Many years after the bloody turf war that ushered in an uneasy era of peace in Hong Kong’s underworld, the notorious Kowloon Walled City serves as a fortified, lawless safe haven for gangs and refugees alike. But when a skilled underground fighter runs afoul of the most feared Triad boss in Hong Kong, a bounty is placed on his head despite his connections to the leader of the infamous enclave. As his pursuers violate the tenuous territorial truce to exact their vengeance, the fallout reignites old grudges, bringing decades of building tension to a brutal, bloody boiling point.
Directed by: Soi Cheang
Cast: Louis Koo, Raymond Lam, Terrance Lau, Philip Ng, Tony Wu Tsz Tung, German Cheung, Richie Jen, Wong Tak Pun Kenny, Fish Liew, Chu Pak Hong, Cecilia Choi, Lau Wai Ming, Aaron Kwok, & Sammo Hung

For those complaining the movie being too 'cg' and not grounded... it's base on a Hong Kong comic City of Darkness (九龙城寨), Hong Kong comics are usually Wuxia in nature and rarely ever grounded.
I tend to prefer this over grounded; the action shows how far the actors trained to exert their skills.
yea i'd say the comic is even more over the top
thats what gives it soul.. used to watch kung fu hustle, cgi was the best part lmfao
I thought this seemed familiar
about as grounded as being on wires can be
“You had me at ‘Hello’”
not "Hello" it's "Hallou" 😂
Man chose violence
You had me at Nihao.
You had me at Sammo
what if your father slammed you into a concrete wall @ 1:13 sending you into a coma for the better of 50 yrs ?
Miss these kind of movies!! Martial Arts movies need a comeback
There will never be a comeback of kung fu movies. They were only popular because of the mystery that surrounded them. Now the mystery is gone; the public knows kung fu is unrealistic, so more grounded options are more popular nowadays. Now, you have a small fan base, mostly guys who watched these types of movies when they were kids.
@@2lip663 naw we don't watch kung fu movies for the realism, we watch em for the spectacles and insane choreography. If ppl wanted realism, movies like John Wick wouldn't be popular.
I do miss the awful dubbing
@@2lip663 im part of that fan base thats so true
@@2lip663 The movie became number one box office of all time in HK (in a declining HK movie industry/cinema). It may spark a come back in Asia and thats probably good enough.
My cousin is Philip Ng (he's the one in the thumbnail/preview image); so proud and excited! The film's a hit in HK and Mainland China and I'm so glad it's finally coming here too.
Loved the way your cousin said "Hello!". 😀
Your cousin is OP, dude is immune to all physical damage
He looks like young Aaron Kwok
He's just a menacing joy to watch
i knew it. all asian people are related
did bro just catch a sword with his mouth, then proceed to break the blade?
DEFINITELY WATCHING THIS!
one punch man reference which itself was a berserk reference
Yeah 🔥
He did not skip neck day
that's when i said I stop and watching this
opm and majima
so happy they still make this kind of movies
As long as the films don't include political positions, the Hong Kong productions should be fine
Yeah! Me too! really love old fashion movie of 80's 90's
It's almost, ALMOST as if Kung Fu Hustle had a sequel.
Yep
I wish. 👍
definitely better than that! 👍👍👍
I love both films but they are not really comparable. Kung Fu Hustle is an action comedy, while this movie has very little/almost no humor at all.
Nah. This movie was so good
Sammo Hung and Louis Koo? hype
Si sammo est là, YES...
They still got the legend aura hahahaha
@@szewei85 Jimmy from Triad Election I&II. The man.
Don't forget about Aaron Kwok
He missed donien
I was lucky to see this film at the 77th Cannes film festival and it was Amazing!! I loved it! Probably the best film I’ve seen at the festival!
Good to know. Thanks.
was it better than raging fire with donnie yen I might go watch it tomorrow
@@frankyng4159 yes I agree and I love Donnie yen! You will love it
Sammo Hung!!!.... I'm sold.
It's like a blend of The Raid with Hong Kong-style action that's set in a real life criminal underworld!
"Real life", lol...that's extremely cartoonish...
@@Prisoner_ksc2-303 cartoonish in a kung fu way but the Kowloon Walled City was a real place.
@@robwalsh9843was... Hasn't been for a long time
lmao
real life criminals with a man that brake you an arm and then catch back his sigarette without make it fall... humm..
Louis koo is really headlining like every major HK movies in the last decade or so … respect.
