I'm in the process of converting this module over to 5e and I wish you had finished these series. I appreciate the time you put into the videos you did make, though. Great content!

Ha... Me too actually. Been doing a *lot* of research myself last few weeks building it up in roll20... Takes a lot of time.....

It might be too late for you to use, but I will be returning to finish the series. Hope your progress on converting the module has been time well-spent! And good luck with this module when you run it!

@@CopperDragonGames actually still working on it. aim to start early 2025. made a *lot* of tweaks and adjustments to the game and mechanics.
Interestingly enough I think the NIght Below is perfect to push more into the Eldrich Horror approach and using Sanity mechanics; afterall the entire plot initially is based on poions of domination and then mind flayers.
Be interested to see your approach; I have been wondering if this module could be converted more as a community run thing than individual people getting in too deep.

Would love for you to finish this series. I'm stealing the 2nd and 3rd books from this adventure for my homebrew game where I'm sending the party to the underdark to find a missing dragon. I planned to have the dragon stolen or killed by mindflayers so this adventure seems like a good thing to run and just modify as needed. The vids so far in this series have been great and helped me think of what to change and keep.

Great suggestions thank you! I have also jad success with tag along NPCs being run by the party letting them decide what the NPC does and taking turns rollimg for them.

    All good ideas. My notes:
-Our very Appalachian-themed Paladin took Haranshire as his backstory home, and had gone adventuring to bring PCs back to rescue his fellow mineworkers from servitude in the mines. My PCs took it personally that the local priest was kidnapped. Broke their heart to get to the Kou-Toa city and learn he had been beaten to death there (as per the book).
--Our party showed up at L3, having run Against the Cult of the Reptile God formatted for 5e and to segue into Night Below.
-Grimlocks attacking the PCs on the road led them to Broken Spire Keep.
-They attacked both Brokenspire Keep and the Garlstone Mine from the bottom, via the tunnels.
-I made the mine fight more epic by adding the Wyrmheart Mine map levels from Tomb of Annihilation. (No dragon, of course)
    Books 2&3
-They ended up getting attached to the Deep Gnome guide I sent with them. He lasted through to the final fight. I rolled him as L1 Ranger, levels of Trickery Domain Cleric to be equal level to the PCs.
-The only high level NPCs they tried to attach to were the Mind Flayers, whom I had to beef up in case the party of 8 PCs of 8th level decided to kill them. Once attached, the mind flayers held back on their powers to avoid using up their resources (In case the PCs double-crossed them). Ipashazeen was most helpful getting them through the gates at Great Shaboath and leading them to the Tower of Domination.
-I omitted the demon ladies "adventuring group" partially because of adding too much power and partially to delete the Baatzu embassy side mission and close down the campaign sooner.
-I omitted the manta wizards (Ixath....something.) Too silly and not needed. I also omitted the Rockseer Elves.
-I omitted the outer towers of the Tower of Domination for brevity.
-I beefed up the Derro to 4HD with a Trip maneuver as a Bonus Action.
-After the City of the Glass Pool, they wanted to go back and deal with the Behir. That went fine, but they chickened out at the Shadow Dragon. (I had to brew up my own, since 5e resources were scant and weak.

Lots of great ideas there, Curt! Thank you for the compliment and for sharing your own thoughts on improving Night Below! Given that I live in the shadow of the Appalachians, I'd love to hear more about your Appalachian-inspired paladin... hahaha. We have some similarities in how we approached some aspects of books 2&3, but I'll save my secrets for a later video in this series! 🤐

I practiced it a lot more during the campaign, but it's been a few months... hahaha... should have practiced a little more before I recorded this! Next time I run the adventure, I'll just change the name altogether. 😆

I'd like to. I started a new job this year (GREAT for my career) that has kept me super busy (not so great for my hobbies). Hoping I can catch my breath and get back to gaming (and TH-cam content) soon. I'll definitely be back... I love this hobby, this channel, and the community... just not sure how soon it'll be.
