I’m not an artist, but I do write. This challenge seemed fun, so I decided to try it out myself to design characters! The songs that I got were: White Winter Hymnal by Pentatonix, Good Thing by NCT 127, and Hello Seattle by Owl City. White Winter Hymnal is a cheerful and melodious sounding song, especially the Pentatonix version, but it actually has incredibly morbid lyrics. It’s also a wintery song that was on Pentatonix’s iconic Christmas album, so I used that as inspiration for the story. Good Thing doesn’t really have a deep meaning, it’s just… about sex, as a lot of kpop and especially NCT songs are. But there are mentions of living in a big city and experiencing the moment of sexual pleasure. Hello Seattle is a poetic song about experiencing the beauty of Seattle, but there are also ties to Christianity as well as potential references of death and ascending to heaven. So, for the characters: the exposition would be set up as a Christmas romance movie where an attractive couple moves to Seattle together to start a new life and experience their first Christmas together. But they’re both hiding dark secrets, and their relationship isn’t as wholesome as it would appear: the girlfriend is the psychopath that you would never expect, she is a good Christian girl on the outside but has killer instincts deep down. Meanwhile, the boyfriend seems to be in love at first, but he is truly just in the relationship for the sex and the pleasure it brings him. The girlfriend ends up getting tired of how obsessed her boyfriend is with sex, and she completely snaps when she finds out her relationship is one-sided. So she comes up with a plan for Christmas Eve night to kill him in his sleep, and send his soul to heaven so she can spend Christmas alone. Sorry this was long, but I had a fun time coming up with it! Thank you if you actually read this entire comment
Okay, I hate plugging, but if anyone is super interested in Julia's kind of story, check out Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao. It's a book and it goes HARD on the vibe. The vibe beind it speciically "tear down the patriatchy" and "my and my lovers (yes plural) are gunna return the hatred put upon us ten fold" and it is immaculte. It also includes mechas and Chinese mythology because REASONS. It is the Vindication meme to a T with a GREAT plotline/cliff hanger. Julia, if you see this I think you would LOOOVE it too
Actually nothing has made me want to invest in Clip more than Jacob's drawing in this one. It just looks so organic and well suited to the story he was telling.
clip studio is free and imma be honest I got the pro version from a youtube tutorial so, just give it a go totally worth your artistic time and if you ever actually make profit out of it, then you buy it for real so you can thank clip studio for being so awesome
Jacob's composition is very, very good. I'm really impressed by the positions of the hands and the guitar's neck. THREE intersecting lines are hard to do. It was a really risky approach, but he nailed it very naturally.
Love these all so much, but Karina's is sooo pretty and cute and absolutely got me chanting "t-4-t" in my head lmao; canon or not, the work is gorgeous omg.
have we considered: closeted trans girl meets Exuberantly Feminine And Proud trans girl and this is the moment when Oneof Theboys comes out to Lovesick Girl, who is so excited that she offers to show Oneof how to put on lipstick.
My one problem with Drawfee is that I always end up craving more of all these cool characters they create. Like I wanna read the full comic of "one of the boys" and "lovesick girl"!
As soon as I saw the swings I imagined a scene where Lovesick Girl is giving advice to One of the Boys and lets a very tender compliment slip, and OotB is so surprised by it that she stops holding the swing in place and flies to the side, breaks the lipstick on the go and they're both left to laugh at her reaction and smudged face
the fact that we're already headcanoning AND giving them acronym nicknames...drawfee fandom moving at the speed of light. What's the ship name? One of the Lovesick Girl?
These are three of my all time favorite pieces of drawfee and I always forget that they're in the same episode. I truly want to watch a really well made movie based on each of these ideas. Do this one again!
I can't think of anything other than the Jenny Joy song where Brock from Pokemon is singing about how he can't choose which to pick whrn I see "Jenny". By the end of the song other women pop up and he gets even more indecisive. Edit: Brock - Two Perfect Girls
I was so surprised. Maybe it's because we usually see Jacob drawing neat little dudes and kind of doing that more 'comic style' art with very clean linework, leaving the artsier Art to Julia & Karina you sometimes forget that Jacob has this stunning skillset as well 🙂
This episode kind of feels a little like the Tarot cards episode - for one thing, I like how Jacob changed the design of his Horseshoe Crabs character to make him look less like Nathan - good magic friends don't draw magic friends sad (without reason). Redirect that energy, yeah!
