My brother & me listen to this album all the way to Woodstock 69 & all the way back. My brother James Hannan pass in 76 @ age 28 but I am still rocking at 72 Van is the best!!
That is young for anyone to die Joe, but at least James got to have Astral Weeks , and a brother like you part of his earthly experience.
Keep on rockin' Joe. Keep venturing into the slipstream.
@your right, he loved that album!
My big brother passed aged 22, I promise you from first hand experience they never really leave us ❤️ energy doesn’t and can’t ever die ❤️🙏🏽✨
I bet that was an experience. Great story. You need to write about your adventure at Woodstock.
@@kerry1344 brothers never die!!
Van Morrison, pouring me a glass of wine, on a rainy and foggy night, fireplace crackling, then, he whips-out his acoustic guitar and begins to serenade me. Whew! A girl can dream...
😁🎸🎶👍
YES! 😊
I will pour some wine. It has still been cold & rain here in 05/2023. Going to light some candles with my fireplace on & listen to his music.Good enough for me. Ive been lifetime fan.Thanking him for all the music. This is a wonderful
God continue to bless Sir Van Morrison & his family.🙏🤍💚💛
Astral weeks one of the best albums of all time, been listening to it since about 72,this concert outstanding
DO buy this fantastic CD. DON'T play it in the car. The music enters your bloodstream making it difficult to concentrate on the road. At times you get weak in the knees, making it harder to hit the brake. Listen at home, in the dark with a few candles burning. Then swoon with pleasure.
He never made a disappointing song!
I was lucky to get DVD before Van pulled it
Hmm if people get in my ute guess who they have to listen to ,along with other Van options
I always like to hear Van Morrison live in my car :D Love it.
ty for advice
When that fiddle kicks in the transcended really starts. Thank you Sir Van
Who was that player?
now thats what i call Music
Truly, Van has no equal!
God, I wish I had been there. One of the best venues there is on a summer night.
Tight band. This is a cosmic performance.
A Van Morrison love song. If I went on an astral journey through the universe. waaaaaay up in the heavens -- as I can't even help but go -- "could you find me? WOULD you ... ?"
I've been listening to this song and this album for decades now. It's still jolting, soulful art.
"Take my hand ... "
Loved this concert! 3rd row center, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Made a trip to Ireland in 2013 and saw him again at the Europa in Belfast. Worth every penny. He's the best!
Trudi Dick Iwas at the Europa concert.Iv seen him live over 50 times. My children have been rared on his music and now my grandchildren.Sir Van Morrison is part of our family life.Thankyou Sir.
Man I envy you !!! Must have been sublime !
❤❤❤❤
If a genie ever appears, wish one is to go back in time and go to this concert. You lucky duck!
Mr. Morrison, you are truly great. I am a fan of your, while listening to you, always feel I've had not enough, heavenly music, thanks Sir, I wish you a long n healthy life, we are truly indebted. I am Christopher from Chennai, southern india
I will declare hear and right now that my 1st cousin Van is one of the greatest guitar players of times, he must be because he plays his guitar on some of the most stunning, brilliant and meaningful songs of all times and has done so over the past 60 years or so
.
The rhythm of my life. Thanks Van.
Just FANTASTIC I don't know how to type all fancy I don't know how to spell that well I get messed what I'm going to type, but hearing the sounds of of Awesome instruments I SURE can follow that Van and the Band BRAVO GodBlessLovePeaceToAllNations
Recently I've come full circle with Van Morrison. Actually it's been a few months and I must confess I kinda am blown away. I know Bob Dylan, I also know Neil Young, Jackson Brown and a few others but for the moment or should I say this new season with Van Morrison has been quite an experience. That's all I'm going to say about that.
Tim Buckley is other amazing journey !
I love listening to Van Morrison! I also just discovered Jacob Banks. More great music!
💃😎..ha-ha!!💖🎺...go on and 'say IT'.".Mr. Van Is The Man"...KING OF SONGS-IN-THE-KEY OF LIFE..🏆🌿🔥..😎..sure you right!👍💞
Funny you mention Neil Young who has just made a statement that he wants to see information about medical freedom censored. Van on the other hand is one of the few great musicians of my generation (along with Clapton) who is speaking out for freedom. This scamdemic has really shown me a lot about where people stand.