Also be supporting new directors and screenwriters...like true hero
I remembers back in the day he used to be a tv actor for TVB... Man, long time ago.
Haha interesting He does look like the next Chow Yun Fatt always headlining the cinemas without fail
Most people in the western culture will only see this film as an action film, but the star of the movie isn't the fight scenes... it is the backdrop known as the "Kowloon Walled City" and it's rich depth and history. The movie is also a piece of art that pays homage to the metaphoric dying city that is Hong Kong to be captured as a time capsule.
Buuuuuuuut it’s ALSO A REALLY BADASS ACTION FLICK!!
Kowloon Walled City is not even real!!! cant be excited for fictional city
This movie did not disappoint! Loved it so much I went to watch it 3 more times within a week 😁
You should also check Customs Frontline action is spectacular haha Nick Tse (from Donnie action vehicle Raging Fire) and the God Father of cantopop himself Jacky Cheung
Same, I’ve watched it 5 times in the cinema here in HK 😂😂
Kung-Fu Hustle meets Once upon a Time in China meets Yakuza videogame.
add Crank to taste
Sleeping Dogs.
You mean The Raid & The Raid 2 😂🤣😭
Meets Fist Of the Northstar
Stop bringing up Japan this is China
Looks like Kung fu hustle mixed with the raid. Shut up and take my money already!
you take the words from my mouth
lol
A recreation of Walled City? Count me in!!
This is the first movie I have been excited for in years.
BRUH ME TOO
Goosebumps...this is oldschool cinema...they don't make them no more.
Man, this film was finally released in Western lands. I watched it two weeks ago, and man, what a great movie. One of the best films of its kind I've ever seen in my life. I'm dying to watch it with subtitles or dubbed in Portuguese (Brazil).
Please get a raise to the staff who made this Trailer. It's far better than Mandarin version
so happy to see a Cantonese speaking film its been a while for me
Say what you will about the chinese media industry. They know how to make martial arts action movies.
I think this is a hong kong movie.
@@shanjida8353 It is, but it does receive partial funding from mainland China, so it doesn't really count as an old school HK movie production.
However, Kenji Tanigaki (Donnie Yen's protegée), the action director and fight choreographer for this, is currently directing a HK-only funded movie called The Furious over in Thailand, starring Joe Taslim and Yaya Ruhian among others. So they're not subject to any kind of restriction that mainland China may have.
This is a Hong Kong movie.
Hong Kong stunt team, Hong Kong actors, Hong Kong location, Hong Kong movie production.
100%
Okay they had me when the guy caught the sword with his teeth and broke it lmao I can't wait to see this 🤣.
Sammo Hung usta varsa, Hong Kong sineması özüne dönmüştür 🤙
The legend is there Mister Sammo Hung!
Highly recommend~ I had already watched three times in HK
Bruhhh, SAMMO HONG... LEGENDARY! I will be gong to see this kick up! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Remember when you gathered your action figures and made yourself an action movie? This is it. I love it.
One of the best movie I have watched this year! Proud of HK Films!
You had me at "bone crunching". Looks like I might have a new contender for favorite movie. LOL
Miss these kinds of movies!! need a comeback, what an amazing action
A lot of Hongkongers watched 3 to 10+ times in the cinemas.
The demolished Walled City itself & this film are irreplaceable legends in Hong Kong.
This movie was made especially for me. I will be watching this and practicing the moves on my kids!
Was literally just thinking how Hong Kong Kung Fu movies had gone to shit and they drop this absolute gem of a trailer, looks amazing, can't wait.
Lousi koui may best favorite actor
You can't deny the performance of Sammo Hung, even at his age! Also, it is great to see Louis Koo again.
The last action movie I watched him in was "Paradox." If you haven't watched it, make sure you do!
Caught a sword in his mouth and broke it?
We'll be there no matter what.
Brings a smile to my face seeing my boy Sammo still in action
Pls go watch it guys, it's too good to miss. Living in HK now and lemme tell u, I watched it four times already. Plan to do it one last time before it gets taken off. It's THAT good.
It's like the first time I glimpsed a John Woo film...x20!
Love all these kinds of action packed movies. Really love that they still make these kinds of movies. ✊️👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Philip Ng looks so different in this!😄Long hair and glasses on. Guys he’s the same actor who played Bruce Lee in the film birth of the dragon! This looks pretty fantastic to me!! 👏👏🧨🔥💥
Sammo!!!!