My playlist's output was too perfect not to mention: 1: Get Jinxed - League of Legends. This is literally the theme song for Jinx, so that's easy enough. She likes to blow things up. 2: Gimme Shelter - Stone Sour ft Lzzy Hale. A cover of a classic, this makes for a character who seems like a fundamental opposite to Jinx, someone who digs in and protects people. 3: Are You Ready for Me - Pretty Vicious. A punk rock song that features in Life is Strange: Before the Storm, this song sets up their relationship just as you'd expect, with Jinx as the threat our second character has to face, but she's the biggest challenge yet!
My playlist's output was pretty cool too! 1. Alive - Jaiden Stylez 2. Remedy - Leony 3. Ghost in my Home - Point North So what do I do with this now...?
Jacob, watching you draw was really emotional for me, and kinda painful. Even the sketch was evoking some really strong emotions on me. In special the fear of getting old, and not achieving success as an artist. And the ghost girl keeping the old man company was also evoking me some very strong emotions, but thats a more personal story. Im very impressed by how many emotions it packed. Amazing drawing!
I love these speedpaint vids bc it really captures how varied everyone’s art styles are, and I feel like the addition of music is just an extension of that. Also it’s fun how y’all are friends but you’re all so different in ways
Seriously one of the most varied and cool episodes in awhile, loved the prompt and everyone nailed it. Especially obsessed with Jacob’s backstory, such an equally beautiful and *emotionally crushing* concept lol
Jacobs drawing reminds me of Marceline and the Ice King. It's like some kind of AU with them where Simon plays guitar and the crown corruption isn't there. Just lovely drawings all around.
I got: 1. Silver - DMA's 2. Shadow - Bleachers 3. Milk & Honey - Jessarae So, I'm drawing a sun symbolism person and a moon symbolism person sharing a sensual moment in a garden. Heck yeah! I like this challenge!
I wanted to see what music I would get if I did this, and man, I never woulda thought I would gotten such a weird combo. Miracle - Caravan Palace Smart Race - Toby Fox Under Attack - Brian David Gilbert [feat. 2winz2]
also wanted to see what i'd get if i did this and it was also such a weird combo XD: lullaby for a princess by Ponyphonic phenomenon by thousand foot krutch my nightmare by get scared
This prompt was awesome and the drawings slap almost as hard as the Pacific Rim Main Theme (feat. Tom Morello)! I can see why more high concept prompts like this might be more difficult to work with but I really hope they do more stuff like this. Or just do this exact thing again, because everyone knocked it out of the park!
ahhh I'm so glad this got recommended to me again, it's gotta be my favorite episode! I'd love to see another sort of high-concept prompt like this, it's so much fun to see the pieces that come out of it
I have given up my long fight for a Night Vale episode. Now I only long for the return of WIKI ROULETTE. For extra spice, use the Drawfee wiki for the ultimate recursive drawing challenge. Bonus points if folks such as Paragon Hank and Pucconici can guest star.
I've been watching some of the old speed draws lately, and I just wanna say y'all have grown so much as artists over the years and it's such a treat to get to watch it!
this may be one of my favorite drawfee episodes! the characters and all the stories are so cool! I highly recommend queuing up the songs to play in the background while they draw. They're all good songs and it really heightens the vibes
I really want Nathan to do this one too at some point, if that’s okay. Not only would I love to see what kind of music Nathan listens too, but these all turned out so crazy good, so I’d really like to see his take on the challenge
It seems that Julia has been drawing less rooms and locations, and more actual characters. I don't know why, but I thought in this episode there'd for sure be a full room with her characters.
SUCH A COOL EPISODE the vibes are immaculate "Nathan's just chilling today" AS HE SHOULD. FRIEND-SHAPED COMPANION another reminder that I wanna learn CSP Karina's wimmin always swoon me. the gayz crave and KARINA DELIVERS also yay for drawing the Roman nose! diversity! OH MY GOSH JULIA DELIVERS THE GAYDIES TOO MYSELF, A LESB1AN, IS VIBING SO HARD god Julia is so good at capturing those really tricky emotions
All of these are sooo good and cool like 💳💥💳💥💳💥💳💥 FUND IT... Jacob's feels like a cool artsy but emotional cartoon network cartoon, Karina's would be either a really fun indulgent teen drama series that twitter would love OR a sweet quirky indie teen movie that twitter would love, and Julia's would be a badass cerebral cinematic scifi movie.
... So i just started writing a short fanfic story based on Karina's drawing.. I loved the concept so much, couldn't contain myself! Also love this prompt concept for creating story ideas (since I write fanfic/short stories) Also that concept just screamed 90s teen drama/rom-com to me
Someone in the official discord "recent episode suggestions" literally just asked for fanfics based on this episode to be sent to them so you have a niche already
Never heard of Slothrust before, but Jacob's music taste is pretty similar to mine so I checked 'em out and they seem cool. Drawfee delivering on all fronts today.
