Very cool concept. Make a strat with all hidden pickups and a blank pick guard. I also think a stealth middle pickup is a fantastic idea on a strat since that middle pickup often gets in the way and a lot of guys lower it right down to avoid it interfering with the pick. If you could still have that middle sound without the pick up in the way that would be pretty awesome.
It's wonderful seeing someone who isn't afraid to turn their imagination into reality. You make a couple of things that I really love... and darn you, I want them!
Cool! It's like a Brad Paisley Secret Agent pickup from seymour duncan. This is one of those things I've wanted to try cuz its such a cool concept but have never gotten around to just doing it
Agreed, it doesn't sound like a vintage tele neck pickup. But it really compliments the bridge pickup quite nicely. I'd be completely satisfied if that was my guitar. Awesome job Dylan, I didn't think it was going to work as well as it does.
Me exactly. I am a woodworker and building an tele currently. I got a Beautiful Roasted neck, un-marked just dying for an ESQUIRE badge but think the hidden neck PU is very cool. I liked the sound too... I may reach out... I am building from a solid Paulowina body so assembling a super lightweight for bad shoulder and torn up arms reasons...I got both shoulder joints wore out, a torn bicep on one side and a torn rotor cuff on the other. All this makes a 5.5 lb Tele feel a lot more welcoming.. P.S. I enjoy the vids !!
I think it’s a great idea. I’m sure that there a lot of players that prefer the simple look of a Tele/Esquire. Adding a hidden neck pickup would be fun for me!
Great to hear the final outcome. Congratulations on this new pu & 100k subs!!! It does sound really good. Wished you had gave it some high gain though..? No biggy, it’s a Tele and we all know how versatile they can be. Earlier this summer I built me an Esquire with old 100+ year old spruce barn wood. Much to my surprise! This one is the best sounding of all my 16 electric guitars. Because of this and how I play differently on it. I would not put a neck pu in this one. But I would definitely put one of these in one of my other 5 partscaster Tele’s I’ve build. 👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome, I like how that sounds. I have a black Brad Paisley esquire with a klos neck. The fender has an SD pick-up up top. I call my guitar Robo Brad, and it only weighs 5.8lbs.
I have built 3 different Telecasters, but the one common piece is a neck humbucker. I got the idea from Terry Kath, of Chicago before his unfortunate demise.
During setup of a "fresh" instrument, I try to achieve a balance of output volume for each, and every pickup combination available. Once discovered, I tend to leave the volume and tone controls in the "optimum" position. Then I play a variety of styles to confirm usability with a minimum of adjustment. When I play I prefer to only concentrate on arrangement and playing dynamics.
like the sound! I'm doing something similar, but for a more serious reason. I play with fingers/nails (sometimes thumb pick) and break them with the poles. Then I thought - how to move the pickup away and do without the poles but save the bright sound? This led me to neodymium. I did an experiment. I changed the H magnet on my guitar to HSS. It's like an H on drugs and anabolics😁 but I like it. I have no background in electronics, but it's clear that you have to play with coils, magnet size, distance. So I bought (for testing) 2 single coils with bar magnet (ceramic), changed them with neodymium, found covers (strat type) I will cover them with gold foil- aluminium artec type (the H is gold foil looking). My idea is to move them away from the strings so I can play. But I think as a musician. I really don't know what will happen. I would like your opinion on 1. What pots and capacitors should I put in (the luthier will do it, not me, of course). 2. Should I wax them?👍
Hmm....Next tele project put a short bridge and hide both pickups! Hide the controls under a super slim pickguard with touch sensor potentiometers and switches.
Ibanez had a different approach when they did the RG550XH and used active electronics which made the middle pickup sound like the neck one. It had to be done because you're not gonna get that optimal neck position with 30 frets. Uli Roth does something similar to what you did with his Sky Guitar except the neck pickup is under the fingerboard.
I purchased a new Telecaster Ultra with the new noiseless (the bridge sounds good but...) I have to say your neck pick up sounds much better, I don't know what's going on with the people at Fender
I get the feeling that would make the start of a good noiseless neck pickup because they are usually duller than single coils. But using those magnets and wind, it could counter act the dulling out of making it a humbucker. Thoughts?
I had a Seymour Duncan Secret Agent put in the middle position of my tele. It doesn’t balance well between the Bareknuckle Yardbird set in the neck and bridge. I’d like to get those Straty sounds in the 2&4 positions. Do you think you could design one for the middle position? “Stealth Nashville”
I will 100% buy one of those if they go into production.

I dont have a strat yet.... I would like to own an all black stealthed out strat. That would be awesome.
Seymour Duncan secret agent pickup. Years old. Brad paisley thing
@@ed713caBut the agent has ceramic magnet

Seymour Duncan secret agent pickup. It's been around for years
I/m not surprised that you can always figure out how to do this stuff. Good on you!
Cool! It's like a Brad Paisley Secret Agent pickup from seymour duncan. This is one of those things I've wanted to try cuz its such a cool concept but have never gotten around to just doing it
Sounds awesome. Interesting idea and if I saw and heard this guitar live without knowing, I would be hella confused. Thanks for posting.

It's nice & BRIGHT for a Tele neck pick up!
Fantastic work. Cool concept. And props to Texas Toast for a great looking axe.

Man that guitar is sweet & Love that idea! Thanks For Sharing 🎸🎶

Great idea. Ya got me thinking, what about an enlarge back plate that holds the pickups as well as cover the springs on a Strat.

I have a Tele with a hidden neck pickup. I built it a couple of years ago. I wanted a Broadcaster look with a more sounds :)

Doug has all the cool TTG guitars!
I think it sounds really good
I will keep this in mind once i build my own esquire

SD lill 59 on the bridge. Ohh yaa

Congrats! I doubt it was easy to do. Would a neodymium bar magnet without slugs work vs rod magnets?
Like the idea, do you think you could ever put a pickup in the fretboard?
Nice. Why not do all pickups under the pickguard on a Strat? Would that work too ?
Want one in a FENCE POST!!! lol

outside the box 👍
I think it sounds good, but has its own spund overall. I wound if using a bar magnet samarium cobalt magnet would work well.

Dylan, if you produce these put me down for one to go in my esquire.
same gauss reading at the hight of interest?
I guess the only question now is how much is this pickup going to cost me ..?
