Good job as always. The only idea I had regarding the fence fixing would be to fabricate a steel bracket that spanned between the joists / rafters, bolted to joists and up though to post foot.

All coming together nicely. What a great property when all finished! Painstakingly slow with the fiddly bits which I’m glad about because we the viewer get a much longer video each week. Superb as always!!
Hi lads, grp is a amazing material to work with, what ever plates or fixings you do, you can just fibreglass straight over them. The fence panels look like a eurocell product
Love this build. Enjoy the channel so much as its nice to see not just the work but the thinking that goes into solving the problems and the solutions. The weekly update on this series has also been great. May the sun continue to shine.
Hi guys as you had so many challenges on the roof has the customer not provided any drawings to try and help you guys out? @@Mr_A_Builders all good mukka, had a productive weekend of DIY, the carport now has walls (took me ages, mainly coz I’m the master of procrastination 🤣 )
Such detail and info. The only thing I could add is I may have been tempted to put a lump of 6X2 flat up under the deck and bolted those fence post through that and extended the timber to those reduced noggins without blocking the air flow , perhaps a pointy end. This would give a much longer lever to resist the wind, I'd be less worried about losing the fence than it taking lumps of roof with it. Cheers lads.
Agree. With a 9x2 or similar screwed and glued, you could coach bolt the bracket - then you can remove later if necessary. Pain to remove it with nuts and bolts if even possible at all!
When we was doing one of these balastrades the bc was very picky, we had to get an engineerers report to say it could take force of anyone leaning on it etc, between the rafters in the ceiling we hand to add a patress then have bolts all the way through to the posts, pain in the arse, think we used compression washers to seal it, please take this as advice and not anything else, i dont know if 18mm osb is sufficient, good luck though.
nice job. i think i would have fiberglassed in a few little islands for the posts to be bolted to so that the holes are not in the line of the water run off.
I hearing ya, mate. We were worried about the fence getting even higher, and there's a 10mm gap underneath so hopefully that'll suffice! We shall see! Cheers mate.
Great work and enjoyable videos. I would have tied the roof post into the rafters too using a custom 90 angle. Given you could tie both ends into a rafter, both 90 degree angles could be made into a u section. This would allow for you to use your existing bolts for the post, but would also allow for lateral stiffness by bolting into the joist. All the best lads!
@@Mr_A_Builders no problem. I am no structural engineer, but I am sure they would think just it’s a good idea to get a custom U-Section fabricated that will fit between the joists and allow for the post to be secured through the roof and through the rafters. Hopefully it’s not over engineering, maybe worth doing if the resin has cured and you only need to replace the bolts from underneath. Good luck with that.
Great update chaps. Interested to see how the glass balustrade transitions to the composite panels. Hopefully there won’t be any gaps. Now, go get a haircut…..

I know you're concerned about the wind effect on the terrace panels, I'd be more concerned about a 17 stone lump leaning against it, especially the glass front section. Hi Terence. We’ve used moisture resistant boards inside because they are better than standard boards and also with the weather as it is they with stand wet feet better. We always use treated timber for all aspects no matter where it’s used. We didn’t use the waterproof egger boards on the deck because you can only use OSB for the base fibreglass. Hope this answers your questions
@mrabuilders6723 if that's what is required, but I have ripped many roofs off with those OSB boards, and I find they are useless when water gets in when we have done flat roofs in the past we always used 12mm or 18mm ply boards I don't rate OSB boards but if that's what is in the drawings that's fair enough.
If water gets in to the OSB or ply then the roof covering has failed so that would be a while different problem no matter what the substructure. From what I know about Fibre glass you can’t use normal ply especially something like marine ply. I fitted some dormers a few years ago with marine ply substructure and had to cover it again with OSB following what the roofer told me 🤷🤷. Thanks again for the comment 👍🏻

Im not a fan of premieres, just post the damned video.
Paul! How are you? Being that you're your usual polite, happy self I'm presuming well??!!! We always turn the premier bit off one minute before the scheduled time, we use the premier bit as promotion so people know its happening. Judging by your comment it's worked!!! WOO HOO!!! Have a tip top Sunday old bean.
I'm well thanks. Although the rain this afternoon has already ruined my plan to wash and wax the car. As a regular viewer I usually know when the next video is so no need to do advance premieres.
I’m with Paul, post the bloody video
Good things come to those who wait, James!