When they were explaining how the challenge works at the beginning all I could think about was the Misery x CPR x Reece's Puffs meme and now I just want to see someone do this challenge with those three songs.
This reminds me of an OC prompt/challenge I saw on tiktok that was something like, 1st song = gender (match gender of singer), 2nd song = color palette (use color scheme of album pic), 3rd song = style/aesthetic (so gothy for gothy genre, hipstery for indie genre, etc), 4th song = personality I think? Or maybe it was just the first 3.
This is still one of my favorites from Drawfee that I go back to frequently. I like that everyone gets their time to talk about songs they like, it’s comforting.

Thank you if you actually read this entire comment
that's so cool, I love it! (side note: White winter hymnal is such a good song!)
OOOoo that’s so metal! I really like that little story you came up with! It sounds like it could be a song all on its own
This is so fucking hardcore
This rules!!!
ehem, excuse me, did I just find a pentaholic in the wild? I thought I could only find them on reaction videos. huh. (also neat character)
Julia, if you see this I think you would LOOOVE it too
i picked up the book after reading your comment and i cant put in words how good it is. thanks for the rec!!!!
It’s not plugging if it isn’t a book that you wrote 😂 it’s just making a recommendation lol
Julia will come in saying "oh yeah, i didn't spend too long on this, i dont really like it" and then do the most badass drawing youve ever seen
Clip does regular discounts. I got mine Ex version (full version) for just 40 euro and that's really a low price for such a program.
Right? I was saying this as I was watching. It gives big trans masc falls in love with trans femme vibes
Yesssss i was feeling this vibe to hard i adore it
have we considered: closeted trans girl meets Exuberantly Feminine And Proud trans girl and this is the moment when Oneof Theboys comes out to Lovesick Girl, who is so excited that she offers to show Oneof how to put on lipstick.
@@eric_the_egggremlin that is 100% what I was thinking
@@eric_the_egggremlin Awww!!!!
My one problem with Drawfee is that I always end up craving more of all these cool characters they create. Like I wanna read the full comic of "one of the boys" and "lovesick girl"!
Yall should draw power rangers villains you've never heard of before!
Yes!
YES! I suggest this all the time
yes yes yes yes yes
Oh my god PLEASE
Chunky Chicken! Do Chunky Chicken!
Jacob's characters feel like they'd be from a webcomic that would make me cry by the end of it... I really love them and their dynamic.
@@wafflefalafel9442 I guess the only other option is Lovesick the Boys, and that's not as good
Karina going straight for my heart with her piece, especially with how much "One of the Boys" means to me personally. You love to see it.
Nothing straight about that drawing.
These are three of my all time favorite pieces of drawfee and I always forget that they're in the same episode.
I truly want to watch a really well made movie based on each of these ideas.
Do this one again!
I literally screamed "YES" when Karina explained her concept
When Karina read those 3 titles, that's exactly what I was hoping she would do. She knows how to give the people (me) what they want
i heard the songs and went “lesbians😳” in my head and was not let down
Karina, I'm pretty sure that color palette is just called "Wes Anderson".
Karine just proved to me that those three songs together makes one song. "Jenny" by Stuido Killers. Forget those amiiiigooooos!!
I can't think of anything other than the Jenny Joy song where Brock from Pokemon is singing about how he can't choose which to pick whrn I see "Jenny". By the end of the song other women pop up and he gets even more indecisive.
Edit: Brock - Two Perfect Girls
Julia always slays but her piece today is absolutely AMAZING, the way she carves out shapes>>>
Jacob's piece is stunning! The pen-and-ink energy is so evocative and pretty. (Also the songs bang.)
I loved what a departure this was for him, I think pushing outside his comfort zone really paid off!
This might be one of my favorite Jacob pieces.
I'm happy that Nathan was in the episode even if he didn't show a speed draw!! Always a pleasure to watch the 4 of you :D
My playlist's output was too perfect not to mention:
1: Get Jinxed - League of Legends.
1. Alive - Jaiden Stylez
2. Remedy - Leony
3. Ghost in my Home - Point North
So what do I do with this now...?
Just lovely drawings all around.
yesssss as soon as he nailed the hair I went oh it’s a marceline :’)
I got:
1. Silver - DMA's
2. Shadow - Bleachers
3. Milk & Honey - Jessarae
So, I'm drawing a sun symbolism person and a moon symbolism person sharing a sensual moment in a garden. Heck yeah! I like this challenge!
Or you could draw hedgehogs if the 3rd song was different
@@masterboa6321 This is exactly what I was thinking LMAO
oh my god that's adorable
I wanted to see what music I would get if I did this, and man, I never woulda thought I would gotten such a weird combo.
