All these years later and I only now realized that the "I did everything you wanted me to do, so why did you do this to me?" line mirrors what happened to him in the flashback. Now I love this scene even more.
Are you really sure of that? It's hard to tell whether he is addressing the Island or his father, but then again the language is in preterite which indicates the question is for his father.
I strongly believe it is just like deja vu for Locke. He was at the moment referring to doing everything the Island wanted, but Boone died with the hatch still locked with crippled legs. But the question is just a introspective look at his own life. He does what is told and it never ends well. The flashback just resonates with the futility of John's life up to that point. He's come this far after being granted a gift and yet the cycle continues.
I think this is one of the most, if not the most, emotional scene for me in the first season, at least. the music goes so so so well with the scene and Locke's story is just so UNFAIR and sad and the acting is marvelous.
This scene along with the one at the end of Walkabout were the two scenes that made me LOVE lost. 2 of the best scenes I have ever seen in my life. Tremendous acting by Terry o Quinn. Fully desereved Emmy. Theres never gonna be a TV show like this for a long long time.
The fact that Desmond’s down there holding his key almost at tears as he was about to kill him self but penny’s note made him think that little bit longer, enough to hear John banging makes this scene so much better
This IS the best scene in so far the whole show. The music is great and it shows how sad Lockes life was. That is why he is my favorite person in the show.
That's a show that comes once in a lifetime !! Epic, Epic, Epic. If you haven't seen it then stop watching other LOST videos and go ahead and see it. You'll never regret, trust me !!
This scene is what invested me into Lost. To see what a kind man John was even after all the horrible things he had come up against, just made me want to know more.
probably the most epic scene in lost history. there have been plenty of epic scenes throughout tv, but for lost, this is one of those scenes you can never forget. this is where it all changes and all hell breaks lose.
The first time i saw this scene my mind was blown. After seeing locke wrestle so many polar bears in the first 8 episodes i never imagined him having such a vulnerable, emotional side
The end is probably how most of people feel when they pray god and get no answers. To Locke, the island was his religion or at least his spiritual goal. Finally, he died for nothing. But he was special.
Or has he died??? He was brought back to life before. And Walt said he had visions of Locke being in a suit, surrounded by people that wanted to hurt him... that could be episode 1 of next season.
Where did the polar bears come form?:P I agree Season 3 was overall the best season yet. And the season finale was the best bit of tv in years, puts most movies to shame.
this was the moment when Lost really caught me. best episode of the whole series. It's a pitty that those dramatic episodes weren't so touching in the last seasons.
11 years later i'm here to say this is my favorite scene from the show.
Great scene for such a tragic character!
It is executed extremely well and raw. Michael s scores brings out that raw beautiful haunting emotions.
saddest character ever.
its so hard to watch the scene in the car
All these years later and I only now realized that the "I did everything you wanted me to do, so why did you do this to me?" line mirrors what happened to him in the flashback. Now I love this scene even more.
damn........i just got that.........:'(

I thought he was saying that to god . He’s a man of faith ...
Game of Thrones, TWD, Breaking Bad... All shows that I love.
But one thing they miss are scenes like this
Love those 3 shows aswell although LOST is my favourite show.
Even Eddy knew John was f##ked over by the sad look in his face
Watching this in 2017. Damn I miss LOST.
Jeff McKnight daamn me too
2018
Anthony Starke I like seeing that I'm not the only one who comes back to watch these extremely emotional scenes!
2020 and I miss it.
2024…
I think this is one of the most, if not the most, emotional scene for me in the first season, at least. the music goes so so so well with the scene and Locke's story is just so UNFAIR and sad and the acting is marvelous.
Locke'd out again - Michael Giacchino
I just wish I can erase this whole show from my memory and rewatch it again 😔

I am exactly where Locke was, right now all I am missing is the light at the end. Wish I could see it too
Still gets me after all these years. What a show
I can't stop myself from getting back to this video !
It's GENIUS and BRILLIANT.
Thank you LOST for this MASTERPIECE !
Romawy96 bump
That has GOT to be one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking pieces of music ever, even without watching the scene...
When the light comes on and that music starts playing, instant chills
I look at this video everyday. So touching
Mathias Margraff do u still look at it now?
@@click9987 He is probably dead
this scene still gives me goose bumps after all this time
That's a show that comes once in a lifetime !!
Epic, Epic, Epic.
If you haven't seen it then stop watching other LOST videos and go ahead and see it. You'll never regret, trust me !!
So true
This scene is what invested me into Lost. To see what a kind man John was even after all the horrible things he had come up against, just made me want to know more.

