Yes, I had seen her comments! It feels good to see my own thoughts confirmed. I understand how that small tease, that was a fleeting thought from the books, would be a compelling thing to pull into the show. I still believe that when we see the other side of this revelation, we will get back to sense. (In the books Ian does the digging, but in the show LJG could be the one since he has more power and connections).
I have really enjoyed your episode reviews and all the book knowledge you bring. The season finale left me perplexed at the direction it took. I’ve heard that the show ending was going to be different from book 10. But I’m wondering now if at the end of season 8 we are going to be left feeling unsatisfied and disappointed.
Well, disappointment is always a possibility. But I truly don't see them going that far away from being reasonable. They may not do exactly what Diana will (I also doubt she will tell them every little thing, even if they asked), but even the craziest they've ever gone off track... I don't recall anything that truly ruined the show for me. And there were some rough moments in Season 4 and 5 for me. Haha! So I will think positively at this point!
@@TheBookRefuge Diana did say that they ended the show in a way that she thinks the audience will like & that it is different than the ending will be for Book 10. When she said that, I was relieved. I love the show & books equally on their own merits.

Raymond might have taken the baby to a future time where medicine is advanced enough to help the baby mature and survive?? Same when Briana took her kid to the future for the operation...
I find it extremely unlikely. She held the dead child for a whole day before he ever arrived. And she describes the baby to Jamie. No eyelashes ot fingernails. Very premature. 🤷♀️ He came later when she was dying.
Ok, this is no order, but I want to get all my reactions in. I’m a book reader who hasn’t read the books in a long while, so I simply don’t recall MANY details. Argh. So before I forget, I LOVED in the book that Jamie explained to William about his SISTER’s method of opening a locked window! And then William realizes BRIANNA is his sister. I’m sooo glad that was on the show! Secondly, in the books, much of this takes place in Savannah, Georgia…but I no longer remember WHY all the characters reside THERE (and EVERYONE lives there, from Lord John and his brother, Hal, Percy, Amaranth us, Jamie, Claire, Fergus and family, Ian and Rachel, Brianna and family, and even Jane and Fanny etc.), . I think the show makes more sense for this all to be in NJ. I also liked that the Rollo death scene was like the book. I admit I enjoyed the addition of Master Raymond and the new plot direction about Faith and her girls. It was only SLIGHTLY implied in the book. I think there are explanations. For starters, the song was a 1907 music hall song and was covered by many musicians. Claire only sang a piece of it….which Fanny ALSO does. Babies DO have recollections of music! There was a classical cellist who was practicing a particular piece while pregnant and her baby came out of the womb 1:09:05 humming it. This was years ago, but it made news. Hey Jenn! I have loved watching you recap and review all of season 7! I'm one of those people that found you bc of Outlander and stayed for the romance book recs🥰 I was wondering if you have any recommendations for other time travel books? Also will you be reviewing Blood of my blood when it comes out?💜
I will absolutely be reviewing Blood of My Blood! I honestly, truly dislike time travel books. Hahaha! Outlander is the golden exception for me. haha! So sadly, I don't think I'll be making a rec video anytime soon. Unfortunately.
I read something from Diana where she said that she had toyed with the idea of a graphic novel about what if Master Raymond had saved Faith, but she didn’t write it. She told Matt Roberts about it and he liked it & decided to “run with it”. As for how she knows the song from 1900’s, Master Raymond is definitely a time traveler & he could have taken faith to the future when she was small. Do you think they will have the storyline about Cunningham trying to take down Jamie? And his mother, Elspeth? That is a huge thing in book 9.
I will be rereading book 9 very soon, so maybe I'll have more of an opinion then. I don't remember either of those characters'names currently. Haha! I need a refresher.
My first thought was that Master Raymond took the baby through time to be raised by someone else because he some how knew what Claire's future held. What if Claires parents didn't die. What if Claires mom is in a different time and Master Raymond brings the baby to her to raise in colonial times of America. Anything is possible. I have always had the feeling that Master Raymond is playing around with time and his relations through time.
Maybe! We shall see what info Blood of My Blood brings to the table. I think Master Raymond might not even be asking forgiveness for something to do with Faith. It could have to do with her parents. And he knows when she finds out what he's done, she'll blame him. Anything is possible when they break from the books. I'm as blind as anyone else.
I thought maybe he took Faith away, too -- but then he'd have to have put someone else's dead baby into Claire's arms -- and that would be quite the switch-a-roo! Plus fool the nuns somehow.
As a book reader the Faith stuff came out of nowhere. It made for a good cliffhanger but i'm pretty sure they'll shut it down in the next season. You know i cried more about Rollo than about Jane. Maybe because we got a hint in the start of the episode with the trigger warning. With Rollo they really milked it right? Getting those close up shots of Rollo with his eyes open. And then Ian sobbing... I also liked the Claire and Denny moment when she told him how well he did. And i loved how Jamie took care of Claire. We see more of Claire taking care of him usually. Will you do videos for Blood of my blood too Jenn? At least we'll have that show until season 8....
