I am one of your students from True Fire. I have completed 2 full lessons. You showed me how to incorporate blues into Jazz/Blues changes. Thank you.... You're a great instructor.
A guitarists, guitarist...that's Frank Vignola! A class act that is truly a master of the guitar. Such technique, skill and professionalism. I wish I could have had a teacher like him when I was learning to play. Thanks for the great videos Frank...you're the man!!! And a big shout out for your sideman! You guys kick butt!
A "Fantasie" on "Tico Tico..." Vignola and Raniolo have to be the greatest guitar duo performing today... I can't imagine another regular working unit that could equal these two. "Chops" are worthless without "Musicality," and these guys have both. (Vignola's effortless precision never fails to stun me.) I was introduced to the work of these gents through one of my students, who actually knows them, and my listening-life has been enriched as a result.
Beautiful performance. I remember when Frank came and gave a master class at Winthrop University and he was phenomenal in performance and teaching. Please come back again!
I'll just say it - I believe Frank Vignola is the greatest player on the planet!! I mean that, but you should also see the other video where Vinnie takes the lead on Tico Tico...it's astounding, too!
Sadly Jazz sales have declined drastically the past decade - it is by far the least popular genre in the US. It is a challenge to find jazz stations on the radio (and often they are smooth jazz) - and because young people aren't getting exposed, fewer and fewer people become active listeners. If it weren't for TH-cam a lot of great instrumentalists like Vignola and Raniolo would have even less recognition.
Saw him tonight at a small acoustic /folk venue in Ct where I volunteer. One of the best I've seen. Up there with Tommy E. He had the rythum guy, and a bass player who once accompanied Les Paul. Sorry I forgot their names. I'll never forget that performance. Funny guy also, stopped mid song to pose for a photo.
Actually the original is not Paco's, although his undenied tallent in any song he plays. "Tico Tico no Fubá" is a brazilian song, the genre we call it "choro" in here. The composer name is Zequinha de Abreu and it is from circa 1917. Made famous by people like Carmen Miranda back in the day. This video is of course a different version, with other songs in it, ands it's great as well. But the original is not Paco's. :P
It's a Thorell FV Studio model, built by Ryan Thorell. Frank uses La Bella Nickel plated round wound EL-JL 12-52 strings. At least that's what he said in an online interview.
Yeah, and i actually 'stole' a good number of the licks he taught in those lessons. Great musician. Even subscribed to Truefire for a few months so I could have unlimited access to their lessons. Good stuff. Wish I had the time and talent to make better use of the material, heh.
Beautiful play of this Brazilian music standard. I would love to know which Brazilian composers Mr. Frank Vignola knows! The Choro Music has beautiful pieces, played by classical guitarists too.

Vinny Raniolo. A superb guitarist in his own right.
As the years roll by I never get tired of hearing and watching this, this performance should be in the guitar section of the Smithsonian 🎶
Guitar playing of this caliber just leaves you speechless. Masters of the instrument.
What a showman too!! I love to hear Frank play anything!! He is pure fire!!
This guy has never gotten nearly enough credit for being an awesome player and teacher....
+Paul B Not in my book!
Those who know - know !
Saw him live and he is awesome...
Listen to Paco De Lucia: th-cam.com/video/k6Nw0Hm_wTM/w-d-xo.html
I agree that Paco was amazing too Tino, but everybody knows who he is already...
this is incredible. I've probably contributed to at least half of these views :D
Some beautiful guys still make this Earth livable ! Salute !
A "Fantasie" on "Tico Tico..."

Saw these guys in concert last evening - fabulous, brilliant!
I never imagined in my life that I would ever hear someone transition Tico Tico into Stairway to Heaven (3:52). Pretty cool.

So creative and out of the box they are amazing
I'm sorry, I will never get to this level. This is the guitar mafia 😅😅😅.
Excelente interpretación, con mucho ritmo, pero sin exageraciones. Congratulaciones para estos 2 maestros.
Beautiful performance. I remember when Frank came and gave a master class at Winthrop University and he was phenomenal in performance and teaching. Please come back again!
BRUTAL, unos MAESTROS

Both are excellent musicians and deserve more recognition

FANTASTIC!!!
Grande facilità, grande musicalità, grande eleganza !
And the rhythm guitarist is absolutely sick, too.
that's Vinny Raniolo, the best guy to go with Frank!
@@wolfgangenochhsu2273 No argument there!
@@JTM1809 I love them playing together, their playing isn't just neat, their playing makes me smile!

Probably Gary Mazzaroppi - one heck of a double bass player. And if you think Vinny Raniolo is just a rhythm guitarist, you are sorely mistaken!
Yes the stairway to heaven tune added!
I know! Isn't that f'in awesome?
Wonderful. 👏👏👏👍
Such a wonderful player and TEACHER... and looks like the nicest person in the world...

Beautiful play of this Brazilian music standard.

Why no mention of Vinny Raniolo in the title credit ?
BUT ---- just how much REAL beauty is there in this --- very little -- an exercise at best .
I like it. It's fun, and sometimes I just want to feel happy.
Beauty is where you find it. Either way, I want his guitar!!
