We run the SC16 with rapid split and positive stop. I’d say it’s a very nice upgrade if you can find one to rent. They definitely pile up the firewood in a hurry.
Nice work. Like you say definitely gonna have to do some resplitting. How much does the processor cost per hour. You should take the top of one of your ibc bladders and put under the conveyor to catch all the scraps and put a gladder in place to catch all the daw dust. Should help with clean up. Nice work definitely getting some nice piles of firewood.
Wow great production today. Before you know it you'll be out of logs. I think the way you're going with that machine you'll hit that year goal in no time. Get them logs a rolling again before the tree cutting stops for summer. Nows the time to load them up. Great job and didn't even break a sweat and much safer production. Wish they had machines like this when I was doing it. Lol
.. none of the rental fleets show any band mill rentals so I think its cool that these beast processors are available thats a six figure machine I guess I have seen a Dyna on display B4 about 1/2 that size but still a major purchase and handy rental Thanks ..!
When you load the logs is it possible to use the last log to knock the wood pile down some. Hold the log in you grapple use the end of a log to push the top off. Just a taught.
I’d consider renting a dyna, but a couple things holding me back. Would love to hear your comments: 1. I don’t have perfect poles. Some logs are 20-28” diameter or uglier tree service logs. My area has an sc15 rental available. 2. My customers like smaller splits. 2”x3” at the largest. I’ve not seen many processors produce that except maybe the japa perfect split. What is the resplit pain? Makes me want to just use my box wedge on commercial splitter instead of renting a dyna.
I also like smaller splits, so there are some concessions here renting the Dyna to increase output and reduce manual labor. The processor cranked out a lot of wood in a short amount of time. For me to hand cut/split 40 cords of logs would have taken many weeks of work. Unfortunately, much of the wood produced from the processor will need to be resplit, but I feel I can do that at my leisure. If you don't have a lot of good/straight wood, I wouldn't bother with a processor. It'll just be a frustrating experience. Every knot and nub needs to be cut pretty flush or it gets hung up. If a tree is bowed, it won't move straight through, or it won't get cut straight (which might jam up the splitter wedge). Of my 40+cords of logs I probably have 2 cords set aside that I didn't bother sending through that I'll have to hand cut/split.
It sucks that that machine is not mor accurate in length. Too bad you didn’t check that before you cut and split so much. I’m thinking that length is critical to most people that burn in a wood stove. I think I would set that “guess bar thing” they have on that machine to getting 16” or under. If I was buying splits from you I would have to reject anything over 17”. Hope you can get better control of the lengths.
most of my customers are fireplace/fire pit people so it won't matter as much, but it will matter for bundles. I'm considering starting to do bags rather than wrap which I think are more forgiving with the cut length.
.. ??... looks like you have made more work for yourself swinging the unit side to side whne you could have it hooked up to move forward in a straight line and make a better pile and everything ..?... or not IDK ..?!!
I dont know if theres any extra work here the way I did it, but I was trying to keep it all in as small an area as possible because I don't have much flat space to set the processor up, so there wasn't a large area to just move the processor forward as you'd imagine.
... ive been wondering since the unit is a very expensive rental if the electrical issue was due to attempted tampering by users ..? ... and not normal wear and tear ..? @@WoodsTreeFarm

I'm glad to see the rental company got you back up and running 😊 Awesome production day 👍
If I were buying firewood I would rather have it 1” short if to long it may not fit in stove 😊

this one was $475/day. thanks for the ideas using totes. have a great day
My question is, after all said and done, would you ado it again?
I'll definitely follow up with that. It'll partially depend on how difficult the cleanup and Resplitting work is.
Moving the guide stick back about an inch would take care of the length issue. That's what I did when I rented one!
Nice work Phil. Good to get a full day on her. Take care.

Do you use your sawdust under your trees! I heard it was great for that?

PHIL, Do they have a RENTAL model that has a positive stop to give consistent length cuts? Tim in northern TN

no evidence of tampering i could see. There were relays that were replaced and electrical connections cleaned and it worked as expected after that