@@JeffSchreiber99 We all have the right to individual opinion. What I liked about Neil Young’s stance is he stood up for what he believes is truth. And now he is also being rewarded monetarily for it. And I say good for Mr Young !!! I’ve loved Van’s music my whole life & always will. I also tend to disagree with his Covid stance. But I would fight to the death for his right to express his views. Long live freedom of speech & Van Morrison !!!! 🍀👏👍✌️🌅💕
He is the best- no one comes close - BRILLIANT every concert is different and every time he appears in concert it should be captured on film as it would be a monumental shame to have any of his live performances lost forever- there is no one who can arrange their songs so differently. Van - you play the best live music ever produced.
In my opinion, it is his best album!
No... The greatest album ever made. From God to Van's Lips
Of course
@@zed6338 This comment sounds like it’s hyperbole. But it’s not. It’s spot on!
@@moscowguitarman It is timeless and will be played forever
short of the collapse of civilization. And I don't think that is hyperbole. I think the EU is some form recognized it as one of the masterworks of 20th century European culture.
Not just yours….many attribute this as the nadir of his work
I was at this concert and cherished every wonderful moment.
Stellar opening version of the track Astral Weeks! the best.
One of my favorite singers .At 74 never got to see him in concert. Hope I will before I'm gone!
Just close your eyes 👀 and listen and you'll transcend
lower voice...still rich and bold...greatest album...top five all time...
He ...and i do mean VAN,,,plays it any way he feels like playing it. He knows what the hell he is doing and HE RULES! Amazing Man Amazing Music
There is nothing indecipherable about THE MAN hes given me ALL my musical hits for lst 40 ish years bar none he is genius writer musician a legend and i loooove every note and word he produces jill copeland
Love astral weeks. If I went to a desert island and could only have one song I would bring this one
Just beautiful
I would listen to this album on my boat away from the island?
Van, acoustic band, double bass -- skipping and rumbling, magical, soothing, hypnotic.
Drums, way deep in the pocket
Heard Van live on Boston Common in early 70s. There is none better.
Did you know Van was living in Cambridge when he wrote astral weeks songs? Some say on Greene Street near the Plow and Stars
Perfect for lifting up my Spirits during the COVD-19🤗❤️🙏☀️🌻🎸 🎶
Lol very ironic to talk about COVID-19 in a Van Morrison video.
@@zackzallie8735 why?
@@zackzallie8735 no more lockdown.
Love how funky it gets around the 4-5 minute mark! The MAN!
Gorgeous!
I missed that concert
Ivan. Kindred. Your songs have made me. Changed me. My Lion lies with my lamb. Some day soon we will talk just for the pure fun of it.
Wow...superb!
First time i ever heard Astral Weeks was in 1969. A guy who claimed to be the heir of the throne of Prussia or Russia (i forget) told me to lay down and listen to God's music. We had already dropped a bunch of acid, but hell, for God's music, we did more.
Now, in my 60's, i still think of this as God's Music. I've never heard a better album than Astral Weeks. I would have given a limb to have been at this concert.
Hey Dennis ditto for me. September 1969 on 9 upper in the Saugeen - Maitland residence of UWO. I have since purchased every commercial release by The Man. No acid but we were smoking weed at the time. I have seen him three times when he played Toronto.
That's a nice story. Two days ago I took an 8th of mushrooms and listened to the Astral Weeks album in its entirety while sitting at the lakeside in the park in this neighborhood. I don't think I have ever experienced a more beautiful day. It's like he pulled this music directly out of the world's natural beauty in the most concrete and perceptible way. Dylan's music comes from somewhere within his person, but Morrison's music seems to come from the heaven that is a sunny day.
You are so right, an really acid isn't a requirement. Two glasses of wine an a shot whiskey...now I hear it
I totally missed this album during when it came out. Knew of it, but wasn't open enough to recognize his sheer brilliance. Rediscovered an in '90, thankfully, by then I was ready. My brother sent me the Enlightenment CD which I at first didn't like but put it on one day at work, got busy and couldn't change the music. Four hours later it'd played through several times and became a sound track for me I could not ignore. From there I consumed every Van album out there (CDs by then), bought them, got lost in them. And in '09 my wife and I flew to NYC to see this concert performed live and Astral Weeks in its entirety. Not a bad seat in the house. I could read the drum set insignias from our seats (and they weren't the $$ ones either). Felt like I was born again, totally reborn into a moment on high, venturing that slip stream, way up in the heavens, transcending breathing in and breathing out Caledonia with all the saints and sages . . .
