    I have Med surg for my first clinical in my ADN program. How would you rate the clinical rotations for difficulty?
    Also, I’ve been watching you since A&P. You helped me write a case study on COPD 😅❤

    If you get to see a bed side trach/procedure and the physician set up a sterile field and put on her sterile gown, *Don't walk between the physician and the sterile field*
    This one RN pissed off the physician. A student would 100% be kicked out.

      @@ingrid44556 the thing about nursing class is that its more on theory, actually college dont really teach you the actual stuff, thats why theres clinicals.

    So what do you do as a student when you are assigned to a nurse that doesn’t want a student to shadow them? I personally think it will make the student feel like they are walking on pins and needles, and feel very uncomfortable.

    • @TheArmedNurse
      @TheArmedNurse 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Unfortunately, you just gotta truck through it for the time you have to deal with your nurse and be happy when it is over. Most programs will not allow you to request a new nurse to shadow.

    I have been depressed for this last 8 weeks. Our courses are 8weeks long for all programs within the college. I felt like it was disorganized, but did not say anything. They really did not have our clinical experience set up until the course started. I felt like I could not ask my instructor anything, and she seemed to want us to know everything without instruction. I use to love my school and felt like I could trust them until this last 8 weeks.

      Clinical days are separate from lecture/lab days. In my program, we have a lecture day, lab day, and clinical day. All in the same week lol. Clinicals are basically putting what we learned in the classroom into practice. However, you are working under that professor's license and many of them can be very strict (understandably).

    I am currently working on my pre reqs to at least apply for the program at my school and if I take a spring class (a hard class which will be accelerated because the spring semester is so short), I will be able to apply to the program in the fall for next winter. I'm not sure if it is going to work that way but I will see if I'm ready to take the spring class after this upcoming winter semester. I'm kind of scared since I can't verbally speak very well (talking too fast, weird grammar) but I'm gaining more confidence over time and it makes me excited.

      There's no predicting what a patient might do during clinical. They may puke on you, shit/piss the bed, or squirt blood on you if you are taking out their IV. If bodily fluids of any kind bother you then you're entering the wrong field lol

      @winterprincess 2005 During my Fundamental's clinical, we did not do anything with needles. We just bathed residents at the nursing home, assessed them, and occasionally gave them oral medications. I am in Med-Surg now though and actually will be at my first clinical tomorrow at the hospital. From what I've heard, we will be giving injections/starting IVs in Med-Surg.