This is why this is my favourite series
This show is truly amazing there is no show like it
One of the greatest characters in the history of television.
And again a brilliant scene of lost, and again with Terry O'quin
The greatest scene of LOST and by far my favorite.
John locke's backstory make him one of the most loved charcaters on the show, hes the best.
I just love this scene, most powerful scene on tv ever. You can actually feel his pain. the music makes this even powerful, just love it!!
The first time i saw this scene my mind was blown. After seeing locke wrestle so many polar bears in the first 8 episodes i never imagined him having such a vulnerable, emotional side
this kind of tv show only comes once in a life time. :)
Man, Locke has gone through some serious trials in life. But as he said to Sawyer, they were all necessary to get to where he is now.
"He wouldn't do this to me"
"I've done everything you've wanted me to do! So why did you do this to me!!?"
In the finale of LOST i resist crying until Ben's apologize's :( the final chapter of LOST is like an emotional bomb
This definitely deserves more than 54.k views
Same here. Terry O'Quinn himself admitted that he'll never be in anything quite like this.
The end is probably how most of people feel when they pray god and get no answers. To Locke, the island was his religion or at least his spiritual goal. Finally, he died for nothing. But he was special.
Most brilliant and saddest scene in Lost...
I love this scene too and later on you find out that Locke's banging on the door saved Desmond from killing himself.
BEST SCENE in LOST!
This is one of the most impacting scenes in Lost, let alone any T.V show out there.
the music is perfect. my favorite scene EVER.
Still the best
I legit watched this like 5 times over.
No thug, or gangsta could say they dont care about him
thats true depressoin
Brilliant acting
heartbreaking, lost is amazing, always is
not just books when he gets angry and looks at something (like the bird in his book, or the polar bear in the comic book) it comes to him.
Locke's journey was one of suffering, he made a difference in many of the castaway's lives...he might be HIM.
so incredibly powerful
Season 1 episode 4, walkabout. got me hooked
best scene ever
ohhhhhmmyyyygooodddddd chillssssss
lockes is one of the best
That makes Ben Linus as the Judas of Lost.
lockes father betrayed him,but locke then betrayed boone!he lied to jack about what happened and left without helping at all.
Brilliant scene !
Sounds great.
Absolutely agree.
my eyes water a little every time I see this
John is the Jesus Christ of Lost
@viceversusxX Deus Ex Machina aka the episode where Boone falls out of the plane
Or has he died??? He was brought back to life before. And Walt said he had visions of Locke being in a suit, surrounded by people that wanted to hurt him... that could be episode 1 of next season.
Start at 2:51.
Thanks, that was fast.
goosebumps
Sad :(
Even with Lost ending, this scene is by far still the best....
something like that, but in the end he apologizes...
amo a lost
WALT! lol i have no idea but i think it was walt, he makes things come to life that he sees in books. or thats the way it seems
Then, you have the best part to come
g8 scene lost is the best
well, he did once....
HELEN LOCKE!!!!!
*Sigh* I wish I could see Seasons 5-6.
Where did the polar bears come form?:P
I agree Season 3 was overall the best season yet. And the season finale was the best bit of tv in years, puts most movies to shame.
@Mozerlam thanks
this was the moment when Lost really caught me. best episode of the whole series.

:( locke
@SpencerDavis44 Same.
John Locke > Terry O'Quinn
a masterpiece of brilliance !
@WhiskeyTonic
The Walking Dead
what episode is this?
Just finished season 1 of lost. It's killing me that i still don't know about how he ended in the wheelchair
If you still haven't finished it yet, I'd stay away from any lost related videos.
@@yemi1776 well that was almost a year ago. I've seen it all now. The ending was alright but i didn't see that coming at all
terry o'quinn ist der beste...
Why did you do this... TO ME?!
@3:00 Did anyone else feel like that after they saw the finale?
Doctor Gonzo 😂😂😂
you forget about ben and hurly
@safseven
100% Zustimmung. ^^
hate to say it but i think the end of season 1 and beginning of season 2 was the best of lost but hey were all entiltled to our own opinion
when was it not good?
I haven't seen the final seasons. I only have the first four(but they are awesome).