Wasn't Putin busking in Paris, by any chance?
the most prolific (with consistent excellence) of ANY of the RnR poets....
Nothing but pure CLASS!!
Its my biggest love ever, VAN the man!!! ....what means P O E T R Y and the music really stays me alive..:;))))))and I think ,.. not at yt
iam again listening and it is grandios!!!..where are the others ??? listen one time ...thats it ???
since 7,,or more years they are not interested, i cant believe ??
its not a hot dog , just to eat ..and then it s finished..
This version and the band are great. Just started getting into his live performances and 'more obscure stuff' (like instrumental "Scandinavia") about a year ago. Now I know why his fans are so enthusiastic.
Spectacular orchestral production pieced together...genius!
One of the truly great songs
Boss tune 👌
will share this with my band tonght words cannot xpress how i feel about Ivan, n his music, Gods' music i dont know but i do thank the Most High for allowing me to come in contact with this Lucky Charms so long ago
Look to your higher self
do Ancient Highways from Days like These (where everyone knows what I mean) a vocal Tour de Force
What's the name of your band? I started playing with Shanana at Woodstock 69. Miss the stage.
Masterful! Pure awesomeness!
heals my soul mr morrison since a long time thx
I really hope this concert happens 🙏
VAN IS DA MAN!!!!!!
To be born again. We are spirits in bodies. Covid won't get us down.
I was very fortunate to attend the Hollywod Bowl concert of the full Astral Weeks album. I have seen VM many times, in many cities and years through my life. This performance was unique, exquisite- and stands alone-the band was one with Van and the beauty of this early music with the musicians here - Check out the full concert video from the album!
Magnificent. Thank you Mr Morrison.
I love 'It's Too Late To Stop Now' don't get me wrong, and everything Van has done has been absolutely incredible, but this is how Astral Weeks should be played. The musicianship of Astral Weeks, as well as the incredible imagery, it what lifts it to the greatest of all time.
best ever where the water runs crystal clear transcended
outstanding as always! Magnificent!!! I saw him twice, & missed a third concert in Leipzig/Germany because of a moodswing of my ex-partner, I will never forget, not sure I can ever forgive him... now it is hard to find a concert in my area :-(
Many wanted to play with you Understandably This particular recording embellishes not only you but every musician playing with you Where the water crystal clear
Just awesome! The fiddle work or violin work is superb. I know nothing about music. But this is fantastic.
Think I read somewhere (in VM video comments) that this is "celtic violin" style.. No nothing about it, but it's in a lot of his music. To hear much of violin/string licks (in a GREAT song) listen to Tir Na Nog.. never knew he did anything like that - think is about a mythical Irish place of peace.. can see images by artists of it on inet.
Still a masterpiece.
First heard the album after Rolling Stone put it up around number 7 in their all-time list of great albums. That was around 1979.
From what I've read since, though, Morrison was in dire straits financially when he did the album. Whatever works.
Beautiful. All the way.
I love me some Van Morrison....Oh yea!....Bring it on home to me...yea...yea....
un monstruo, un fuera de serie q decir d Van Morrison, todos los calificativos se han dicho ya, para mí un talento sin igual. monstruo d la música internacional
Long Live Sir Van Morrison
🇮🇪🗡
imagine a life so low that you would give this a thumbs down. Pray for them.
Love the music of Van Morrison ♥️♥️🎤🎸♥️🌟♥️🌟♥️🌟♥️🌟⭐️💫
A masterclass of musicianship in my humble opinion..an album I didn't start listening to until the late 80s but still enjoy, I heard or raad somewhere that he got a bunch of session musicians together explained what he wanted and the album was cut in 3 days, I guess someone out there will correct me if its not true..peace out.
Magnificent Van Morrison ☘️☘️☘️
What started as imitation became unique. That is what we all should try to do with what is good.
Best by far 🦅🐎🦌🦘🥂❤️
MOO DIEU PROTEGE VAN ET PERMET MOI DE REGArder son concert un jour
Many people are complaining he's not singing the lyrics clearly He seems to be more focused on how the phrasing works with the music. I like what he's doing. , I've heard the studio version a million times so I know the lyrics .
