What a crazy start of the video with all the masting techniques. And here I am, paying like a sucker a lot of money to the marina just to lift it up real quick, bring her down, have me put on two screws and then put it back in......
Pulling the mast over to the pontoon! WOW that was really something. And meeting some of your competitors. My Friday was hard, this video lifted my spirits. Thank you Hugo for taking us along on this ride :-)
OK, you rent a boat and then you drill holes inside the hull. I'm not gonna let you borrow my motorbike !!! Thumb's up anyway, another great episode to enjoy just before the start of the Vendée Globe.
Im guessing he discussed It with the owner, but im still wondering whether there was no easier way to do it (rewire through the mast, or find a wireless solution).
Hello from Hamburg, Germany. Throughout the lockdown(s) I have been discovering a lot of TH-cam channels about different ways of travelling and seeing the world. (Well, different than what I usually do. ) I have found a love of sailing videos and now watch many sailing channels, (including yours). Markus, (my partner in crime), grew up in a sailing family and has thousands of hours at sea, but even though we have been together for 15 years now, I have NEVER been on a sailboat! I hope to change that in 2021 if the situation in the world allows it. :-)
Nice one Hugo...looks like plan b ( c?) worked out for the wind vane including a birds eye view of the competition. Looking forward to another Mini adventure !
Tried the same thing (Wind speed) on a hire yacht in shallow water , didn't realise it was a bilge keeler , fell over with a hellover bang , gave everyone a fright Ha
For a Junk-Rig the book I have suggests fixing an A-frame to each beam, and lifting it out that way. My mast has about 2 meters bury, with the COG being about 3m above deck, so it wouldn't have to be a huge construction, although I didn't try it yet.
I used an A-frame to do the Chicago-Mobile section of the Great Loop, singlehanded. Easy! (The A-frame, that is.) It’ll be bigger than you thought, & must be rigged bomb-proof.
It’s funny I’ve worked in Canberra on and off over the years and as the city roads are full of roundabouts they say to just keep turning left and eventually you’ll get where you need to 😉
Yeah he just need to pad it out a bit to make the video longer 🤣🤣🤣 I noticed it as well, was going to comment but you already did 👍🏼 Maybe it was to generate some extra comments for the YT algorithm in which case it worked 🤣
The IMOCAs are restricted by their box rule; that's why their scow bow isn't as extreme as the mini, but if you compare the Imoca bow from the past 6/8 years and the ones before, you'll see a clear evolution

Just casually tipping your boat all the way over. No sweat! They are amazingly sturdy boats aren't they.
Yes they are!
haha love the wind vane repair twice... also good to see the jib sheet system with the low friction rings etc. really cool thanks for the video.
There's absolutely no doubt about you love sailing!

@@garma7939 looked a fast easy solution to me. Might add to the rig hum at speed :-) change its note ha ha
@@garma7939 Yeah for sure that was a team work. I was just kiddin ;-)
Another enjoyable vid, good luck 🤞🏻with the next race Captain Picard.
These boats look so cool
Damn! Why didn’t I think of pulling my boat over to work on the mast head, looks like it would be so much easier for those who don’t like heights!
Thanks for the video.
Whenever someone asks me to like their video, I always do. 👍
That's really kind, thanks a lot :)
great video. thanks. i think if i tried that with my boat it would sink lol
I don't think that if the boat was inverted it would self right.
Let's hope we never find out.
Love the boat would love to be on the races.
Nice 👍🏻

Great video, really interesting technique for getting to the top of the mast!
C'est quel bateau ?
C'est un bateau de série ?
On dirait le maxi 6.50 d'IDB marine
There like super-sized toppers underneath
Dismasting sounds a bit like something went terribly wrong ,unstepping the mast may sound a bit less unnerving
Thanks for all your great video's
Wauu Nice shots. What kind og drone do you have?
When are you arriving to NY Harbour?
Working on that ;)
When in doubt always go west. I like that as that is my motto since I live In Western Australia .....always go west. 😄👍
It’s funny I’ve worked in Canberra on and off over the years and as the city roads are full of roundabouts they say to just keep turning left and eventually you’ll get where you need to 😉
Same West Aussie
Does anyone know the name of the Intro-Song?
11:40 and 12:15 big-ass racing tri 😃
Yep, IDEC and Actual Leader, Ultim class, absolute beast of the seas :)

Can someone bring me up to speed, I've been away for a bit. Where's 'an ale'?
he-he )) you have inserted intro 2 times in this vid ))) nice

Yeah, realized that after all the exporting, uploading, subtitles....etc was done, I gave up haha

at 11:15, L'Occitane was sitting in the background and you didnt take us for a quick look? come on!
Haha, they are well guarded I'm afraid
Marc
When is the main Transat race and where can we follow along?
The transat is in September 2021, will share the tracker link etc... in due time
Tem algum tipo de piloto confiável? Não ví leme de vento. Não pode?
Come on BG people help this guy for some reliable windvane and other materials
Super video, again. Question, what is the blue disc you were wearing on your chest while at sea?
Remote control for the autopilot :)
Well you could always show us how to make amazing sailing videos thanks.
