97-02 Camaro Gauge Cluster Removal and LED 194 Bulb Replacement Upgrade. Much brighter!

- This is an install video for how to remove the gauge cluster in a 4th gen Camaro. Removing the entire gauge cluster is not an easy removal. There is not a lot of room to wiggle the entire cluster out. I decided to take another approach which I think is easier for most people. They use 194 led bulbs for this operation. If the led bulbs do not work you need to rotate the bulbs 180 degrees for the proper polarity. Hope video is helpful.

Great video and one that was needed.I replaced the gauge lights a few years ago with LEDs and I removed the gauges with the clear benzel still attached and it was an absolute nightmare but it can be done.lol.But then a few months later i had to remove it again to put a bowtie and SS vinyl graphics on the gauges and I figured out then that removing them separately was so much easier.So basically what I am getting at is this video could potentially help alot of people.
Thank you for the great tutorial. This helped me fix my needle which was stuck underneath the glass bezel. Instant fixed save me a couple hundred on mechanical per hour charge

Here is a list of exterior led bulbs I have used and links to where I got them. The rear license plate bulb is the same as the dash bulbs. I don't recommend going cheap on the gauge bulbs because you don't want to pull the gauge cluster twice:

Sylvania 194 bulbs for rear plate, these are also good for the oem housing for the 4th light thats on all the time. I also used these for the led dash conversion video. They are bright and high quality and you don't want to cheap out on the dash. Yes you can find cheaper alternatives but they likely won't last as long.

Once you use led for any turn signals you will need a new relay otherwise you will get the FAST blinking lights. Only issue with this relay is it has no clicking sound to remind you your turn signals are on. You get used to it.

I used the clear front lens and these "switchback bulbs for the front. They are yellow with front lights off but they are bright white with the lights on. Its a really nice look with led front lights and led fog lights. They will flash yellow when turning signal on

Are the signal and high beams bulbs different than the other illuminated gauge bulbs?
If you are talking about the bulbs in the guage cluster, they are all the same

What bulbs did you buy love the hint of blue in those lights??!!
Those are just white bulbs. The gauge has a natural blue tint film. The led bulbs are just so much brighter that the tint shows up better. Here is a list of all the bulbs used for exterior.

I see Sylvania has “ZEVO Super Bright LED” 194s and “normal” LED 194s, assuming you used normal?

Thanks man. Interior lights are all done. Honestly they are not hard to do and really light up the interior well. Exterior lights make a big difference.
In watching some other videos on TH-cam you've committed on replacing your turn signals with LEDs. I think you use the 3156/3157: GTR LIGHTING CARBIDE 2.0 (RESISTOR-FREE). But did you go with the Non-CK or the CK configuration? Can you link the parts you used to do that? Or post a video about it? Thanks. I like this upgrade as well.
I used this tutorial on my 99 z28 to basically reverse what the last owner did since I’m not a fan of the leds,once I got everything back together to see what my dash looked like my abs and brake light came on and gas meter isn’t reading right neither ,no lights where on before hand, any thoughts on how to fix it?(great tutorial btw)
Hello, that sounds strange honestly. I know that if you reverse the lights with led they will go dark. Maybe there was always a brake or abs issue the previous owner just shut off with reversed led bulbs? I’m just guessing on that one. Does your abs work? Have you pulled any codes from obd2 port? The lights will only comic there is an issue. Brake light is the hand brake so that may need adjustment. The fuel gauge needle maybe just stuck. I would open it back up and adjust fuel guage needle
How did u get the camaro ss to light up also
It was an aftermarket single din bracket with an led light in the bracket. For the life me I can't remember where I got it from and google not being cooperative.