I agree. Not about diction, about musicality of the voice.
+Tommy Haynes yep...sounds freakin great to me
Van knows exactly what he's doing yea and he knows he can get away with mumbling some of the words mo matter what he's gonna do his own thing he's a poet and a Musical Genius!
Yeh...he's not even wanting to clean up his diction. He's an instrument
It's almost like 'scat singing' where the human voice becomes an instrument. Van does it very well.
First time i heard Astral Weeks, i was having a few beers and the beers made me feel good
Nice lighting!
Much love ❤️

If I ventured in the slipstream
Between the viaducts of your dream
Where immobile steel rims crack
And the ditch in the back roads stop
Could you find me?
Would you kiss-a my eyes?
To lay me down
In silence easy
To be born again
To be born again
From the far side of the ocean
If I put the wheels in motion
And I stand with my arms behind me
And I'm pushin' on the door
Could you find me?
Would you kiss-a my eyes?
To lay me down
In silence easy
To be born again
To be born again
There you go
Standin' with the look of avarice
Talkin' to Huddie Ledbetter
Showin' pictures on the wall
Whisperin' in the hall
And pointin' a finger at me
There you go, there you go
Standin' in the sun darlin'
With your arms behind you
And your eyes before
There you go
Takin' good care of your boy
Seein' that he's got clean clothes
Puttin' on his little red shoes
I see you know he's got clean clothes
A-puttin' on his little red shoes
A-pointin' a finger at me
And here I am
Standing in your sad arrest
Trying to do my very best
Lookin' straight at you
Comin' through, darlin'
Yeah, yeah, yeah
If I ventured in the slipstream
Between the viaducts of your dreams
Where immobile steel rims crack
And the ditch in the back roads stop
Could you find me
Would you kiss-a my eyes
Lay me down
In silence easy
To be born again
To be born again
To be born again
In another world
In another world
In another time
Got a home on high
Ain't nothing but a stranger in this world
I'm nothing but a stranger in this world
I got a home on high
In another land
So far away
So far away
Way up in the heaven
Way up in the heaven
Way up in the heaven
Way up in the heaven
In another time
In another place
In another time
In another place
Way up in the heaven
Way up in the heaven
We are goin' up to heaven
We are goin' to heaven
In another time
In another place
In another time
In another place
In another face

I hope we are all so lucky to have someone we would wish to find in another lifetime, or a million lifetimes.
Every meeting of our face to the sun reminds us, they are out there and we must journey on, for we have promises to keep.
I will find you.
just perfect..
You know, it's not perfect. It's a little discombobulated at times. I wore out this song from the original album. The others I wasn't real fond of. Till these videos appeared on youtube.
Van often strives for something he doesn't quite reach...in his live performances. But......
Van''s stuff holds me like no other.
His striving is more enjoyable..to me..
Than everybody else's perfection.
Thank you, George.
Born again???
More like resurrected.
Every time.
Superbe.
I believe Ive transcended
Excellence.
Bury me with Astralweeks.

back to the roots 👍
I guess I've heard the album version 500 times, more than any other song. It never fails to takes me to the most profound place, sometimes slightly sad, always just so deep and solitary. There is no song in the world that compares to it. This version is great, although the last three minutes seem superfluous. I've tried to understand how a person could be like Van in this song, but I can't.
true, last 3 mins superfluous, also don't like that lead acoustic guitar, distracts from Van and the words, a profound song indeed
@@ryanjsimpson Yo mama superfluous.
For the time being if there is one record to take down to the grave, during the waiting, this is the one for me. And do not ask me to explain why. If I could, it would not be.
Indeed!
Per Kurowski I played it at my dad's funeral when I was a teenager. Some things are beyond explanation. The whole album but especially this song make the very notion of existing seem like such a terribly exciting adventure. I believe we are transcending.
LIFE IS WORTH LIVING!
It ain't why...
Wow, just... wow
i like this
My brother jammed on the flute with Van at the Casablanca Club Cardiff.
casi diez minutos de excelencia...
the instruments dance and the players express harmony and a great love for life and rebirth. Pure ecstatic joy