I thought there were only two more movies to be excited about this summer, then this drops in my lap.
this movie needs to be in all cinemas worldwide
I don't know if its lack of martial arts movies or if I simply don't know how to look for them, but I miss these great fun action movies from Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Jet Li, Tony Jaa, Donnie Yen, etc.
China looked at Japan and really went “Hey, we are wacky too”
they sold me at the catching the blade with his teeth scene.... wait! ... I wanna see it again....
You had me at Sumo Hung!😍😍
woah, this is crazy.. and they bring all the big names too.. this is like every 90's hongkong movies about gang but mixed with kungfu hustle.. this one gonna be a blast!
This movie is a real masterpiece! As a Hong Konger, I am so proud of it and would like to highly recommend this movie to the world!❤
The material arts are fantastic, the actors are charming, the landscape of Kowloon Walled City is amazing! It’s full of Hong Kong vibes and it reminds Hong Kongers for the good old days.🥲
I have watched this movie in the cinema for 4 times, but still haven’t get tired of it. Everyone must go to enjoy this movie!
Gave me chills back to the 90s.
Good to see Sammo Hung after a long time.
Soi Cheang has been kicking Hong Kong cinema up to a whole new level lately. Last year's Limbo was amazing, now this!
CAN... NOT... WAIT!!! 🤩
Саммо етить Хунг.. легенда.
Драки конечно полный улёт))) надо посмотреть.
the cigarette scene 💥💥
It's like the raid had a baby with kung fu hustle ❤❤
I'm in Australia near Sydney but no cinemas have this coming out?????? I want to see this on the big screen!
😅it already released in au on may 23
Hong Kong action with a hint of District 13. I'm looking forward to this.
Philip ng as the main protagonist I’m definitely gonna watch this !
i've watched it and as it has alr been released in Singapore. Fight scenes was epic !
Oh hell, yeah I’ve been looking for another movie like this since Tony Jaa and Omback
I appreciate movies like that. two hours of action.
this looks actually insane
so next month is release wow !
It's good to see Sammo Hung! He looks good!
they built an entire studio setpiece to mimic the Walled city lol
Saw this in the cinema, one of the best cinema experiences I've ever had. An awesome movie, old school hong kong cinema combined with modern action cinema camera work. Fucking great.
I only learned about the real walled city a few months ago and now it’s the backdrop of a killer Asian-made action flick? I’m in!
This is going to be MY kung fu hustle
I was already sold by the time he appeared, but seeing Sammo Hung sealed the deal for me!
Sammo Hung, kung fu panda returns to the cinema) In Hong Kong, they know how to shoot action movies, add Jackie Chan and the film would be a box office success!
Gotta see this. Reminds me of the 80s and 90s when we used to watch every kung fu flick we could get our hands on.
When does this come out on DVD 📀 in the USA 🇺🇸 and will it be dubbed in English 🏴
Asian Dr Disrespect headbutting the bus window out 😂😂😂
The Legendary Fat Dragon is back!!!
Legendary Sammo Hung still doing his thing! Awesome
Respect SAMMO KAM-BO HUNG one of the elite directors especially in terms of martial arts choreography & stunts, he’s just amazing.
is amazing that a hk movie actually speak CANTONESE!!!! no betrayal here
The revival of HK's martial arts movie?? Hopefully so.
Man... I've been needing something like this since Kung-Fu Hustle.
This is lit, the classic hand to hand combat we loved as kids
Hong Kong Cinema is a joy to watch. It’s wild that China still hasn’t completely taken over Hong Kong yet. They are doing it slowly though
This is king fu hustle levels of hands being thrown,I’m in
I need this movie
I would love to see this on the biggest screen possible; take my money! 😭🙌🏾💸
Sammo Hung back in action. I can't wait.... :)
Hollywood can never make action like this Ever.
"Hello"😂 🥊
You know you are old and have seen so many Jackie Chan movies when you see someone show up using a fighting style you instantly recognize as Sammo Hung's fighting style and it is him.
Raid for redemption and kung fu hustle had a baby ❤❤❤❤❤😊

Oh my god, After long time I saw one of the best trailer of Typical Hong kong movie.. just remind me of real action which I believe was missing from long time..
I loved the manhua version of this story, even though I never found translated versions of the last few chapters. Can't wait to check out the movie version.
Sammo Hung in this, watching is a must.
We all needed a movie set in Kowloon
I feel like I'm watching a South Indian movies where Laws of Physics and Gravity doesn't exist😂
