The malay boat making differs from the rest of the world as the malays would form the outer planks first before laying her keel while the non-malays would form the planks after laying the keel. I just hope they have enough youngsters to continue this precious trade.

Pakistan also make boats but wood is imported from other countries. The cost of wood is major component. A diesel engine is fixed to propel the ship in the sea. The sails are not utilised. Terengganu should apply UNESCO for their boat.. long time ago, every kingdom in peninsular malaysia will used terengganu boat..
Proud of our Malay heritage.The govt has to save this heritage and pass down the skills to the next generation
