That was my thinking 3-4 years ago, however I would have been much better off in chip stocks, crypto, even msft and aapl. But 3-4 years was not my initial timespan, it's still my largest position and I am bullish long term, and optimistic on FSD.
Elon isn't like Thomas Edison....he is probably better. Edison did a lot of shady shit to undercut his competitors, Elon just builds better products and lets the market decide.
There is a reason he named the company after Tesla and not Edison.

Elon DOES put everyone to shame. Certainly in terms of vision, technical planning and execution. Ask yourselves WHY he works so hard. Unlike every other billionaire out there , he’s driven by a vision that drives him to make a positive, lasting difference in the course of humanity, for all humanity. Ya, he sometimes lets his thoughts and mouth get a little ahead of his deepest conscience, but he’s humble enough to apologize, backtrack and forge ahead towards goals that no one else has the balls to take on.
I only ask that everyone ask “what role can I play” in working towards attaining his goals that resonate with you. LEAD or FOLLOW, but don’t get in the fucking way!

As a long term investor I believe she has it right. We also do not know what is still coming that none knows about. I am sitting in retirement right now, waiting to see what comes in the future. It is exciting to watch and see it happening. I am looking forward to buying my first Tesla very soon.
Chinese New year was earlier in 2023 so both January and February impact. So compare January + February year over year. Sales are down in China. Most likely because Chinese economy is in a difficult place. BYD and others have similar issues
TSLA is an ASIC BTC miner compared to legacy auto being a GPU from 5 years ago.. Cant even come close in terms of efficiency. Tesla is propitiatory, built from the ground up. Legacy auto is generic off the shelf and cant do anything in house. Their is no competition.

Here is the real bottom line prediction; 1. TSLA will NOT hit over $325 this year 2. TSLA will NOT gradually keep on going up ( so all valuation models are inherently wrong if they take this process into account of it going up little by little) 3. TSLA has a much larger percentage of a chance to skyrocket to this $2000 price target in the "next 5 Years" in a very short amount of time. 4. It is anyone guess as to when this can happen within the next "5 years". Thesis- just be invested in TSLA, and you should be good.
I think PLTR and UiPath could see a 10X jump. I can explain my thoughts here if you would like. (their would be alot to talk about)

SMCI could see a 7x in value based on the number of chips needed in the future as AI progresses.
I mean SMCI is also low relative to what it will be as they compete with nvidia for conductor production. Tesla is slowly becoming an okay investment. It won't be as low as 176 for ever, I foresee it going to maybe $300 in 2025, if Elon follows through on numbers.@ChristinePerkins-yt7ie

You don't stop going to the restaurant that has good food, just because you don't like the CEOs politics, or use lawfare to stop him from getting paid what he's worth, do you? Or do you go to that restaurant in solidarity, to support that CEOs business no matter what his politics are, to prove that people have the right to express themselves freely in a free society? As an investor, I'm only interested in the bottom line of the business model, as a human being, I am concerned with the ability of other human beings to express their opinions, no matter who they are. Elons opinions only add to my respect for him. His opinions give insight to his personality, which, like his company, does not GAF about what other people, or what traditional manufacturers say "should be" the way things go. Outside the box is where CEOs should reside, not following the orthodoxy. His political beliefs only reinforce that he doesn't, and will not, think like all the sheep in the media, or in the financial industrial complex. Whether people agree with his political beliefs or not, the best part is, he is showing he thinks for himself and that is a rare commodity these days.
Cathie Wood cood short-circuit "analysts" bitching about "autonomy ain't here yet!" by saying, "autonomy ain't legal yet." The US regulator - NHTSA - hasn't published standards: NHTSA promised to state criteria before the end of 2023. Tesla has yet to apply for FSD approval. Tesla won't apply until NHSTA defines what they will accept as "Level 5..."
Y model Y did not get very significantly better at FSD in the last year. Hopefully there has been a lot of improvement that they simply didn’t release.
Two real catalysts for Tesla in the long run: 1) data that Tesla has to power their auto-pilot enhancement - something that other companies are lagging behind; 2) legislations finally legalizing Tesla's auto-pilot while humanity acknowledging the few casualties caused by auto-pilot from time to time (in a way, like humanity accepted air transportation despite the air crashes occasionally occurring).
Cathie said 5 - 10 years. CRISPR will 7 to 10x or more over the next 5 - 10 years. But you already knew that 😊

TESLA FSD ROBI TAXIS WILL BE A THING IN 2030! Engineers at Tesla are amazed at the rapid improvements in FSD. It still has flaws today, yes...but it's learning and Tesla is investing more in cpu/gpu's. It's only going to get better. I can't wait.

We are always thinking about some blend of old, current & new ideas almost all the time. God gave us brains so we could use them to benefit our immediate family members, our friends, our neighbours, our species. We may not be the best looking, nor the wealthiest, nor do we always make the best predictions of the future, but Tesla & Spacex & Starlink & Boring make SENSE to us, and we get inspired by what Elon is doing. What a GREAT time to be alive! Now back to a nagging electronics design problem I'm working on late into the night here in western Canada...

If only were that easy for everyone to design their own chips as well as manufacture and sustain their edge across time. I say this being personally invested in tesla. But man, nvidia, intel, amd, arm, etc. These companies have so many decades of experience and assets in the processor business, that I find nearly impossible to be challenged. Of course I could be wrong. We will see.
BEWARE: None of Cathie's predictions have materialized. If you look back on her past predictions, you will find that none of them have come true and Tesla's stock continues to flounder. And now, 2028, is just another prediction. That should give investors plenty of time to save up tremendous capital for the day when Tesla begins to meet or exceed expectations. For now, Tesla has too many problems to solve. I agree as well that Tesla has tremendous potential, but as long as Wall Street has no confidence in Tesla and continues to sell off the stock, investor's should remain cautious. I continue to look forward to better days at Tesla and I remain hopeful that Elon Musk and Tesla has what it takes to turn it around. My prediction is that it is going to be many years before Tesla realizes a trillion dollar valuation again. That said, I really hope I'm wrong about this.

I think Edison’s reputation is very overblown. His contemporary, Nikola Tesla, was a much better investor and genius.
However, Edison was much more financially successful, so in that way Elon is more like Edison (so far).

Answering the question about other stocks, I do see Coinbase and Palantir doing another 10x from here in roughly 5-7 years, but the risk is a lot bigger than with Tesla imo. Bitcoin is another candidate that I think will do more than 20x, but again larger risk and not a stock.
In terms of risk/reward, Tesla definitely is the best stock out there.

I understand your point about a concentrated bet on Tesla but many investors don't have a choice to buy individual stocks in their retirement accounts. They are limited to buying only mutual funds or maybe ETFs. As such the only way to get a more concentrated bet on Tesla would be through an Ark Mutual fund or a Baron's Partners fund. The later fund family will give you a more concentrated bet on Tesla combined with exposure to SpaceX. I know you don't cover SpaceX but you might not be too troubled by an investment in Barons funds in order to get a lot of exposure to BOTH SpaceX and Telsa. So don't come down too hard on watering down your Tesla bet when ridiculous sums of money aren't allowed direct investing in Tesla. Instead just remind folks in that situation how to buy the stock through funds with major concentration in Tesla.

i am utterly disgusted by how Nvidia gets all the stock glory when the ONLY reason ANYONE knows them at all IS from Tesla simply by way of "Elon Bad" Seriously FSD12 Beta IS ALREADY BETTER than HUMANS.
