I cannot put into words how good this was. I’ve never had this with a series before but I cannot stop thinking about it. Utterly utterly staggeringly amazing.

As a 57 year old , thoroughly enjoyed it, got caught up in the emotion as a lot of people mentioned. However, it also filled me with a deep sadness, that this burning intense excitement of discovering young love for the first time is but a distant memory and a once in a lifetime thing.

You see Daisy, you should drop that utterly inept and amateurish Varey. The Daily Mail headline of 27 Jan 2021, says it all. It reads: Paul Mescal insists 'there wasn't a huge amount of acting going on' in his realistic sex scenes with Normal People co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones because he 'liked her very much' The ‘chemistry wasn’t just superb acting, it was real! He continues: You know when you have "it",' of having chemistry with his scene partner. 'I knew when I was with Daisy that it felt natural, that there wasn't a huge amount of "acting" going on. 'Gushing about his co-star, Paul added: 'When you have that chemistry it makes it so much fun! Daisy and I liked each other very much' So that's probably the root of it: having a similar sense of humour, thinking about the world in a relatively similar way and being able to communicate all that.'

I'm a lot older! and two years on I'm still addicted to these TH-cam clips that often precipitate a need to binge the whole thing again. But yeah it brings it all back, especially meeting my beautiful wife for the first time and my subsequent Connellesque stupidity when I almost lost her to a holiday romance!!

Beautiful words. I found myself feeling nostalgic while watching the series. Even on the last episode, I felt the excitement of the next one, only to realize it was the very last one, and wept. Parallel to what I felt when I broke up with my first love: the next morning my body felt that it was time to meet with him and then it remembered we had broken up, all the rush of sadness overcame me.

Honestly the best series ive ever watched it captivated me and had me thinking about it all day. I really felt my emotions being entwined with theirs every up and down I was right there with them feeling it

The 1st scene i saw was in previews on yt the detention scene and that made me check this series out at 11 in the night. Compeleted this series in one go.... Now i am sleep deprived yet i dont feel guilt of missing my sleep and spending my whole next day in hangover of sleep and watching all the interviews and other stuff on youtube... One of the most epic series i have come across hands down!!
I totally agree with the comments below about the series. I binged on it over two days here in Scotland, and find myself thinking of the story and the complex characters. That they find love together and yet have the confidence in themselves and in each other for one to go and the other to stay is a testament to the strength of the love between them. I truly hope they come together after the year and stay together for the rest of their lives. A magical adaptation of the book.
Goodness, it does bring a smile to our faces to hear just how much love you have for this charming show. We do hope that it made you feel just a bit closer to our isle, as well. 💚

Oh my god, I just completed the series Normal People.
MIND IS BLOWN. It was so so good. No spoilers obviously but I laughed, cried(a lot) and at times was totally mesmerised not to mention absolutely cringing at the sex scenes. Which in my opinion meant it was a job well done. I felt like I was in the room with them at times. The acting was spectacular and to think the leading lady isn't even Irish. Her accent was without doubt the best I have seen on screen by an non Irish actor and lord knows we have had some dodgy ones. The whole thing was so close to the bone and it really got me thinking over the past 3 days as we binged watched all 12 episodes. It was gripping. They touched on so many Irish themes and important issues and gracefully depicted the struggles in the lives of young people in Ireland today yet it also felt timeless. Likewise, It wasn't so colloquial that they alienated other countries. It would easily translate to the rest of the world. As a girl who had her son at 18, my son is 20 now and I am 38 and being from a small town I felt so connected to the relationship with the young mother and adult son and it made me feel really good. Highly highly recommend. 👏👏👏

Before the show, I knew absolutely nothing about Ireland. After watching the show, I can get to know more about Irish culture (especially slang). Come on Ireland, please make more shows. As a person who lives on the other side of the world, I would really wanna get to know more about Ireland and will definitely travel there one day.

Watched it with my partner and she cried during every episode. Im 31 now and it took me back to when i was 15 and the intense feelings i had for a girl who felt the same. Unfortunately i broke it off as i was incredibly shy and anxious. If only i could go back.

This film production was outstanding.
Sally Rooney must be thanked for writing an absorbing novel. I have read it twice now.
So pleased that I watched the film production first, as the actors, who are so well cast, fit perfectly into the novel.
Congratulations to both leads, Daisy and Paul who were superb in their respective roles. Their chemistry and
understanding of the story was mesmerising to watch. The highs and lows so well performed.
The supporting cast were also superb and contributed so well as the story evolves.
The Directors and Production team share a great deal of credit for this production. The cinematography was
extremely good. The music running through the story was haunting.
Young actors with a promising future are often identified with a particular film which marks their debut.
For Daisy and Paul, I think this production marks your debut.
Because of the years that separate us, I may not see the accolades, which will surely come to both of you in the future.
But I am very pleased that I was there to see your beginning

An absolutely incredible and moving story. Watched over the course of 48 hours and now my sister has lent me the book to read, which I've almost devoured. Also, being called Niall from Belfast made me feel like a character myself

Lovely Interview of Daisy E-J in which she really showing her maturity. A beautiful women with and prodigious talent. Mescal has now spoken of his pride in his co-star after she was nominated for a Golden Globes award. He wrote, "“Could not be prouder of you my friend.” What a great guy! What a great couple they'd make!

@@discoverireland I've never been to Ireland but my husband and i are planning to go to Europe for a vacation later in the year (assuming the travel restrictions are lifted by then) and Ireland is absolutely on our list. My distant relatives on my maternal Nanna's side are from Ireland so I would love to see some of the towns they were from. They came to Australia as free settlers in the mid 1800's...

I had a wonderful and unexpected 6 hour layover in Dublin where I walked through Trinity and went to see the Book of Kells. I wish I'd gotten a chance to see the beautiful countryside, I'm supposed to be in Sneem right now for a friend's wedding! I guess I'll have to settle for Discover Ireland videos for now...

Where is the beach in County Sligo, the village where the school and stadium are located, etc.? We just completed our second visit to Ireland last October, a 13-day tour clockwise from Dublin up to Galway, but no further on the Atlantic coast. We told ourselves we would return, next time from Shannon, back to Galway and up the northwest, always clockwise.
OK :-) I got my answers thanks to Wikipedia, "Principal photography began on location in County Sligo and Dublin in May 2019.[8]
Tubbercurry primarily made up the fictional town of Carricklea, with Streedagh Point along Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way used for beach scenes, Knockmore House in Enniskerry, County Wicklow for the Sheridans' residence, and a terraced home in Shankill, Dublin for the Waldrons' residence. The secondary school scenes were filmed in Hartstown Community School in Dublin with real students featuring as background characters.[9] Students from Trinity College Dublin also featured in the series while filming at the university.[10][11] Scenes at Marianne's Dublin flat were shot on Wellington Road in the affluent area of Ballsbridge."
We'd love to tell you more about the locations, JFrancois! The town of Tubbercurry in Sligo was chosen as Carricklea, Marianne and Connell’s fictional home town in the West of Ireland. The beach is actually Streedagh Beach in northwest Sligo, a strip of 3km of sand and dunes that form part of the Wild Atlantic Way.
