    wow, love those wheels! Going to check if I can find them for myself. Any chance you can add links on the wheels and the transducer mount? Thanks!

      Hi the wheels are QuikLok transom wheels, the transducer mount I made myself

      Yes, got the new engine just in time for winter lol. So will be spring before I get on the water.

    Nice set up! Did you build the trailer platform out of wood? Any issues with too much weight behind the rear axle of the trailer? I am wanting to build one similar but since the SIB is so lightweight, I am worried about not enough tongue weight with the motor that far behind the rear axle. Thanks for the help!

      Hi thanks, the trailer is made from steel box section welded together, on top of that is 18mm marine plywood.
      The steel frame is the full size of the trailer so takes all the weight the plywood is just a floor if that makes sense?

    Interesting videos.like that idea..and we are fitting similar wheels to one of our sibs.

    Hi - great video. I’ve a discovery 330 like yours fishing Poole Harbour - I’d like to copy your design for the transducer mount - any chance you could share details? Also, the trailer looks great where did you get it from?

      Hi 👋
      Yeah no problem at all, it’s a 3mm aluminium plate all I did was cut it to size so it fitted over the four transom wheel bolts with a piece left lower down for the transducer to be mounted on then drilled four holes to line up with the bolts and the transom wheel then holds it in place. I found that it need a few trips out to get the exact depth position of the transducer, I suppose this is dependent on weight distribution and the size of the transducer. I’m sure the idea can be tweaked to suit different needs.
      The trailer was built by my father in law and is basically a box section steel frame with a marine ply floor which suits the cat hull perfectly 👍

    Neat idea on the transom mount 👍 how have you found the beach master wheels on soft sand? Really like the QR capability and considering them for a new boat but unsure about the small wheels?

    • @TheHopefulAngler
      @TheHopefulAngler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thanks, I’ve only used the wheels on soft sand once and they weren’t good, I did have the boat fully loaded plus engine and fuel so maybe different with just the hull.

    Hi and thanks for the video. Can I ask what thickness of aluminium plate you used for the transducer?

    The transom mount is genius. I'm curious to know if it worked out in the end after testing this summer? I have a 4m discovery in London and keen to have a go at building the same setup

    • @TheHopefulAngler
      @TheHopefulAngler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thanks, yeah it worked OK the position was fine in respect of being under the water surface. I still get feed back on the screen when motoring at speed I'm not sure how I'll stop this as that is the furthest away from the prop I can mount the transducer. I can still read depth OK whilst at speed, as soon as I stop or slow down everything on the display is fine.
      The F/F is quite old so maybe newer models don't have as much problem with interference.
      Good luck with your build

      @@TheHopefulAngler That's great, thank you. Managed to finally get the mount built yesterday but had to shave quite a lot off the mounting bracket, so lets see how long it stays on there for! The gap between the quicklock wheels and tube is extremely tight on the 4m Discovery. Will let you know how i get on.

    Mate thank you, Thank you, Thank you for this, I am going to do the same for my transducer! I have the same setup as yours I just have a few questions if you don't mind
    The size of the plate you made is that for stability or can it be reduced like giving it a shape for looks and to make it smaller for transport , my second question is the height position of the transducer, does it skim well below water ? have you tested it yet any vibrations , very king to know

    • @TheHopefulAngler
      @TheHopefulAngler  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks mate I'm pleased it was of use to you. I would imagine you could tweak the idea and maybe make the plate smaller and use just the two outside bolts that would make it smaller if you need it to be. I thought about making a sliding piece to attach the transducer to to make it adjustable, but there is a faint line/mark on the tubes where the water surface has left a stain so I've set the position from this, Hopefully it will be OK. I haven't tested it yet but I'm sure it will be better than my original way of having the transducer attached to a length of aluminium with cable ties then clamped to the transom with a G Clamp. It was much closer to the propeller like this and I got interference when moving at any speed, I'm hoping this will be more streamlined now. I'm looking forward to testing it.

    I'm going to steal your idea for the transducer on my Discovery 2.8. Can you tell me the thickness of the aluminium sheet?

    • @TheHopefulAngler
      @TheHopefulAngler  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah all good the transducer is under the surface and reads ok at slow speeds but gets interference when motoring, not sure how to stop that as can’t get it any further from the prop, it is an old unit though so that might have something to do with it 😀
