I'm always envious of Mae as she is able to run up those stairs as I'm trying to not die getting from tenth street to Duquesne's campus.

Same here! I don't even want to imagine going up the South Side stairs to Duquesne's campus nowadays haha. Did a number on me back in the day, and it'd surely be twice as hard now that I'm old lol!

I knew the game was set somewhere in their world's equivalent of the Rust Belt but never put much thought into exactly where. I'd put together the Smelters/Steelers connection but having never been to that area of the country the rest went over my head. It definitely puts some characters like Bea and Selmers' opinions into perspective.

I have never been to the rust belt in my entire life. Which is why I found Night in the Woods so fascinating to me. As it is probably the closest I will ever get to the rust belt.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, and I actually just thought it was coincidence. This is rad. Edit: Great work on the video!

It’s so cool how passionate you are about NITW, I like the way you express yourself in your videos. I wish I had the energy to continue making videos about the game I’m passionate about

Fun fact: during the admittedly wretched yrs in the 1980s when the Pittsburgh Steelers endured some truly disappointing game seasons, a local radio station (B94 fM) had a morning-show team ("Quinn And Banana") that recorded & aired a parody of the regionally beloved song "The Pennsylvania Polka" --
    "HELP!!!!!"
    🎶
We are the fans with the bags on our heads
    We watch the Pittsburgh Steelers!
Fumbles and safeties are now what we dread
    What's happened to our Steelers??
Franco and Bradshaw are memories at best
    And all our tailgate parties!
Our ground game is less than stunning
The clock's about all there is that's running!
"These men ... are a joke"
    Awful Offense!
    Double coverage --
    "Don't throw it over THERE!"
    Intercepted!
    Ball gets tipped up
    High into the air!
    Defense grabs it,
    Runs downfield and
    Right across the goal!
    I can't bear to see
    What I'm watching on TV!
    This game is headed
    To the Toliet
    Bowl-owl-owl!
We are the fans who are filled with remorse
    We watch the Pittsburgh Steelers!
"Third down and TWENTY" is par for the course
    What's happened to our Steelers??
Chuck Knoll is building, but *we don't what*
I hope it ain't "The Maulers"!
I've been through two six-packs already,
Just listening to some of Myron's callers!
    "Yoy!"
"And DOUBLE yoy! Hackenzolla! Get out!!"
    Offense! Offense!
"Hey, where the HELL'S the offense?? We ain't gettin' no respect!"
    Offense! Offense!
"Hey, my Terrible Towel's at half mast, here -- somebody get me another beer!"
    Offense! Offense!
"It ain't the Terrible Towel, anymore! It's the Terrible Team!!"
    I can't bear to see
    What I'm watching on TV!
    This team is going
    To the Toilet
    Bowl-owl-owl!
    🎶
    "HELP!!!!!"
[All joking aside, for anyone unfamiliar w/ the persons & events of the '80s Steelers era, I heartily recommend the book "Lost Sundays"]

Hahaha, that is a hilarious song! I'll have to check out that book - I always forget that the Steelers had a rough go of it in the 80s. If only you guys had drafted Marino!

Go Smelters! I love the geography of Possum Springs, the hills always reminded me of my own south eastern home.
I have to wonder what town Briddle resembles? As Mae mentions a bridge to the town being collapsed.
Also the battle of Blair Mountain is where the term 'redneck' comes from!

Polka comes from the Czech Republic, not from Poland, and "pierogi" is the plural form of "pieróg". Yes, I'm Polish. ;)

I always did wonder where exactly Possum Springs might be. I figured it would be in the Rust Belt but where in the Rust Belt was beyond my manic brain cells and their desire to fill every gap with my own storytelling details. Sometimes those brain cells forget this is someone else's story, and I'm just along for the ride 😻🦊🐻🐊

Well I didn’t know where NITW was set, didn’t think too much of it. Just another small, romanticized American town

    • @owlbatross9187
      @owlbatross9187  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

In a lot of ways, at it's core, that's still what it is! A place caught up in its romanticized past, much like many small towns here in America

@@owlbatross9187 To me, Possum Springs is supposed to be a blank slate for whetever you want it to be
