Love it! As an Accord 1.5T owner this caught my attention. It's not the 2.0 but for what it is the 1.5T does very well in the real world. All around mileage hangs in the low 30 mpg range so I'm happy.

However, if you bought the 2.0T Accord, it's like getting a bit more memory and processing speed in the phone. still does everything the 1.5T does, but faster.
.. yes the 2.0 is that but with much less battery than the “12 mini”. I get 40mpg per tank on my 1.5 Accord, which over the course of 200k miles, has averaging $3.20, will save me 4 grand over a car averaging 32mpg. Things people don’t consider when looking at different cars. It all adds up. Might as well add the difference to the asking price of the car.

My father came home one day with the 5th Generation Honda Accord. It was beyond sleek and stylish in shiney jet black, black tinted windows, black leather interior and killer stereo system. Everyone called it the Batmobile. It was a huge surprise because my father, bless him in heaven, was a die hard all American man, Chevy only. But when he got ragged for buying a Japanese car, he said he didn't care, he saw a beautiful car and that changed his mind. Plus they are actually made in the US and great for employees, so it wasn't a complete sin. I loved that car. The driving was a cloud on wheels. I just don't feel the 2021 Accord looks cool enough. But it's still a standard nice looking.
Saw what I thought was the new Civic in the neighborhood and was so excited to compare cuz we have a 2017 Civic but then I was like “why’s it so big?”… it was an Insight.. the kicker? It was the exact same white as the two cars in this vid.. was a very eye opening day about how similar Honda’s cars look… actually, it was a very insightful day
Depends. Audi’s are typically underrated slightly from the factory. I’d think it’d be a matter of the AWD launching better, but could it overcome the weight. The BMW base engines are really weak in the past, but they also slightly underrate their engines and the new base motor rates higher than A4’s and Accords 2.0T. Though, they are all definitely within the same ballpark.
I wish you'd post the quarter mile times and speeds. Yes, even for races like this! Carwow posts the numbers. I love your channel, I wish I knew the numbers!
That 1.5 is a really good engine to tune, when I had my 18 Civic Sport Touring Hatch I used Hondata, upgraded the turbo, intake, and intercooler. I was surprised by what cars I've beaten in that hatchback, but now I'm going to do the same to my new Accord Touring 2.0t.
I thought that the Civic was racing against the 2.0 T accord and I was supremely disappointed. But my drunken self only after realized it was the 1.5 Accord

It’s basically the same engine and transmission, the accord has a very small power advantage, but still the civic is smaller and lighter, I was actually expecting the civic to beat the accord by a little more, but good race !!
The Accord has more interior space and bigger, comfier seats as mentioned in the video and yet appears pretty close in speed to the civic. I'll take bigger and comfier, thanks.
I beg to differ...I test drove both 2022 Honda civic and Accord and the road noise isn't as exaggerated at you're making it to be. Maybe the surface that you tested it on was pretty coarse too. In fact I would say the opposite that Honda has worked hard to improve these issues a lot.
Fun fact, the 10th gen Civic was lighter and quicker still, not to mention way better looking, at least in regular, not performance enhanced trim. Imo anyway. The Accord also looks way more modern and attractive than the 11th gen Civic.
If I were in the city, I'd save a bundle and get the Civic. Living in the bright end of nowhere, I would need the extra cargo space of the Accord... and as good as CVTs are getting, I'd prefer a manual for the Civic and a conventional auto for the Accord. No hate on CVTs, they just aren't "there" yet. And that was the slowest and most glacial start to a drag race I have ever seen. Fantastic. :)
I don't feel like a CVT suits the character of these cars. In the right car though, they're absolutely "there" I think...it's just there are very few cars that make them work. Fast and wafty is ideal in my opinion. Only car with a good CVT I've driven is a GS450h, enough power that the engine drone issue is irrelevant (since you're speeding before it maxes the revs) and it's also stupidly effective- that car is somehow quicker past 60mph than my 981CS with only 20hp more while weighing an extra 520kg and having a touch more drag. Admittedly that car has some crazy dual stage planetary setup which means it's basically lossless while a belt CVT is very lossy, but the gearbox does cost about as much as a whole Civic...
I'm an anti auto, and anti CVT guy. But the CVT in my GF's Accord seems to be great. No fake shifting (even if it does have the paddles, which are funny), just a constant drone in the right RPM for whatever speed you are going. For a person like her, who isn't a car person, I think it performs perfect.

Now, I care about the how and why of vehicles, and see the personal value that a purely practical approach doesn't have. A vehicle with a CVT can be fine, it depends what you need out of the vehicle, though. I was raised with 4 on the floor and 3 on the tree, didn't get an automatic until my 4th vehicle, so I "get" shifting. I also understand ease of use, and keeping things uncomplicated. That's why I don't understand adding fake shifts to a CVT. Why artificially hobble the drivetrain if you don't have to? If you like driving stick over auto or anything else, you are free to decide for yourself. Just please remember that other people have other needs to fill, so there is no use shaming someone just for getting what they need. Too many guys do that, but you seem to already not follow that trend and let people be. Good on ya for that.
Yes, I am anti auto for my own personal use. I am also anti other people telling me what my preference should be. You can argue all you want the merits of something, and be right, but that doesn't change a personal preference. You can tell someone that the color black is uncomfortable to wear in the summer because it absorbs more heat, but you can't tell someone who prefers the color black that they are wrong for liking it. That is the manual transmission for me. I love being in control of the vehicle, I don't care if it is slower, or less convenient (though that is debatable), I just like it. Nothing wrong with my GF (or anyone else) driving a CVT. Doesn't even have anything to do with her "being a girl", she just has other hobbies. And I do find that the older one in her Honda actually does a good job. Whether or not it does a better job than a dual clutch or torque converter auto doesn't matter to me as I don't want either of those 😋 Sadly for me, I am temporarily stuck with an auto. My van is an auto, no manual option and I built it to live in (former ambulance). And my manual transmission car was totaled when I was rear ended and I'm not prepared to spend the money to replace it. I'm weighing getting a Miata, BRZ, or motorcycle. All manuals 😁
