Biggest financial mistake I ever made was with my 401k. My company had a Roth 401k when my kids were in college, but I didn't actually start contributing until year 3 of the 6 years I had kids in college. Because I was helping them with expenses, I was entitled to the tax credits, so my effective tax rate was extremely low. That is the time you NEED to be in a roth! i still retired with about $360k in my 401k.

@@MatthewVinson I totally agree; I am 66 years old, recently retired, with approximately $1.2 million in external retirement funds. I am debt free and have very little money in retirement funds compared to the total value of my portfolio over the past three years. Financial literacy refers to the understanding and knowledge of various financial concepts, including budgeting, saving, investing, debt management, and more. It empowers individuals to make informed decisions about their personal finances, enabling them to navigate the complexities of money matters effectively. Most people don't understand the power of compound interest or are just impatient. However, I think it's better for the average person to invest in the S&P 500 and wait, which is reliable, albeit extremely long: many years, or just hire an investment advisor and accelerate wealth accumulation. Most people underestimate the power of the latter.

That lesson was: for every huge, frivoluos purchase you make, you need to have an investment double it's worth, this doesn't necessarily mean you should always invest when you make a purchase, it simply means living within your means. Varied sources of income is wise and especially like i said, living within your means. Whenever you're about to make a huge, dumb purchase that doesn't add value think about taxes and how you get your income. Thank you for shedding light on the importance of financial literacy. It's astonishing how our education system often overlooks this crucial aspect of life. We all need to take personal responsibility to educate ourselves and make informed financial decisions.

I wish you had provided a basic alphabetical, a for example [four columns X three rows] spreadsheet - a working template, reflecting a basic glossary...! As in a Microsoft Word table of: assets; debts; earnings; expenses; investments and mutual funds and such!
A visual organized worksheet would help us grasp the relational concepts...!

i have a debt for the morgage. at first, i think it's a stupid idea, and don't know how i will live my life, because my income was not so big when i signed the contract. BUt now i'm so grateful because i have my own property instead of spending my money to pay rent gradually.
I pushed my self to live in an minimalism, and start saving even without particular reasons.

The biggest thing I learned from this video was 50% of investing is buying good companies at good prices and the other 50% is controlling your emotions when . market is moody.I realized that the secret to making a million is making better investment. I always tell myself you don't need that new car or that vacation just yet and that mindset helps me make more money investing.

I really wish I wasn't joking but I was diagnosed with ADD back in the late 90s. I remember at one point during my life I was standing right next to the wall and I was facing two different rooms side-by-side. I'm the left was a room that had a couch and a TV while the other room literally was full of books and one chair. I firmly believe to this day that if I had shows the room with all the books I would have been a completely different person today, but unfortunately I chose to choose the room that only had a couch and a TV. I hope you all know where I'm going with this! If I had shows the room that was full of books I would have been educated and insanely smart as well as fit and healthy. Unfortunately now I am morbidly obese and stupid, not to degrade myself, but because of my mental disorders life is very difficult for me. Please learn from me and educate yourself.

I wish i learnt most of these principles about seven years ago. A lot of people have been trapped strongly in the matrix-- Go to school, get a job, and then slave your whole life. Many miss out on life-changing information that could have great effect on their finances. I played with the stock market sometime in 2020, and I was surprised at how well it turned out. I want to put in $90k more into the market. I heard people are making really great returns despite the downturn. Any recommendations?
