I need to know if you used a Plastic foundation, to make your mold. If so, did you use a mold release? More details please. how will you attach both sides? or will you? once made, what's your plan?
Hi Brice, I should have videoed that part when I waxed the wood, I just rubbed a block of wax on the wood. Still sticks anyway the frame have some wax to. I might try poly urethane next time when making a video with small cell and how I use them. thanks for watching . Steve

you are creating a positive mold you need a negative to create proper cells. how do your bees respond to the foundation? also what about the reverse side of the foundation it will be without cells do your bees draw on that? curious!

Yes indeed it is a great idea, but I have a problem in understanding the fact that when the wax is pored on the foundation you did only one side of the wax would be touching the mould and the wax would have the cells only on one side. do you the mould double so you do some sort of toaster to be able to do it from both sides please. thanks
+Jean Paul you make 2 sides than when you pore the wax on the bottom part you immediately put on the top side and press hard on it. a small distance between them like a few mil's should be left for strength between sides.
All i use is a guild wedge on the top frame and brush melted bees wax on it, Really the bees will draw it out just as fast as using foundation. My bees want even touch plastic foundation even wax coated. Making wax foundation this way is to brittle ! its needs to be rolled out to be flexible...You really don't need the cell embossing on it, just starter strips will work just fine. That what bees suppose to do is make comb. I learn this the hard way, and the foundation became a money pit, and a wast of time. But hey nice job on making a mold....

s rose Hi S Rose, I just drop one block of P wax 3" x 6" X 2" into the pot of B wax and the size of B wax is a meat loaf pan 3/4 full that is from my solar wax melt er I will make a video this fall when I have time. Thanks Steve

if you take a power tool like an orbital sander and hold it against the frame and just turn it on for a couple of seconds all the bubbles will come to the top

No mold release, came right off, I don't attach both sides. I use a pizza cutter now one inch strips, works great.

Hi Roni, I use beeswax from my hives & a little paraffin wax so it wont be so brittle.
Isn't paraffin a wax that deters bees from using it? If not how much paraffin do you use?

I made one years ago. Wish I had vacuum to remove bubbles before pouring. The mold didn't last many uses.
You have to shake the whole tray vigorously well it is just poured and all the bubbles come to the top
