Christopher Robbins book, 'The Empress Of Ireland' is a heart-warming and frequently hysterical account of the author's time working with Hurst on an epic biblical film that was never to make it to the screen. By this time Hurst's career was all but over, due to a combination of old-age, alcoholism, genteel poverty and eccentricity, yet his irrepressible 'joie de vivre' leaps from every page. Highly recommended. xx SF