Kristen Atherton is FANTASTIC as a Narrator! Listen to her narrate "Never Rescue a Rogue: A Novel (The Merriwell Sisters Book 2)" by Virginia Heath. Kristen will be great in the Audiobooks for Outlander! I love Davina Porter, but she is retired. It would be nice to have dual narrators like maybe Kristen to do the female characters and Jeff Woodman or Will Watt to do the male characters. I love Jeff Woodman's narration of Lord John Gray. I'm not sure what the show will do about the "Faith" cliffhanger. I think they might make it that Jamie convinces Claire that it's just a coincidence, but if it is really the way they are going, I'm really interested to see how they are going to explain it. Diana did give the show some of the story for Book 10 that they could use if they wanted to & she did say that she was satisfied with how they ended it & that it won't be the same way as the ending for the books. I think we'll get Dottie, Hal, and Ben in S8. Joey Phillips (Denzel) did allude to Denzel having a love interest which would be Dottie. Those 3 characters are important to Lord John's storyline in Bees which is the main book that S8 will focus on and Hal did mention Ben in his discussion with LJ Ep 14. And Fergus & Marsali & kids will be in S8, too, so that's good! I also think that we'll see Jenny come to the Ridge in S8 and meet Roger & Bree "again" and really see that Claire is telling the truth about time travel. She'll probably see Buck again, too, since Buck will be in S8. Maybe Buck comes to stay on the Ridge. Looking forward to it, but at the same time, I don't want it to end!
@@vickitoth5165 did Joey Phillips say that he is in s8? I was kind of thinking that he won’t be. Also, was Dottie cast? I don’t see why they would have them in it. They can do the LJG and William’s story without them. They are barely in Bees. I hope that we get Hal though
I would be so happy if Buck comes to the Ridge! Legit, I'd be so cool with that. I'm so glad many characters are coming to the Ridge. If you think about it, we need to repopulate out there. We lost the Bugs, the Christies, and a few others. SO bring them all over!
I think its all about Claire and Jamie's bloodline continuing. Yes, Faith may be dead now, but the fact that she MAY have lived and had children , one of which was reunited with Jamie and Claire WAS the point the show's ending was trying to make.
well maybe... or it's just a cliffhanger and a cheap ploy of Hollywood to have people speculating for months and months we were getting too comfortable with everything being so book accurate. hahaha!
When the subject of Faith as Jane and Fanny's mother came up in the books, i had a sneaking suspicion that there had to be a connection to Claire. Didn't Jane have the same amber-colored eyes as Claire? I just can't believe that Diana would work this Faith character into the story if there wasn't going to be some kind of connection to Claire and Jamie 🤷
We shall see! Diana Herself has said that nothing connecting to faith on the show is what's in the book. I haven't seen her lie in interviews about what she's going to do.
I thought it was an interesting choice to include Faith maybe living. With one season left, surprised we are bringing in this storyline. Agreed, the William and Jane relationship is weird now😮
Yes, but she didn't open up his guts and poke around while he was alive. she reset his finger bone and sewed it up. She's also stuck needles into his decaying leg.. but.. Still not quite the same thing as seeing someone's insides in that way. So I think she might see that differently. Denny has never had to do that til a loved one yet. It's a lot for him.
@@TheBookRefuge Yes, but it's very difficult to do that in a TV show & be able to make the audience understand what she says. So, they didn't give her that speech impediment.
I was distracted when Claire was laying in bed and recovering, and all she had was that flimsy nightgown, costume design wise, why wouldn't they at least have a shawl Around her shoulders,? I know it's kind of a silly minor thing. But I was so distracted when she's, just coming out of being nearly dead and then cuddles up to him. Beautiful, but skeptical.put something on those shoulders.
I don't personally theorize that. I honestly don't think there is a connection at all. I think it's wishful thinking for Claire, and will be quickly dispelled. It's also possible that Master Raymond is asking forgiveness for something that has nothing to do with Faith... but when Claire dreams of him, and then hears that song... she makes that leap.
@TheBookRefuge I'm pretty sure that leap was on purpose. I'm convinced that Frances and Jane is Claire and Jamie's granddaughters. There's literally no other explanation.
This was a near perfect episode until the last few minutes. So close and then they completely jumped the rails. Talk about playing your audience for…what? Buzz? Talk? Maybe it’s another bait and switch, like 511, when they did the “Roger/Brianna travel back through the stones”, NOT! Oy Vey! 🤦🏻♀️
Haha! We don't talk about Journeycake, Lisa. JK, but for real. When I pull my head back a bit, I understand why they want to keep us guessing... and you say, "just for buzz"... but Outlander truly has had downhill rating for a long time now. Getting buzz and getting people hyped and talking about both the final season AND Blood of My Blood isn't anything to sneeze at... it's no fun to feel jerked around but they still got to play the Hollywood game to a certain extent. The way they ended this season... it's already got people spinning like mad. It annoys me slightly because I feel like I'm in for months of talking people off a ledge about Faith, but I also can tip my glass and say well played. I was SO SURE about where this season was going to end. Just took it for granted actually. And they had me on the edge of my seat right at the end, even if i was a bit mad in the moment. Anyway, THIS ended up longer than I meant it too. haha! Thanks for watching, Lisa, you rock!

@@jillshestokas2237 I was wishing they would cover her up more too. She was so cold from so much blood loss.
Do you think baby still born but being Claire’s gene could baby go back to alive and was then raised
I agree with you as well, I left not very satisfied. I watched it again and still felt the same
I really thought the Faith story line was unwarranted to be honest. We only have one more season it’s probably going to be rushed again.
I loved this episode ❤❤❤ it's very hard to express my feelings at the moment.... ❤😂❤❤❤😢😮😳😭😭😭🥹🥹😝😭🥰😅😂🥹😛😋🥹😭😭🥹😭😭😭🦄🤯😱❤ ❤