Miracle - Caravan Palace
Smart Race - Toby Fox
Under Attack - Brian David Gilbert [feat. 2winz2]
@@jabblock5433 I would love to see it.
also wanted to see what i'd get if i did this and it was also such a weird combo XD:
lullaby for a princess by Ponyphonic
phenomenon by thousand foot krutch
my nightmare by get scared
Y'know that one panel comic challenge that y'all did with the New Yorker? The one that made Julia go "HEUPH"?? What if that...but Far Side comics?
🐮 🛠
Cow tools
This prompt was awesome and the drawings slap almost as hard as the Pacific Rim Main Theme (feat. Tom Morello)!
I can see why more high concept prompts like this might be more difficult to work with but I really hope they do more stuff like this. Or just do this exact thing again, because everyone knocked it out of the park!
As a tshirt designed I've always known that mustard yellow, navy blue, burnt orange, green combination as vintage tshirt colors.
As someone who got deeply into seasonal colour analysis lately, I was thinking autumn colours.
ahhh I'm so glad this got recommended to me again, it's gotta be my favorite episode! I'd love to see another sort of high-concept prompt like this, it's so much fun to see the pieces that come out of it
all of them were fantastic, but when i saw karina did a sapphic coming-of-age piece, i went Ape Shitt- she didn’t disappoint
Yess Wiki Roulette my beloved
Man, an episode based on the weird posts on the Night Vale Twitter/Facebook would be SO COOL!!!
I've been watching some of the old speed draws lately, and I just wanna say y'all have grown so much as artists over the years and it's such a treat to get to watch it!
These all seem like graphic novels or like short stories that are in a collection together and I would absolutely read them all. The v i b e s
this may be one of my favorite drawfee episodes! the characters and all the stories are so cool! I highly recommend queuing up the songs to play in the background while they draw. They're all good songs and it really heightens the vibes
It's very nice listening to the songs before or after to get the feelings kicking
I really want Nathan to do this one too at some point, if that’s okay.
Not only would I love to see what kind of music Nathan listens too, but these all turned out so crazy good, so I’d really like to see his take on the challenge
"Nobody wants to be lit from the front-"
Except a drag queen.
A drag queens worst enemy is overhead lighting (by itself)
Too many shadows on the face
It seems that Julia has been drawing less rooms and locations, and more actual characters. I don't know why, but I thought in this episode there'd for sure be a full room with her characters.
no one said they're NOT in a room 👀
A Room Full of Complicated Feelings
Jacob's looks like an indie album cover art
I need Karina's story as a show right this minute
Julia nails it every time
Julia's piece gives me big 'Iron Widow' vibes! I love! Great pieces from everyone, but for how fast she did it Julia absolutely crushed it as usual!
I saw "Iron Widow", I had to reply. you are absolutely correct, the sad one has similar vibes to Li and the angry one is definitely Zetian.
SUCH A COOL EPISODE the vibes are immaculate
"Nathan's just chilling today" AS HE SHOULD. FRIEND-SHAPED COMPANION
another reminder that I wanna learn CSP
Karina's wimmin always swoon me. the gayz crave and KARINA DELIVERS
also yay for drawing the Roman nose! diversity!
OH MY GOSH JULIA DELIVERS THE GAYDIES TOO
MYSELF, A LESB1AN, IS VIBING SO HARD
god Julia is so good at capturing those really tricky emotions
All of these are sooo good and cool like 💳💥💳💥💳💥💳💥 FUND IT... Jacob's feels like a cool artsy but emotional cartoon network cartoon, Karina's would be either a really fun indulgent teen drama series that twitter would love OR a sweet quirky indie teen movie that twitter would love, and Julia's would be a badass cerebral cinematic scifi movie.
... So i just started writing a short fanfic story based on Karina's drawing.. I loved the concept so much, couldn't contain myself! Also love this prompt concept for creating story ideas (since I write fanfic/short stories) Also that concept just screamed 90s teen drama/rom-com to me
Someone in the official discord "recent episode suggestions" literally just asked for fanfics based on this episode to be sent to them so you have a niche already
omg are u planning on posting it somewhere when u finish it? i would love to read it :] (no pressure though ofc!)
Karina will almost certainly read it, she follows Drawfee RPF on ao3 apparently
karina said art, but make it gae
@@sonicmoth8340 art has always been gae 😀
i cannot stop thinking about jacob’s story, like that was such a nice and creative little story
Moody art episodes are some of the best episodes with such consistency
Thank you. I have screenshotted this and it is now mine :)
This is still one of my favorites from Drawfee that I go back to frequently. I like that everyone gets their time to talk about songs they like, it’s comforting.
this was a surprisingly beautiful & profound Drawfee.
