elements to compensate.

+Lina Alami The PC version is a point and click game, different gameplay entirely. You'll have to get a Gamecube, Xbox or PS2 to play the game sadly.

Anyway, I just finished Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake. While I enjoyed it, it’s not as good as BFBB in my humble opinion.

9:54 Ernest Borgnine was still alive and well when this game was made, but Joe Whyte did the voice of Mermaid Man instead. Interestingly, he is the current voice of the character on the actual show.

I didn't grow up with this game, as i grew up with the Movie game. After playing the movie game as a child, MAN, BFBB is a breeze in comparison. The movie game i appreciate as being probably the only spongebob game to have enemies and plot not centered around spongebob fighting robots (BECAUSE WHAT THE HECK, THOSE MONSTERS SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME AS A KID, their jumpscare sound was the worst) but i can say BFBB is the only spongebob game to do the "robots attack" premise right.
I like how flexible BFBB, where part of the movie game's difficulty is being forced to do missions/tasks you didn't want to do. BFBB is also much more interactive, it's really just an interactive episode. But it felt really short to me, idk. Maybe because i nearly breezed through most of it, but i don't know. It's a cool game, a great gift to spongebob fans, and i wish it'd get a re-release/re master with all the ditched content put in, like the costumes, patricks dream, an extension to the final boss, and the squidward robot boss. Maybe squidward would be a playable character too. That'd be the best. -

this was the first game I ever bought for my ps2. I saw the commercial and my lil kid spongebob obsessed self begged my parents to let me get it and we got it one night from blockbuster. this is one of my favorite games ever hands down
I've played Spongebob: Plankton's Robotic Revenge for Wii U a little bit and you definetly see how much they changed Spongebob when THQ was dead, Heavy Iron Studios didn't get the licence and the game turned into Sonic Heroes... or Phineas and Ferb: Across the 3rd Dimension. It's not that it's bad. It's just very different.

just so you know its called phineas and ferb across the 2nd dimension and planktons robotic revenge was very bad. most people that bought it were thinking its BFBB 2 but it really isn't

@BobbyBroccoli I think Joe Whyte actually did great voice acting for Mermaid Man and Mr. Krabs whilst also replacing Clancy Brown and Ernest Borgnine for their roles.

This game was my fucking childhood. Played this to death. As a hyperactive kid back then and a stoner now, I love Spongebob lmao.
I hate the fact Heavy Iron didn't even port the game to PC. They made it a shitty point and click game...however, thankfully emulators do exist, but if this was just on PC as the console game, a toaster could run this, considering it came out in '03. This game is definietly fun and brings back lots of memories.
