They can do other things like meeting foreign leaders on behalf of the US. But their power overall is quite limited. If you disagree, please cite sources on what the VP is allowed to do.

Harris called for more punitive measures for people crossing the border illegally, following an asylum ban for those entering illegally, a move Biden took this year that has sharply reduced illegal crossings.
"I will take further action to keep the border closed between ports of entry. Those who cross our borders unlawfully will be apprehended and removed and barred from re-entering for five years," Harris said.
"We will pursue more severe criminal charges against repeat violators, and if someone does not make an asylum request at a legal point of entry and instead crosses our border unlawfully, they will be barred from receiving asylum," she said.
She is courting the more moderate voters, so it is likely that her stance on immigration will be far stricter, especially as a majority of voters (58%?) have expressed wanting stricter measures on immigration.

Nate Silver, I think, even stated not that long ago that people who lean left are more eager to do these types of polls which is why, I think, many of them seem to favor left leaning policies, at least on the surface.

I don't get this: 6 months ago and overall, Trump was polling higher than Biden and Harris was waaaay lower in (likability?) polls. Fast forward to Biden dropping out, now Harris is almost suddenly on par with Trump?

I live in Wayne County Mich, and there are a lot more Trump signs than harris signs.
Even one Harris sign indicates you are living next door to someone devoid if reason. There are alternatives to Trump but Harris is not one of them.

AZ and GA cheated. In AZ Katie Hobbs was in control of the election AND she was running for Governor (conflict of interest). There were chsin of custody issues, problems with voting machines and size of ballots. GA had similar issues with ballots fed through tabulators multiple times. During counting there was supposedly a break in amain water pipe. People were told to go home . Vote counts would resume the next day. The water issue was an overflowing toilet. Part of the counters stayed behind and completed the count. It is possible AZ and GA can have shenanigans again.
Tell that to Philly, Pittsburgh, and Vegas, the vote blue no matter who folks.

I’m a 49 year old registered independent in PA. I voted for the dems all my life. I voted for Hillary in 2016 and Biden in 2020. I am not going to be voting for Harris in 2024. I’m over the dems. They’re no better than the GOP. My wife feels the same way and so do a few of our friends who have all voted dem in the past, especially against trump. We’re all votes that Harris will not have that Biden had 4 years ago. None of us were polled.

Harding effect" which, basically, explains that Americans do not vote based on cognitive points but on how they "feel" about a candidate. On top of this, Consider using the media to sensor the political opposition. Work with social media to sensor unfavorable information and encourage favorable. And of course, mail-in voting in itself is the greatest threat to democracy. I could easily get my hands on dozens of ballots from friends and family and have them sign them over to me. There are more controls on a local 50/50 raffle at a bar than the election of the president of the united states by allowing mail in voting.

That was the most coherent part of his answer. It is also not accurate. Over the course of 2024, Biden polled steadily worse against Trump. In the immediate aftermath of his disastrous June debate performance, Biden dropped to six points behind Trump in national polling.
But even before the dreaded debate, the polls showed Trump pulling away from Biden. As far back as November 2023, some polls showed Trump edging out Biden in the key swing states; importantly, these polls also showed Biden underperforming Trump relative to other Democrats, including Vice President Kamala Harris. His favorability ratings had also collapsed since the 2022 midterms.
A year ago, Biden could credibly claim that the polls showed him "within range," given significant uncertainties. By the time Biden's campaign was hurtling toward its ignoble end, this was no longer true. Biden was going to lose.
Later during the conservation on The View, Goldberg remarked that while she supported the outcome, she did not approve of the messy, public manner in which Democratic elites ejected Biden. But the messy exit was made necessary due to Biden's own actions: his stubborn refusal to admit that he had no path to reelection.
It's fine for the ladies of The View to treat the president with kindness and respect. But as with the ABC presidential debate between Trump and Harris, it's telling that prominent Democrats can get away much more easily with statements that are simply untrue.
