The logic is that everyone is strong, no one would ever doubt that, but Musashi is a warrior with a set of skills almost no one in the modern day can manage. That’s why it’s specifically Motobe, who has trained in a similar manner to Musashi, that is needed to protect everyone. And he doesn’t have to defeat Yujiro, he has to defeat Musashi. That was the whole point in their eventual clash. He used everything in his tool bag to win. And even then, he only lived because he never was a threat to Musashi’s life. But that’s the difference between the current fighters, he knew how to win besides strength or technique.

Tbh, Motobe protected the manga because if you think about it, if Yujiro defeated Musashi, it would've been a comic character defeating a very important historical figure, which would've caused serious outrage against the author and his manga, but if Musashi defeated Yujiro, that would've been a MAJOR character that is important to the plot, offed like that.
So in a meta sense, Motobe saved the Baki universe lmao
