Thank you for sharing this with us. Geno is a legend in women’s basketball coaching and among the all time greats including John Wooden, Pat Summitt, Coach K, Pat Riley, Phil Jackson, and Bertha Teague.
I love the attitude that the kids only go there because they want to be great and his job is just to help them achieve THEIR goals. It changes the picture dramatically from a program where the coach rants and raves and pushes players all the time. Even in his younger days he probably realized there had to be this better way.
He is like a new version of John Wooden. All the work is done BEFORE they take the court in the game. He, like Wooden, also makes his players the best people they can be. The problem is that there are some players who never open the door and let Geno help them walk through it.
You know, Geno is what I want to be when I grow up. Not that I'm likely to, at my age, but still. Obviously I knew-- hell, everybody knows-- that Geno has something special. You don't accrue the resume he has without. But this may be the best articulation of the phenomenon I have ever heard. This was 6 minutes long. And I learned about 30 years worth of stuff in it. Me 'at's off to the Duke. Well done, old man.
You were suppose to win dude you had 5 number one players in the country on the floor for multiple years in a role at the same time . Example 2026 Player of year , 2027 player of year , 2028 player of year , 2029 player of year , 2030 player of the year . Aren’t you suppose to win if you did this for 25 straight years . I’m really surprised you only have 11 titles

When the GOAT speaks you have to listen! 👍🏻
Self awareness at its best!
This conversation may be old, but the wisdom, the insight, the honesty, and the humanness never gets old.
Wisdom of experience and success.
Last quote, "I'm not always good at that good, but I'm trying." hit me between the eyes.
