Doping bans should have a financial reimbursement element attached to them. There should be a presumption that through cheating you have enriched yourself. Not just in prize money and sponsorship deals but in training grants, physiotherapy services, travelling costs etc. That value should be calculated and the ban should then be for "X" years AND until that sum has been repaid. Anyone who fails to cooperate in the valuation process remain banned until they do. In practice it would be difficult to identify who precisely lost out to the cheating in order to compensate them. However, the money could go to a fund for good athletic causes not the least of which would be support for increased testing. In reality this would probably put paid to most cheats' careers without the need for lifetime bans.
really liked that kind of video where you expressing on how you feel hearing your opinnion is great but tbh idk how many of them athletes are clean specially whith knighton facing zero consiquences for doping mid season
You’ve convinced me that his ban should be much longer. I’m not yet convinced that his results should be disqualified. Since a first and second whereabouts failure is permitted (apparently not seen as a competitive advantage) his results should stand as his deception wasn’t really couched in competitive advantage. However, one could certainly argue that had he been successful is getting the first whereabouts failure overturned, that would give him an additional allowed whereabouts failure that others didn’t receive, which is probably a competitive advantage (especially if doping). I don’t know, maybe his results should be stripped? I hope Jakob isn’t doping. I just couldn’t take it.
If you take a very optimistic view then I see your argument but I think Katir's astronomical rise makes it especially clear that this was not a mistake on his part. Realistically, he was (probably) taking PEDs and missed the testing date on purpose so it would not flag up. From that perspective I think he should be stripped but you make a good point about the official reasoning behind it as the tribunal would have to give him the benefit of the doubt.
You don't get medals taken for wearabout violations. Only if you fail a test. Cause they can't prove you're actually Doping the fans like you can just speculate and make assumptions
I do kind of understand it from an official perspective because they have to assume the best of the athlete. However Katir has done everything possible to make me lose that benefit of the doubt grace - the tampering especially shows so little respect for fair competition. The AIU also recommending his medals be taken indicates what's they think is going on...
@@AdamJansen786 The AIU isn't dumb, they unquestionably know Katir was doping lol. However, most doping cases if you read them in full is just a giant battle of semantics and semi-legal jargon as opposed to actually proving if an athlete doped or not.
@ yeah I think the main thing I have taken away from this situation is the difference between the official and practical line of reasoning. Katir doped, the AIU knows he doped and the tribunal knows he doped but given there is no conclusive proof. They have to assume innocence and only punish him for things at face value.
I agree he should be stripped of his medals for the period in question. In terms of the ban, I think he’s banned up until 2028 whereas if he served his forgery ban in sequence I think that would have taken him up to 2030 which seems more appropriate. In any case I can’t see any future sponsor or other commercial party touch him with a barge pole and so his pro career is probably over anyway.
Yeah its a good point. Practically speaking his name is mud so he probably won't be able to fund his track career. I still find it wrong on principle that he is allowed back in the sport if he wants to though.
Adam you are so underrated, good content, minimal clickbate (unlike trp) correct facts and good takes.
Really appreciate it brother!
I’m totally with you in this video! Great content thanks for posting this! Pretty funny to see Jakob still beating him though.
Yeah all that doping (allegedly) and he's still 2nd best. Thanks for the comment!

Alternate title : Adam being irritated by Jakob appearance for 8 minutes 47 seconds 😂
"everywhere I go I see his face"
Good content 👍
Glad you think so!

7:17 Actually, prisoners DO sometimes get concurrent sentences
Not going to pretend to be an expert on this so I stand corrected on the law front - I think its BS with Katir's situation though.

bros career is over sadly he really had a ton of great to watch races and is so smooth

he just ate some oxtail
if he was american he would get a few thousands and donuts for doping
